Who am I?
» The Big Brown batis relatively largein size, from about4-5 inches inlength andweighing 1 and ahalf to 5 and aneighth ounce. Thefur is long, andshiny brown. Thewing membranes,ears, feet, and faceare dark brown toblackish in color.
The Early years
» The young batsare averaged twoa litter, are bornin late May orearly June. Whenthe young arebetween three andfor weeks of age,they begin to leavethe roost for theirfirst flights.
Habitat sweet Habitat
» Some of the batshabitats arehollow trees,beneath tree barkor in the crevicesof rocs, attics,barns, oldbuildings, undereaves and behindwindow shutters.
What’s on the menu?
» Big brown bats eatenormousamounts ofdestructive insectsincludingmosquitoes. Theyeat many kinds ofnight flyinganimals, such asbeetles and wasps.
