PR E A C H E R S A N D SP E A K E R S. The Provost will begin the academicyear in Chapel by speaking at the 6.00 p.m. Evensong on 1 October.The College clergy will preach at the following Sunday morningcommunion services: 1, 15, 22, 29 October, 5 and 19 November.

VI S I T I N G PR E A C H E R S at this term’s Sunday services will be Dr Andrew Chandler, Director of the Bishop George Bell Institute,Birmingham (8 October, Matins); Professor A S McGrade, KC 1964 (5 November, Evensong); The Rt Revd Richard Holloway, formerlyBishop of Edinburgh (26 November, Sung Eucharist). The Chaplainwill preach on Remembrance Sunday (12 November, Matins) and onChristmas Day.

SUNDAY MORNINGS. Junior and senior, resident and non-residentmembers of College and their guests are welcome for sherry or softdrinks in E4 after the morning service.

IL L U S T R A T I O N S. The cover and inside illustrations are taken fromAlbrecht Dürer’s woodcuts of scenes from the ‘Life of the Virgin’ andfrom ‘The Small Passion’ (1500-1512). They are ‘Nativity Scene’(cover); the Annunciation (September); the Visitation (October); theadoration of the shepherds (November); the adoration of the Magi(December).

SE R V I C E S are sung by King’s College Choir on Tuesdays to Sundays,and on Mondays by the College’s mixed-voice choir, King’s Voices.Exceptions are listed.

CAROL SERVICES

Admission to the is by invitation only.

The is primarily intended forthe City of Cambridge and the general public. Apart from thosereserved for members of College and their guests, seats are keptfor those who are prepared to queue. Normally anyone joiningthe queue before 11.00 a.m. will gain admission, but it is not guaranteed that this will be so. The queue is admitted at 1.30 p.m.The Service begins at 3.00 p.m. We advise that this service is notsuitable for young children.

Carols are sung at the at 11.00 a.m. at which children are welcome. After places have beenkept for members of the College and their guests, visitors will bewelcomed, as at all the regular choral services throughout theyear.
