Use a 1- Peso coin to check the depth of the tread. The tread should be deeper than the midpoint of the letters of the “Republica ng Pilipinas” when inserted upside-down into the groove. Check tread depth on several places across the width of each tire to make sure the tread is wearing evenly. Finally, check tire pressure to ensure proper inflation and adjust air pressure accordingly. Proper Functioning of Lights and Signals. Check working conditions of the blinkers and hazard flashers in the front and rear, reverse lights, parking and side marker lights, as well as low and high beam headlights. Brake System. Pump the brakes when the engine is off several times until the pedal becomes firm. You should be able to keep solid pressure on the pedal for at least 10 seconds without any movement. If the pedal feels soft or there is excessive movement, that could be a sign of trouble.

Fluid Levels. Check all fluid levels of engine oil,

brake fluid, engine coolant, power steering fluid and transmission fluid.

Electrical and Safety Components.

Ensure that there are no warning signs illuminated on your dashboard panel (such as “check engine” or “SRS” lights). Finally check for smooth operation of the belts and buckles. Then once you’re buckled up, you’re ready to go.
