Biography

André has had an extraordinary 37‐year career and has played a key role in the establishment and development of numerous programs and initiatives that have left an indelible mark on the profession of Audiology.

André Lafargue’s boundless energy and passion is unparalleled! Born on the French Islands of St Pierre et Miquelon he studied at Memorial University of Newfoundland and the University of British Columbia. In 1987, Andre and his family moved to Fredericton where he lead the development of SLP & Audiology services in Central New Brunswick.

André believes that sharing his love of the profession with others and cultivating the same feelings of pride and passion in their hearts is his greatest lasting legacy; it is what will ensure that the light he has shone on Audiology remains.

Laura Silver has spent more than 20 years in the beauty industry coaching and mentoring salon professions. She is a business owner and consults other owners in Canada and the US. With a business, a busy travel schedule and a family she understands the struggle to find balance. She has recently become a yoga teacher and considers this another tool to add to her toolbox. In her balance class she will provide some tools and ways to help you create your own personal balance.

Meet Funny Motivational Speaker, Jody Urquhart

Shediac is recognized the world over as "The Lobster Capital of the World" for its lobster fishing industry. For that reason, in 1989 the Shediac Rotary Club thought it fitting to erect a monument in tribute of the delectable crustacean and promote its role in the development of our community.

The late Winston Bronnum from Penobquis, New Brunswick, was commissioned to create this magnificent showpiece.

The monument stands at 11 m (35 ft.) in length, 5 m (16 ft.) in width and 5 m (16 ft.) in height. Why is it called the World's Largest Lobster? Because the sculpture weighs around 90 tonnes; the lobster alone weighs 55 tonnes while the pedestal weighs around 35 tonnes. A staircase was erected on the pedestal to allow visitors to climb up on the monument to have their pictures taken.
