Dear brothers and sisters, honour those who are your leaders in the Lord's work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and wholehearted love because for their work. And live peacefully with each other. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 NIVsa:12-13 NIV

A Life of Service - Priests are selfless sources of inspiration, wisdom and comfort who

dedicate their lives to guiding us through daily sacraments as well as life's most

extraordinary events. From the joyous celebrations of baptism and marriage

through anointing the sick and mourning our loses, they stand beside us.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS – MAY 12

This weekend, the Church throughout the world prays for vocations. Will you make a special effort to ask the Lord for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life for our Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie? Take this opportunity to pray for the priests and religious who have ministered to you in your life, and consider encouraging your children, grandchildren or other young people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious sister or brother. Pray that those that the Lord is calling to serve the Church will overcome their fear, and allow God to shape them into who he has made them to be.

AT HOME WITH THE WORD® 2019

Practice of Hope

The image of sheep and shepherd described in the Gospel remains a cherished image of God’s care for us. It also describes the heart of the prayer of con-templation. This intimate encounter with the Lord in prayer is a glimpse of what we hope one day to obtain: to be at peace in the presence of the Good Shepherd. Share time this week with someone close to you, making sure to set aside distractions, recognizing that our relationships are gifts from God that need careful tending.

The Roses for Life Program consists of

distributing small roses, which attach

to the lapel of jackets or coats. The

program is designed to increase

awareness of the Culture of Life / Pro-Life

issues (abortion, euthanasia) and programs

such as Life Chain and March for Life.

Thank you for your support.

Roses for Right to Life

This weekend May 11/12 the Knights of

Columbus will be selling "Roses for Life" after

all Masses. All proceeds donated will be

given to Sudbury Right to Life”.

Mass with Anointing of the Sick

will take place at Holy Redeemer Parish on

Thursday, May 16th at 11:00 A.M.

This will replace the 4:15 Mass that day.

This is a special opportunity for those who wish to receive the Sacrament of the Sick. This Sacrament ,once known as “Extreme Unction” was reserved for those who were approaching death. This is not so today.

The sacrament of the sick is available for anyone who suffers. For example, those who are elderly and whose frailty is becoming more pronounced; those who are suffering from a major illness, are facing surgery, serious medical tests or have suffered a serious accident; those who suffer from chronic illness such as arthritis or diabetes, or who suffer from a serious mental illness.

If you know anyone who is suffering and/or is homebound, please assist them in attending this Mass.

Light Reception to follow in the parish hall.

Congratulations Fr. Peter

on your 38 years of

Ordination to the Priesthood

First Holy Communion

“I am the Bread of Life … whoever receives Me

lives in Me, and I live in him”. (John 6)

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who have

and will soon celebrate meeting Jesus in the

Sacrament of first Holy Communion!

May these children grow

in their love of the Lord

and with the help

of their parents,

return again and again

each Sunday to receive

Christ in the Eucharist.

True parish communities in which evan-

gelization and radical hospitality are

practiced will be a mix of people who

are different. If everyone we know in our

parish looks and sounds and talks and

acts the same way as we do, we might

not be reflecting as clearly as we can

the people of God who come “from

every nation, race, people, and

tongue” (Rev 7:9). If that is the case, it

is a call for us to seek out those who are

missing from the flock. And you might

not have to go to the ends of the earth

to find them. They may even be sitting in

another part of the church. All we have

to do is make an effort to go and meet

them.

Plan‘ting’ for 2020

The Minnow Lake CAN (Community Action Network) wishes to create a large in ground garden, much like the one at the Flower Mill Farm, and a greenhouse, like the one at Coniston Community Gardens, located on the large piece of property at the entrance to the dog park, on Second Avenue, most likely for the 2020 growing year.

We wish to partner with a corporate donor, Ontario Works and Holy Redeemer Parishioners, the apartment dwellers @ Greenbriar, and any other interested parties, in an effort to get our seniors and others physically active, and grow food for distribution to the benevolent agencies, i.e. the Food Bank, Blue Door Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army, and any other agency that distributes food.

As the plans are preliminary at this point, we would like to get an idea how many people this may interest.
