Before creating my magazine I did a questionnaire to find out what my audience wanted from my magazine. After looking through the results, I found out that the majority wanted to have an interview with an artist rather than an article. Therefor I had an interview with an artist, who plays in a band, on the double page spread.

Doing a survey and an interview also allowed me to create my magazine providing to my audiences needs. For example in the audio interview I asked which artists they would like to appear in the magazine, and some of the answers I got were The Killers and Coldplay. This led me putting The Killers as a cover line on my front cover and I also didn't forget to put them in my contents page. The interview on the double page spread included an artist who's band was the supporting act on Coldplay's tour. This suggests that they are similar, and if you like Coldplay then there is a chance you will like that band as well.

I used a lot of different features and topics. This helps the readers to find exactly what they want and choose between several things. I also had a contest, as people like to win things.

My audience was highly active on social medias. Therefor I included the three main networks from the survey: a Facebook link, and a Twitter and Instagram username.

The writing style in the whole magazine was quite informal. This reflects the way teenagers talk to each other, and therefor it becomes more relevant to them. Especially in the interview you can see that I wrote the artist's answers exactly as he said it.

I used my masthead to attract my audience as ''Shuffle'' is a word which is used more often by the younger generation, suggesting that the magazine is for teenagers. It was in bright colours, which easily stands out from the rest of the front cover.

My models in the magazine were chosen to appeal to a teenage target market. Most of them were the same age and therefor the readers can aspire to be like them. The female artists fit the Male Gaze, which made them attracted to both girls, who can have the artists as role models, and guys. The male artists could inspire the male readers to be more like them, as they get a lot of attention from the females.

Several pictures included models who looked straight in the camera and had “eye contact” with the readers. This draws the audience in, making them want to buy the magazine. Some artists had also acoustic instruments, which appeals to the indie/alternative genre and attracts my audience.
