Scripture Study: God's people are pilgrims on a journey. In this modern world, nothing is so vital as understanding this identi-fy and finding models to bolster us on our journey. Please join the Scripture Study group as we explore the Pilgrim People in a five week course starting Monday evening, May 2 at 7 pm in the PAC. The same course will be offered starting Tuesday, May 3, at 10 am in the PAC. All are invited. Suggested donation is $20 to help cover the cost of books and video. St. Lucy’s YLI is sponsoring a Fashion Show & Luncheon on Sat., April 23 at 12:30pm in the PAC. Tickets are $23. Reservations with Rosemary at 408-378-0325. Proceeds benefit many charities.
Our Holy Father Francis promulgated the Apostolic Exhortation, AMORIS LAETITIA (On Love in the Family) on April 8, 2016. Pope Francis asks us to read and pray over the teachings of the Church and how we are called as the faithful to form our lives and listen to the Word of God and the tradition of the our Church. Pope Francis recognizes clearly that the “ideal” does not always speak to the lived experi-ence but in the below quotes he begins to lay the ground work for a fuller understanding of God’s plan and the hope of the Church.
Let us cross the threshold of this tranquil home, with its family sitting around the festive table. At the cen-ter we see the father and mother, a couple with their personal story of love. They embody the primordial divine plan clearly spoken of by Christ himself: “Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female?” (Mt 19:4). (#9)
The couple that loves and begets life is a true, living icon – not an idol like those of stone or gold prohibited by the Deca-logue – capable of revealing God the Creator and Savior…Seen this way, the couple’s fruitful relationship becomes an image for understanding and describing the mystery of God himself, for in the Christian vision of the Trinity… The family is thus not unrelated to God’s very being. This Trinitarian dimension finds expression in the theology of Saint Paul, who relates the couple to the “mystery” of the union of Christ and the Church (cf. Eph 5:21-33). (#11)

SVDP Outreach Corner
Third Sunday Food Collection We will be collecting non-perishable items for the Outreach Office pantry on the weekend of April 16-17. Items most needed are cans of fruit, whole meals (chilli, spaghetti and meatballs, hearty soups) in pop-tops cans and vegetables. We also need small/trial size tubes of toothpaste and shampoo. Other toiletries in family sizes are always welcome.
Pantry Food Distribution If you are in need of a bag of groceries for your family, the Out-reach Office is open five days a week from 10:00 am to 11:45 am. We can also give you a list of other food resources that are available to help you feed your children.
Easter Meals for the Needy We were able to provide 22 families, who had visited the Out-reach Office in the last few years, funds to purchase the groceries for a complete Easter dinner. The funds came from a Catholic Relief Services “Rice Bowl” grant that the St. Lucy Conference of SVDP obtained for this purpose.

Coffee/Tea Social for Women of St. Lucy and Young at Heart: April 21, 2016, 10am to 1pm in PAC-B
In honor of Easter seasons and renewed blessings, we have a mission this month to lend a helping hand to those with eye issues and those who are hard of hearing. Come learn about the entitle-ment for those with Hearing Loss and if you or a loved one can qualify to receive a no cost telephone. Also, come to enjoy the refreshments, our fellowship and meet new friends!
ST. LUCY PARISH would like to thank the more than 528 families who contributed $207,090 to the ADA this year! We are very grateful to the St. Lucy community for their generosity in meeting our financial goal of $190,852. By sharing our gifts we benefit not only the greater Catholic community in our Diocese, but we affirm to ourselves our Christian commitment to help one another. Nuestro Santo Papa Francisco promulgó en su Exhortación Apostólica, AMORIS LAETITIA (El amor en la familia), el 8 de abril de 2016. El Papa Francisco nos invita a leer y orar sobre las enseñanzas de la Iglesia y cómo estamos llamados como fieles a formar nuestras vidas y escuchar la Palabra de Dios y la tradición de la Iglesia. El Papa Francisco reconoce claramente que el "ideal" no siempre habla de la experiencia de la vida, pero en las declaraciones citadas aquí él comienza a presentar
las bases para una comprensión más completa del plan de Dios y la esperanza de la Iglesia.
Atravesemos entonces el umbral de esta casa serena, con su familia sentada en torno a la mesa festiva. En el centro encontramos la pareja del padre y de la madre con toda su historia de amor. En ellos se realiza aquel designio primor-dial que Cristo mismo evoca con intensidad: «¿No habéis leído que el Creador en el principio los creó hombre y mu-jer?» (Mt 19,4). (#9)
La pareja que ama y genera la vida es la verdadera «escultura» viviente —no aquella de piedra u oro que el Decálogo prohíbe—, capaz de manifestar al Dios creador y salvador…Bajo esta luz, la relación fecunda de la pareja se vuelve una imagen para descubrir y describir el misterio de Dios, fundamental en la visión cristiana de la Trinidad…La familia no es pues algo ajeno a la misma esencia divina[7]. Este aspecto trinitario de la pareja tiene una nueva representación en la teología paulina cuando el Apóstol la relaciona con el «misterio» de la unión entre Cristo y la Iglesia (cf. Ef 5,21-33). Colecta del tercer domingo de Alimentos Tenemos una colecta de artículos no perecederos para la des-pensa de la Oficina de Servicios Sociales el fin de semana del 16-17 de abril. Los productos que más se necesitan son latas de frutas, comidas (espaguetis y albóndigas, sopas) en latas y ver-duras. También necesitamos tubos pequeñas de pasta de dientes y champú. Otros artículos de aseo en tamaño familiar se necesi-tan siempre.
Distribución despensa de alimentos Si usted necesita una bolsa de comestibles para su familia, la Oficina de Servicios Sociales está abierta cinco días a la semana de las 10 a.m. a las 11:45 am. También les podemos dar una lista de otros recursos de alimentos que están disponibles para ayudar a alimentar a sus hijos.
Comidas de Pascua Hemos sido capaces de proporcionarles a 22 familias, que ha-bían visitado la Oficina de Servicios Sociales en los últimos años, algunos fondos para comprar lo que necesiten para una cena completa Pascua. Los fondos provenían del fondo de Catholic Relief Services "Plato de Arroz" que hemos obtenido para este fin.

Atención las Mujeres de Santa Lucía y el Club de Leones los invi-ta a un desayuno de hotcakes el domingo 24 de abril de las 8 a.m. a las 12p.m.! Puede pagar en la puerta. Adultos $8 y niños $6. October to December 2015 288 visits were made to the Outreach Office by 152 clients 2 clients received help with their utility bills and 17 clients were helped with rent 54 families received Christmas Baskets 122 clients received 252 bags of food 120 clients received food vouchers to either a grocery store or to a fast food restaurant (homeless) 100 clients received toiletries (soap, shampoo, razors, lo-tion etc)
January thru March 2016 219 visits were made to the Outreach Office by 146 clients 9 clients received help with their utility bills and 5 clients were helped with rent 26 homeless clients received Valentine gift bags 117 clients received 230 bags of food 127 clients received food vouchers to either a grocery store or to a fast food restaurant (homeless) 84 clients received toiletries (soap, shampoo, razors, lotion etc)

ST. LUCY’S VOCATION DISCERNMENT NIGHT
This picture was taken last April 8th, Friday, at our St Lucy's Vocation Discernment Night. Thanks to Br. Jacob Bod-dicker for giving an intro-duction to the Spiritual Exercise of St. Ignatius. Next talk will be on May 6 at 7:30pm about follow-ing the footsteps of Mary to answer our vocation. It will be given by Fr Antho-ny Hernandez.
