Relevant information can be found in the Fact sheet - Proofs of origin . 2 Special circumstances 2.1 Customs permit form no. 15.30 / 15.40 If a customs permit form no. 15.30 / 15.40 exists for a vehicle, this must be presented at the customs office for cancellation upon re-exportation. 2.2 Transfer of residence abroad In the case of vehicles exported within the framework of a change of place of residence, the procedure is based on the general provisions (see section 1). 2.3 Returned goods Domestic vehicles (tax and duty paid) that are re-exported after permanent importation are to be declared as foreign returned goods upon re-exportation. You will receive a refund of the charges paid at the time of importation, provided the conditions are met (see the Fact sheet on the refund of import duties and tax due to re-exportation ).

Exporting motor vehicles and trailers

1 Declaration

Vehicles that are destined to remain abroad permanently are to be declared spontaneously

at a manned border customs office.

This declaration is to be made during customs office opening hours.

Bring all supporting documents (invoice, purchase contract, vehicle registration document,

etc.) that are necessary for the assessment.

A certificate of origin has to be issued if you wish to apply for a preferential tariff assessment

in the country of destination. Relevant information can be found in the Fact sheet - Proofs of

origin.

2 Special circumstances

2.1 Customs permit form no. 15.30 / 15.40

If a customs permit form no. 15.30 / 15.40 exists for a vehicle, this must be presented at the

customs office for cancellation upon re-exportation.

2.2 Transfer of residence abroad

3 Vehicle registration document/number plates

Vehicles intended for exportation can be taken abroad with the following number plates:

Swiss number plates

Restricted Swiss number plates

Swiss commercial number plates and collective permit

The cantonal vehicle licensing offices can provide the relevant information.
