The various types of prefabricated elements that the company can provide are: panels, slabs, prestressed beams, girders, panels of different types (sandwich, insulated, etc), support walls, parapets, non-prestressed beams, platforms. The prefabrication unit at the BCS site manufactures in several covered and heated halls with a total area of 13,000 m², a stor- age area outside of 12 ha and 16 overhead cranes from 5 to 40 tonnes. The equipment available to the company is: rein- forcing workshop with a capacity of 300 tonnes per month, woodworking workshop for the wood + framework for the moulds, a polishing bench with a length of 55 metres for ar- chitectural facades, bush hammering and sandblasting. The production of precast concrete elements is guaranteed by two concrete batching plants with automated cement or aggregate silos and all moulds for the production of concrete elements for heavy industrial prefabrication. BCS Prefabrication's choice of partner for the project and the realization of the concrete distribution system and the moulds fell on Bianchi Casseforme s.r.l., an Italian family-owned com- pany established in 1964 and active all over the world with a wide range of services and products for the precast industry and industrial building construction. Cooperation between Bianchi and BCS started in 1996 with the first delivery of a Speedy vehicle for the distribution of concrete. Since then, Bianchi has provided a truly complete range of products that covers almost all the necessary equip- ment for a precast factory: steel moulds for all types of pre- fabricated elements, prestressing accessories, magnets, lifting beams and Speedy machines for concrete distribution. All the concrete panels are produced on a 4 metre-wide and 32 metres long tilting table. ture with sheet metal thickness of 10 mm, reinforced withmetal profiles forming a robust structure placed on a basewith a laminated structure. In the lowered position the tableis supported by neoprene anti-vibration plates; the hydrauliclifting with a maximum inclination of 80 ° is done by extend-able cylinders, pipes for oil distribution, retention valves forgentle lowering; the lower side allows the production of pan-els with a height of 150 mm; the tilting of the table is done byan electrohydraulic unit predisposed for the lifting of the tablewith several pumps on the same motor in order to guaranteethe uniform lifting of the table even in the case of unsymmet-rical loads; the unit is supplied with a manual control lever, aflashing light and indicators to identify the operations associ-ated with the levers.

Floor slabs are produced on a self-reacting table with a ca-pacity of 500 tonnes and 73 m long, a width of 2.5 m, with300 mm-high sides with 2 lateral and 1 central side. Columnsare produced in double mould with two pockets with a lengthof 43 metres, a fixed central section with the possibility of theproduction of columns with a width of 50 cm or 60 cm, hy-draulic opening when demoulding. The mould consists of a6 mm thick steel plate in contact with the concrete; castingfrom the top without the need for upper closures. The sidesand base soffit are moved by hydraulic jacks and the com-

plete closure during concreting is guaranteed by fast-lockingscrews. The base is made of steel profiles for support and han-dling of the sides and the soffit. The base soffit can be openedby lateral movement of sides by a hydraulic system and in theopen position with a 60 cm base there is an area of 10 cm oneach side.

Height variations are obtained by lifting the bottom with in-terchangeable manual thicknesses. The mould is composedof 1 fixed side with a height of 70 cm; 1 central side with aheight of 70 cm with a hydraulic opening; 1 lateral side witha height of 70 cm with a hydraulic opening and a completework platform.

Smaller prestressed girders are produced in 2 battery mouldswith 4 fixed cells 15 m in length. Larger pre-stressed beamsare produced on two 100 metre-long lines, consisting of abase frame hydraulically actuated for the positioning of basesoffit and lateral sides and a metal structure for anchoring thestrands.

The base frame is placed between the two strand anchors andconsists of channel transversal steel beams on stop vibrationdevices; special screws for blocking the laterals moulds dur-ing pouring operations placed on the steel frame; a pair ofwalkways along the entire length of the frame base; the basefeatures an interchangeable base soffit. The hydraulic plantconsists of jacks, a hydraulic pump with levers and oil pipes,the jacks pull and push the lateral sides from and to the soffit.All the movements of the sides are controlled by a hydraulicpump placed at the end of the mould. It is operated manuallyvia a remote control.

The strand anchoring structure for the prestressed concretebeam line is designed for a load of 1000 T on the first line and500 T on the second. Consisting of 1 group of steel beams,with 2 columns at the jack side placed in holes 2.00 m deep,a 60 cm internal space for beams, 1 perforated beam thatslides during relaxation operations complete with holes for0.6" wires; 1 perforated column complete with holes for 0.6"strands at the fixed side; 1 set of strand relaxation devicesconsisting of 4 single-action cylinders with a total capacity of1000 tonnes at 350 bar of oil pressure: 1 device supportingthe stressing jack during stressin process welded to the an-choring structure; 1 hydraulic device for removing the cylin-der spacers without manual intervention.Bianchi's scope of supply to the Richwiller plant extends tomany accessories such as precast concrete transport axleswith a total load capacity of 50 tonnes at a max speed of 10km/h, consisting of an anterior group with a drawbar with a

length of 2 metres complete with hook, toe for steering, rigidmetallic structure for bearing loads, 4 pneumatic wheels withwheel hub brake; a rear steering group consisting of a metalstructure, 4 pneumatic wheels with wheel hub brake; totalwidth 2.5 m, height above ground 1.1m.All hydraulic units for stressing the strands, as well as the jacks,or hydraulic units for detensioning prestressing cylinders,strand pushing machines on prestressing production linesand lifting beams for precast elements were also supplied byBianchi.

Finally, the complete system for distributing concrete from theconcrete plant to the moulds is managed by 6 Speedy vehi-cles. Thanks to their versatility and manoeuvrability, they rep-resent a rational and a cost-saving solution for achieving quicktransport along with precise distribution of concrete to theprecast plants, with a remarkable decrease in casting cycletime. A single operator carries concrete from the concretebatching plant and distributes into the moulds with a forefrontarm. This machine has the following operating features: • rigid structure suitable for operation on rocky roads; • propulsion by means of a diesel engine driven by

hydraulic servo-mechanisms;

• transport of concrete without any aggregate segregationphenomena;

• distributing and unloading system effected through anArchimedean screw, this operation ensures the correctquantity of concrete needed in every position;

• reduced wheelbase to guarantee a minimum radius ofcurvature and allowing operation in tight spaces; onlyone operator, in an ergonomic position, able to controlany movement of the machine by a set of levers; dailymaintenance consists only of the cleaning of compo-nents that come into contact with concrete.

During the year 2016 BCS realized two additional investmentsto modernize its equipment and increase its production ca-pacity. The chosen supplier was once again Bianchi, whichsupplied the sixth Speedy with the second production line for100 m prestressed beams with hydraulically operated baseframe, anchoring abutments with a capacity of 500 tonnesand lateral sides for the production of rectangular beams. �
