Celebrating five years of merger milestones

In Dec. 2013, American Airlines and US Airways created the largest airline in the world. And we’ve been busy ever since.

We are flying more seats out of ORD now than ever before. Take a look at a few of the things American has been up to in Chicago over the past five years.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE:

Create a World-Class Customer Experience

We continue to make the world a little bit smaller for our customers by adding 28 new routes to ORD since our merger. Today, we fly to 144 destinations from Chicago, including new European hot-spots like Barcelona, Venice and, next summer, Athens.

Chicago’s hometown airline flies the “W.” American became the Official Airline of the Chicago Cubs and historic Wrigley Field. In 2015, we signed a long-term Legacy Partnership with the 2016 World Series Champions.

For the first time since the 1960s, a new city was added to the American Shuttle. We launched a new shuttle product to fly between New York LaGuardia (LGA) and ORD, offering business travelers a more convenient commute between the two cities.

We’re dreaming big with the Dreamliner in ORD. American is the only hub carrier at ORD offering service on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. On peak days next summer, we’ll be flying up to 13 Boeing 787s out of ORD.
