QUESTIONS

ITEM NO. 1 Question: Is a cost estimate/range available for project? Answer: $1,300,000 + ITEM NO. 2 Question: Is this project open for bid and are there updated plans and specs

available? Answer: The Project is open for bid to the Airport’s four (4) pre-approved

on-call general contractors. Sub-contractors should contact one of the Airport’s four (4) pre-approved on-call general contractors for plans, specifications and to be included on one or more of their teams. The approved general contractors are Crescrent Construction, Paulsen Construction, Pine Tree Construction and Saunders Construction Inc. See the attached attendance list for additional information.

ITEM NO. 3 Question: Several of the drawings would indicate that the overhead door is

sectional door. (Ref detail 8/A601) The specs are for a sectional door. If the sectional door is wanted, we would want to have 24” high lift track for jackshaft operator proper function. If standard lift track is required there will be

a trolley operator above the door with the motor approximately 14’ back from the opening. We have usually seen coiling doors in this application.

Answer: A sectional door is required for the project. Please see the revised

drawings and details (A601) included in the addendum.

SECTION 11 13 00 - LOADING DOCK EQUIPMENT

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS

A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.

1.2 SUMMARY

A. Section Includes: 1. Laminated Loading Dock bumpers.

B. Related Sections: 1. Section 03 30 00 "Cast-in-Place Concrete" 2. Section 26 51 19 "LED Interior Lighting" and Section 26 56 19 "LED Exterior

Lighting" for dock lighting fixtures.

1.3 DEFINITIONS

A. Operating Range: Maximum amount of travel above and below the loading dock level.

B. Working Range: Recommended amount of travel above and below the loading dock level for which loading and unloading operations can take place.

1.4 ACTION SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. Include construction details, material descriptions, dimensions of individual components and profiles, and finishes for loading dock equipment. Include rated capacities, operating characteristics, electrical characteristics, and furnished specialties and accessories.

B. Shop Drawings: For loading dock equipment. Include plans, elevations, sections, details, and attachments to other work. 1. Detail equipment assemblies and indicate dimensions, weights, loads, required

clearances, method of field assembly, components, and location and size of each field connection.

levelers with requirements in MH 30.1 for determining rated capacity, which is based on comprehensive testing within last two years of current products. 1. Submittal Form: According to MH 30.1, Appendix A.

D. Warranty: Sample of special warranty.

1.6 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS

A. Operation and Maintenance Data: For loading dock equipment to include in operation and maintenance manuals.

1.7 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Welding Qualifications: Qualify procedures and personnel according to the following: 1. AWS D1.1/D1.1M, "Structural Welding Code - Steel." 2. AWS D1.3, "Structural Welding Code - Sheet Steel."

B. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70, by a qualified testing agency, and marked for intended location and application.

1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Field Measurements: Verify actual dimensions of construction contiguous with loading dock equipment, including recessed pit dimensions, slopes of driveways and heights of loading docks, by field measurements before fabrication.

1.9 WARRANTY

A. Warranty for Dock bumpers: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. 1. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:

a. Structural failures including cracked or broken structural support members, load-bearing welds.

2. Warranty Period for Assembly: 10 years from date of Substantial Completion.

1.10 MAINTENANCE SERVICE

A. Initial Maintenance Service: Beginning at Substantial Completion, provide 12 months' full maintenance by skilled employees of loading dock equipment Installer. Include quarterly preventive maintenance, repair or replacement of worn or defective components, lubrication, cleaning, and adjusting as required for proper loading dock equipment operation at rated speed and capacity. Provide parts and supplies the same as those used in the manufacture and installation of original equipment.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 DOCK BUMPER

A. Bumper: Durable Dura-Soft Bumper (Basis of Design) 1. Projection from Wall: 5-1/2 inches (140 mm). 2. Vertical Height: 12 inches (305 mm); 4 inch (102 mm) bolt hole centers. 3. Length: 11 inches (279 mm).

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Contractor & Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Position bumpers, spaced as indicated on drawings.

C. Secure angle end frames to dock face of: 1. Steel plate embedded and mounted to face of CMU.

3.4 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
