LIMITED TWO-YEAR WARRANTY ON CRAFTSMAN SNOW THROWER

For two years from the date of purchase, when this Craftsman Snow Thrower is main-tained, lubricated, and tuned up according to the operating and maintenance instruc-tions in the owner's manual, Craftsman will repair, free of charge, any defect in mate-rial or workmanship.

If this Craftsman Snow Thrower is used for commercial or rental purposes, this war-ranty applies for only 90 days from the date of purchase.

This warranty does not cover the following:

• Items which become worn during normal use, such as spark plugs, drive belts andshear pins.

• Repairs necessary because of operator abuse or negligence, including bent crankshafts and the failure to maintain the equipment according to the instructions con-tained in the owner's manual.

BEFORE USE• Read the owner's manual carefully. Be

thoroughly familiar with the controls andthe proper use of the snow thrower. Knowhow to stop the snow thrower anddisengage the controls quickly.

• Do not operate the snow thrower withoutwearing adequate outer garments. Wearfootwear that will improve footing onslippery surfaces.

• Keep the area of operation clear of allpersons, particularly small children andpets.

• This snow thrower is for use on side-walks, driveways, and other ground levelsurfaces. CAUTION: should be exercisedwhile using on steep sloping surfaces. DONOT USE SNOW THROWER ONSURFACES ABOVE GROUND LEVELsuch as roofs of residences, garages,porches or other such structures orbuildings.

• Check all bolts at frequent intervals forproper tightness to be sure the snowthrower is in safe working condition.

• Disengage clutch before starting theengine.

• Let engine and snow thrower adjust tooutdoor temperatures before starting toclear snow.

FUEL SAFETY• Handle fuel with care; it is highly flam-

mable.

• Use an approved container.• Check fuel supply before each use,

allowing space for expansion as the heatof the engine and/or sun can cause fuel toexpand.

• Fill fuel tank outdoors with extreme care.Never fill fuel tank indoors. Replace fueltank cap securely and wipe up spilledfuel.

• Never remove the fuel tank cap or addfuel to a running or hot engine.

• Never store fuel or snow thrower with fuelin the tank inside a building where fumesmay reach an open flame.

OPERATING SAFETY

• Never allow children or young teenagersto operate the snow thrower. Keep themaway while it is operating. Never allowadults to operate the snow throwerwithout proper instruction.

• Do not operate this machine if you aretaking drugs or other medication whichcan cause drowsiness or affect yourability to operate this machine.

• Do not use this machine if you arementally or physically unable to operatethis machine safely.

• Always wear safety glasses or eyeshields during operation or while perform-

ing an adjustment or repair to protecteyes from foreign objects that may bethrown from the snow thrower.

• Do not put hands or feet near or underrotating parts. Keep clear of the dischargeopening at all times.

• Exercise extreme caution to avoidor falling, especially when operating inreverse or backing up.

• Do not clear snow across the face ofslopes. Excercise caultion when changingdirection on slopes..Do not attempt toclear steep slopes.

• Never operate the snow thrower withoutproper guards, plates, or other safetyprotective devices in place.

• Never operate the snow thrower nearglass enclosures, automobiles, windowwells, drop-offs, and the like withoutproper adjustment of the snow dischargeangle. Keep children and pets away.

• Never operate the snow thrower at hightransport speeds on slippery surfaces.Look behind and use care when backing.

• Never direct discharge at bystanders orallow anyone in front of the snow thrower.

• Do not run the engine indoors, exceptwhen starting the engine and for trans-porting the snow thrower in or out of thebuilding. Open the outside doors; exhaustfumes are dangerous, containing CAR-BON MONOXIDE, an ODORLESS andDEADLY GAS.

• Take all possible precautions whenleaving the snow thrower unattended.Disengage the auger/impeller, stopengine, and remove key.

• Do not overload the machine capacity byattempting to clear snow at too fast a rate.

SAFE STORAGE

• Always refer to the owner's manualinstructions for important details if thesnow thrower is to be stored for anextended period.

• Disengage power to the auger/impellerwhen snow thrower is transported or notin use.

• Never store the snow thrower with fuel in

the fuel tank inside a building whereignition sources are present such as waterand space heaters, clothes dryers, andthe like. Allow the engine to cool beforestoring in any enclosure.

REPAIR/ADJUSTMENTSSAFETY• Afterstrikingaforeignobject,stopthe

engine (motor). Turn key to OFF positionand remove key to prevent accidentalstarting. Thoroughly inspect thesnowthrower for any damage, and repairthe damage before restarting andoperating it.

• If snow thrower should start to vibrateabnormally, stop engine (motor) andcheck immediately for the cause.Vibration is generally a warning oftrouble.

• Stop the engine (motor) whenever youleave the operating position. Also, turnkey to OFF position and remove keybefore unclogging the auger/impellerhousing or discharge chute, and whenmaking any repairs, adjustments, orinspections. Remove wire from sparkplug to prevent accidental starting.

• When cleaning, repairing, or inspecting,make certain the auger/impeller and allmoving parts have stopped.Turn key toOFF position and remove key to preventaccidental starting.

• Never attempt to make any adjustmentswhile the engine is running except whenspecifically recommended by themanufacturer.

• Maintain or replace safety and instructionlabels, as necessary.

• Run the snow thrower a few minutes afterthrowing snow to prevent freeze-up of theauger/impeller.

Z_ WARNING: This unit is equipped withan internal combustion engine and shouldnot be used on or near any unimproved for-est-covered, brush-covered or grass-cov-ered land unless the engine's exhaust sys-tem is equipped with a spark arrester meet-ing applicable local or state laws (if any). If aspark arrester is used, it should be main-tained in effective working order by the op-erator.

In the state of California the spark arrester isrequired by law (Section 4442 of the Califor-nia Public Resources Code). Other statesmay have similar laws. Federal laws applyon federal lands. TO REMOVE SNOW THROWERFROM CARTON

• Locate and remove container of Crafts-

man 2-cycle oil.• Remove the inserts positioned around the

unit and the packing material.• Cut down all four corners and lay the

panel down flat.

• Remove and discard bottom packaging.• Pull snow thrower out of the carton.

TO ASSEMBLE THE SNOWTHROWER

• Remove wrap on upper handle and alongthe side of both handles.Discard wrap.

• Unfold upper handle to remove

packaging on the control panel anddiscard.

• Loosen the tee knobs on each side of the

upper handle.

• Raise the upper handle to the operatingposition.

• To stop the auger, release the augercontrol bar.

NOTE: If the auger continues to creep, refer(To Adjust Auger Control Cable paragraph onpage 11).

• To stop the engine, turn key to the OFFposition.

• Turn the chute control rod to set the

direction of the snow throwing.

• Loosen the tee knob on the chutedeflector and move the deflector to set

the distance. Move the deflector (UP) formore distance, (DOWN) for less distance.Then tighten the tee knob (See figurebelow).

BEFORE STARTING ENGINE

WARNING: Experience indicates that

alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol orthose using ethanol or methanol) canattract moisture whic h leads to separationand formation of acids during storage.Acidic gas can damage the fuel system ofan engine while in storage. To avoid engineproblems, the fuel system should be

emptied before storage for 30 days orlonger. Start engine and let it run until fuellines and carburetor are empty. Usecarburetor bowl drain to empty residualgasoline from float chamber (See figure inStorage section, page 16). Use fresh fuelnext season. (See Storage Instructions onpage 16 for additional information).

Never use engine or carburetor cleanerproducts in the fuel tank or permanentdamage may occur.

FILL GASNOTICE: ENGINES WHICH ARE CERTI-FIED TO COMPLY WITH CALIFORNIAAND US EPA EMISSION REGULATIONSFOR ULGE ENGINES: Are certified tooperate on regular unleaded gasoline.Include the following emisssion controlsystem(s): EM, TWC (if so equipped).Include any user adjustable features -therefore no other adustments areneeded.The two cycle engine used on thissnow thrower requires a mixture of gasolineand oil for lubrication of the bearings andother moving parts. The correct fuel mixtureratio is 40:1 (3.2 oz. oil per gallon of gas -see Fuel Mixture Chart). Gasoline and oilmust be pre-mixed in a clean gasolinecontainer. Always use fresh, clean, un-

GASOLINE AND OIL MIXTURE

Mix gasoline and oil as follows:• Pour I U.S. quart of fresh, clean,

unleaded automotive gasoline to a gallongasoline container.

• Add 3.2 oz of clean, high quality, Crafts-man two-cycle oil into the gasolinecontainer (One 3.2 ounces of oil pro-vided).

IMPORTANT: Do not use outboard motoroil or automobile oils, such as SAE 30 oil,

or multi-viscosity oils, such as 10W-30 or10W-40.

• Reinstall the cap on the gasoline con-tainer and shake container vigorously sothe oil mixes with the gasoline

• Add an additional 3 U.S. quarts ofgasoline to the gallon container andshake the container again.

WARNING: Gasoline is flammable and

caution must be used when handling orstoring it. Do not fill fuel tank while snowthrower is running, hot, or when snowthrower is in an enclosed area. Keep awayfrom open flame, electrical spark, and donot smoke while filling the fuel tank. Neverfill fuel tank completely; but fill the tank towithin 1/4-1/2 inch from the top to providespace for expansion of fuel. Always fill fueltank outdoors and use a funnel or spout toprevent spilling. Make sure to wipe up anyspilled fuel before starting the engine. Storegasoline in a clean, approved container, andkeep the cap in place on the container.Keep gasoline in a cool, well ventilatedplace; never in the house. Never buy morethan a 30 day supply of gasoline to ensurevolatility. Gasoline is intended to be used asa fuel for internal combustion engines;therefore, do not use gasoline for any otherpurpose. Since many children like the smellof gasoline, keep it out of their reachbecause the fumes are dangerous to inhale,as well as being explosive.

TO STOP ENGINE

• To stop the engine, turn the key to OFFand remove key. Keep key in a safeplace. The engine will not start without thekey. See figure on next page.

TO START ENGINE (ELECTRICSTART)

The snow thrower engine is equipped with a120 volt AC electric starter and recoil starter.

Before starting the engine, be certain thatyou have read the following information:

COLD START

• Insert the key and turn ON.

• Move the choke control to the FULL

position.

• Connect the power cord to the switch boxon the snow thrower.

• Plug the other end of the power cord intoa three hole, grounded 120 volt ACreceptacle.

• Push the primer button while covering thevent holes as follows: (Remove fingerfrom primer button between primes).

Do not prime if temperature is above50°F.

Two times if temperature is 50 ° F to 15°F.

Four times if temperature is below 15°F.

• Push down on the starter button until the

engine starts. Do not crank for more than10 seconBs at a time. This electric starter

is thermally protected. If overheated it willstop automatically and can be restarted

only when it has cooled to a safe tempera-ture (a wait of about 5 to 10 minutes isrequired.

• Disconnect the power cord from thereceptacle first and then from the switchbox on the snow thrower.

• As engine warms up and begins tooperate evenly, move the choke controlslowly to the OFF position. If the enginefalters, turn to 1/2 choke until it runs

smoothly, then move to OFF position.

NOTE: Allow the engine.to warm up for afew minutes before using snow thrower, asthe engine will not develop full power until itreaches operating temperature.

WARM START

• Be sure the choke is in the OFF posi-tion and pull the starter handle until theengine starts.

• Do not prime a warm engine. If the en-gine fails to start, follow the Cold En-gine Start instructions on page 8.

operate on 120 volt AC household current.

Follow all instructions carefully as set forthin the "To Start Engine" section. When

connecting 120 volt AC power cord, alwaysconnect the cord to the switch box on the

engine first, then plug the other end into the

household receptacle. When disconnectingthe 120 volt AC power cord, always unplugfrom the household receptacle first.

TO STOP ENGINE

• To stop the engine, turn the key to OFFand remove key. Keep key in a safeplace. The engine will not start without thekey. See figure above.

TO START ENGINE (RECOIL START)

Before starting the engine, be certain thatyou have read and understood all the

instructions on the preceding pages.COLD START

• Insert the key and turn ON.

• Move the choke control to the FULL

position.

• Push the primer button while covering thevent holes as follows: (Remove fingerfrom primer button between primes).

One time if temperature is above 50°F.

Two times if temperature is 50 ° F to 15°F.

Four times if temperature is below 15°F.

• Pull the starter handle with a smooth rapidmovement. Do not allow the starter ropeto snap back. Rewind smoothly whileholding the starter handle. If the enginefires but does not start, pull the starterhandle until the engine starts.

• Afterthree pulls, repeat the priming andpulling steps again.

• As engine starts warms up move chokelever to "1/2 choke" position. Whenengine runs smoothly, move choke leverto "No Choke" Position

NOTE: Allow the engine to warm up forseveral minutes before blowing snow intemperatures below 0°F.WARM START

• Be sure the choke is in the OFF posi-tion and pull the starter handle until theengine starts.

• Do not prime a warm engine. If the en-gine fails to start, follow the Cold En-gine Start instructions on page 8.

/_ CAUTION: Never run engine indoors

or in enclosed, poody ventilated areas.Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide,

an odorless and a deadly gas. Always standbehind snow thrower(operator's position)when starting engine. Do not put hands,feet, hair or loose clothing in or near thedischarge chute deflector or auger housingwhile the engine is running. The tempera-ture of the muffler and neaby areas mayexceed 150 ° _; avoid these areas also.

,&LL_ WARNING: Objects such as gravel,rocks or other debris, if struck by the auger,may be thrown with sufficient force to causepersonal injury or property damage.

We recommend standard safety glasses orWide Vision Safety Mask for over yourglasses.

SNOW THROWING TIPS

• This snow thrower will propel itselfforward when the handle is raised

enough to cause the auger blades tocontact the ground. The auger shouldstop when auger control bar is released,If it does not, refer to Adjust AugerControl Cable paragraph on page 12.

• For most efficient snow throwing, turn the

discharge chute deflector to throw snowdownwind, and slightly overlap eachswath. In light snow take up to a full cutand in heavy snow take less than a fullcut.

• The distance snow will be discharged canbe adjusted by moving the dischargechute deflector. Raise the deflector formore distance or lower the deflector forless distance.

• In windy conditions, Iower the chutedeflector to direct discharged snow closeto the ground where it is less likely toblow into unwanted areas.

• Keep the area to be cleared free of

stones, toys and other foreign objects forsafety and to prevent damage to thesnow thrower.

• Do not use the auger propelling featurewhen clearing gravel or crushed rockdriveways. Move the handle down toraise the auger slightly.

• The allowable forward speed of the snowthrower is dependent on the depth andweight of the snow. Experience willestablish the most effective method of

using the snow thrower under differentconditions.

DRY AND AVERAGE SNOW

• Snow up to eight inch depth can beremoved rapidly and easily by walking ata moderate rate. For snow or drifts of a

greater depth you may find it desirable toslow your pace to allow the dischargechute to dispose of the snow as rapidlyas the auger receives the snow.

• Plan to have the snow discharged in thedirection the wind is blowing.

WET PACKED SNOW

Move slowly into snow of this condition.

The greater the depth, the slower youshould go. When it appears that the wet,packed snow is causing the auger to slowdown and the chute to clog, back off andbegin a series of short jabs into the snow.These short back and forth, 4 to 6 inch,jabbing motions will "belch" the snowfrom the chute.

SNOW BANKS AND DRIFTS

• In snow of greater depth than the unit,use the jabbing technique describedabove. Turn the discharge chute awayfrom the snow bank. More time will be

required to remove snow of this type thanlevel snow.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

The warranty on this snow thrower does notcover items that have been subjected to op-erator abuse or negligence. To receive fullvalue from the warranty, the operator mustmaintain the snow thrower as instructed inthis manual. The above chart is provided toassist the operator in properly maintainingthe snow thrower.

SNOW THROWER

AFTER FIRST USE

• Check for any loose or damaged partsafter each use.

• Tighten any loose fasteners.

AFTER EACH USE

• Run the machine to clear the auger ofsnow.

• Remove all snow and slush from the snow

thrower to prevent freezing of auger orcontrols.

• Make sure that the spark plug is tight-ened securely into the engine and thespark plug wire is attached to the sparkplug.

• If a torque wrench is available, torqueplug to 18 to 23 foot pounds.

• Clean the area around the spark plugbase before removal to prevent dirt fromentering the engine.

LUBRICATION CHART

• Lubricate the flange on the dischargechute before storage. See To RemoveTop Cover instructions on page 12.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT

The carburetor on this snow thrower is not

adjustable.

IMPORTANT: If you think the carburetor isnot operating properly, contact yournearest Craftsman service center.

_ CAUTION: Never tamper with the

engine governor which is factory set forproper engine speed. Over speeding theengine may increase the danger ofpersonal injury and will void the enginewarranty. If you think the engine governorhigh speed needs adjusting, contact yournearest Craftsman service center whohas the proper equipment and experienceto make any unnecessary adjustments.

TO ADJUST THE CHUTE CRANK

ASSEMBLY

If you cannot rotate the chute crank fully to theleft and to the right, you need to adjust the

chute crank. See first figure on this page.

• Remove the top cover. See To Remove

Top Cover instructions on this page.• Loosen both 1/2" nuts on the crank

adjusting bracket using 1/2" wrenches.

• Swivel the crank adjusting bracket toallow about 1/8" clearance between the

notch in the flange and the outer diameterof the worm.

• Once this clearance is set, tighten thenuts.

The auger control cable is set at the factory forproper operation. If you need to adjust thecable, because the control bar does not prop-erly engage or disengage the auger, do thefollowing:

• Remove "Z" hook from the auger controlbar. See second figure.

• Slide the boot toward the loose end of the

cable. See third figure.

• Push the cable down through the hole inthe top of the cable adjustment bracket toprovide slack in the cable. See third figure

• Remove the "Z" hook from the top hole inthe cable adjustment bracket and move tothe next hole away from the top of thebracket. See second figure.

• Pull cable slack through cable adjustmentbracket and insert in the control bar. See

third figure.

• Replace boot o_/er cable adjustmentbracket.

• Insert "Z" hook in the auger control bar.See second figure.

• Start the snow thrower and check that the

auger does not continue to turn when theauger control bar is released.

TO REMOVE TOP COVER

• Follow these steps from operator'sposition.

• Remove the T-knob and fasteners on the

discharge chute.

• Remove the gas cap.

• Remove the two bolts and nuts from the

front lip of the top cover. Use a flat headscrewdriver and a 3/8" wrench. See figure

c,n this page.

• Remove the Idolt from the front right side.Use a 5/16" and 3/8" wrench.

• Remove the four screws on the left side

of the top cover. Use a large flat headscrewdriver. See figure on this page.

• Remove the bolt from the front left side.Use a 5/16" and 3/8" wrench.

• Remove the four screws on the right sideof the top cover. Use a large flat head

screwdriver. See figure on this page.

• Remove the three screws from the topportion of the control panel. Use a largeflat head screwdriver.

• Carefully pull up on the rear of top covermaking sure to clear gas tank.

• Carefully lift top cover over the three bolts

holding the lower chute to the chute ring.NOTE: This area was designed to havea tight fit, it will be necessary to rock topcover carefully over these bolts.

• Remove top cover.

• Reinstall in reverse order.

TO REMOVE BELT COVER

• Follow these steps from operator'sposition.

• Remove the four bolts and nuts holdingthe belt cover to the auger housing. Usea 5/16" and 3/8" wrench.

• Remove the two screws holding the beltcover to the top cover. Use a large flathead screwdriver. NOTE: If the top coveris already removed, omit this step.

• Remove the one screw holding the beltcover to the bottom cover. Use a largeflat head screwdriver.

• Grasp the bottom portion of the belt coverand pull down and out to remove.

• Reinstall in reverse order.

TO ADJUST BRAKE PAD

The brake pad isadjusted at the factory and noperiodic adjustment is necessary.

IMPORTANT: Adjustment should only bemade to the brake if the brake pad hasbecome loose or has been removed. Toadjust proceed as follows:

NOTE: See figure on next page for proper

location of brake pad.

•Tum engine off.

• Remove belt cover. See To Remove Belt

Cover paragraph on this page.

• Remove the top cover. See To RemoveTop Cover instructions on page 12-13.

NOTE: Make sure the belt is in properposition. See To Replace the Drive Beltparagraph on page 14.• Tie the control bail to the upper handle

with a piece of string. NOTE: This willengage the pulley and belt system.

• Using a 7/16•wrench, 7/16 socket, and arachet loosen screw and nut on brake

pad. See first figure on page 14 forlocation of screw and nut.

• Adjust brake pad up or down to have a1/8" gap between the bottom of the brakepad and the belt.

• Tighten screw and nut.13

TO REPLACE THE DRIVE BELT

The drive belt on this unit is of specialconstruction and must be replaced with thesame type belt available at your nearestCraftsman Service Center.

• Remove the belt cover. See to Remove

the Belt Cover paragraph on page 13.

• Move belt guide away from belt. See nextfigure. Belt may come out withoutloosening belt guide. Carefully press idlerpulley down to release brake pressure onbelt. See second figure on this page.

• Remove belt from between brake padand relier. See second figure on this

page.• Remove old belt.

• Replace with new belt by carefullypressing down on the idler pulley andplacing the belt between the brake padand roller with belt ribs down.

, Release belt pulley.

• Attach new belt to the engine pulley andauger pulley.

• Make sure the belt is seated properly.

• Move belt guide into position. The beltguide should be 3/32" from belt when beltis engaged as shown in third figure.

• Reinstall belt cover.

TO REPLACE THE AUGER

• Remove the belt cover, see To RemoveBelt Cover paragraph on page 13 and thedrive belt. See the Drive Belt Replace-ment paragraph on this page.

• Remove the auger pulley, see figurebelow from the auger shaft (threads areleft hand; turn clockwise to remove). Placea piece of wood (2x4) on the centerpaddle area to secure auger to keep fromturning.

• Remove the bearing assembly from theleft frame of snow thrower by removingthe two nuts. See figure below.

• Slide the auger assembly out of thebearing assembly on the right side of thesnow thrower.

• Tip the auger assembly enough to allow itto slide out of the auger housing.

• Install the new auger assembly in reverseorder of removal.

TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGNOTICE: This spark ignition system meetsall requirements of the Canadian Interfer-ence-Causing Equipment Regulations.

NOTICE: This engine complies with all cur-rent Australian and New Zealand limitaionsregarding electromagnetic interference.

The spark plug is underneath the controlpanel and is accessible through the sparkplug access cover.

• Remove black plastic spark plug accesscover by squeezing the sides and pullingcover away. See figure below.

• The spark plug and wire are now visible.

• Push the spark plug wire onto the sparkplug.

• Reinstall the bottom cover.

ENGINE SERVICE

Unless the operator is fully qualified tomake engine repairs or adjustments, werecommend that such work should be done

by technicians trained to work on snowthrower type engines. Take your snowthrower to your nearest Craftsman ServiceCenter for repair and adjustment.

ADJUST ENGINE SPEED

Your engine speed has been factory set. Donot attempt to change engine speed or it mayresult in personal injury. If you believe thatthe engine is running too fast or too slow, takeyour snow thrower to your nearest CraftsmanService Center for repair and adjustment.

• Remove the spark plug wire.

• Clean the area around the plug base toprevent dirt from entering the enginewhen the plug is removed.

• Remove the spark plug. If it is cracked,fouled or dirty, it must be replaced. Seepage 10 for the proper replacement plug.

• Set the gap between the electrodes of thenew spark plug at .030 inch. Next, installthe spark plug in the cylinder head.

• Torque plug to 18 to 20 ft. lb. If you do notuse a torque wrench, tighten the plugfirmly.

Z_ WARNING: Never store your snowthrower indoors or in an enclosed, poorly

ventilated area. If gasoline remains in thetank, fumes may reach an open flame,

spark or pilot light from a furnace, waterheater, clothes dryer, cigarette, etc.

To prevent engine damage (if snow throweris not used for more than 30 days) follow

the steps below.

SNOW THROWER STORAGE

• Thoroughly clean the snow thrower.

• Lubricate all the lubrication points. Seethe Maintenance section, page 11.

• Be sure that all nuts, bolts and screws are

securely fastened. Inspect all visiblemoving parts for damage, breakage andwear. Replace if necessary.

• Touch up art rusted or chipped paintsurfaces; sand lightly before painting.

• Cover the bare metal parts of the blowerhousing and auger with rust preventative,

such as a spray lubricant.

ENGINE STORAGE

Gasoline must be removed or treated to

prevent gum deposits from forming in thetank, filter, hose, and carburetor duringstorage. Also during storage, alcoholblended gasoline that uses ethanol ormethanol (sometimes called gasohel)attracts water, it acts on the gasoline to

form acids which damage the engine.• To remove gasoline, run the engine until

the tank is empty and the engine stops.Then drain remaining gasoline fromcarburetor by pressing upward on bowldrain located on the bottom of carburetor.

I! you do not want to remove gasoline, afuel stabilizer (such as Craftsman fuelstabilizer No. 33500) may be added to

any gasotine left in the tank to minimizegum deposits and acids. If the tank isalmost empty, mix stabilizer with freshgasoline in a separate container and addsome to the tank. Always follow instruc-tions on stabilizer container. Instructionson stabilizer container. Then run engineat least 10 minutes after stabilizer isadded to allow mixture to reach carbure-tor. Store snow thrower in a safe place.

See Warning under STORAGE.

OTHER

• If possible, store your snow throwerindoors with the gas removed and cover itto give protection from dust and dirt.

• If the machine must be stored outdoors,

block up the snow thrower to be sure theentire machine is off the ground.

• Cover the snow thrower with a suitable

protective cover that does not retainmoisture. Do not use plastic or vinyl.

NOTE: A yearly checkup or tune-up at aCraftsman Service Center is a good way ofensuring that your snow thrower wiltprovide maximum performance for the nextseason.
