Page 1: 50 First Dates - Website Analysis

Location:

The main image of the website shows that the film is set on an exotic island such as; Hawaii or the Caribbean due to the background of the photo being the sea, beach and palm trees.

Characters:

Through the title, the reader would assume by the photo that the two haven’t met before, as the photo seems to be a bit awkward, and is if the couple don’t have much to say to each other. It seems as if the pair are having a picnic on the beach, trying to get to know each other better.

Title:

The title of the film has been placed at the bottom of the image, and is identical to the poster. The placing of the title at the bottom is effective as the colour of the fonts contrast well with the sand. However, placing the title on the top of the page in the sky may have caught the reader attention more, but may have ruined the sky image.

Music:

Surprisingly, the website features no music player on the website, which is an extremely common feature of most websites for the film. Through featuring a music player in the website would have given the website a more exotic feel, and would be a nice addition.

Theme:

The theme of the website is consistent in term of both the fonts and the colours used, and complement each other. Overall, the website looks professional and constructs a strong representation of the film.

Navigational Bar:

The navigational bar is on the left of the website image, and keeps the theme of the film consistent as it uses an image of waves for each link button, sticking to the summer theme of the film. The navigational bar features DVD – widescreen version, DVD – full screen version, home, synopsis, DVD features, trailer and clips and enter the site. The placement of the navigational bar break forms and conventions as websites tend to have it placed on the bottom or top, but it has become more common now to feature it on either side of the image.

Animation:

There is not animation featured on the website, which is surprising considering that it is a common feature of film websites.
