Zone Description Requirements
Zone I Normal zoneBelow 1 .0 Million ft.lb [138 000 kg m]
No special requirement under normal operations.
Zone II Normal zone1.0 to 2.05 million ft.lb [138 000 to 282 900 kg m]
Delay subsequent take off as indicated by chart
Zone III Caution zone:
2.05 to 4.0 million ft.lb [282 900 to 552 000 kg m]
1. Move aircraft to clear active runway as uneven braking could cause one or more tyres to deflate if energy was in the upper range.
2. Use brakes sparingly to manoeuvre.3. Do not set parking brake.4. Allow to cool for the time indicated by chart.5. After cooling, make a visual check of brakes.
Zone IV. Danger zone Over 4.0 million ft.lb [552 000 kg m]
I. Clear runway immediately as fusible plugs will blow 2 to 30 min. after stopping.
2. Do not apply dry chemical or quench until fusible plugs have released tyre pressure.
3. Do not approach for 1/2 hour or until fusible plugs have blown.
4. Two to three hours are required for brakes to cool enough for safe removal when artificial cooling is not used.
5. Tyres, wheels, and brakes must be replaced.
