Teela says.....Hello to one and all

I always start off talking about the weather and this time is no different so I hope you all enjoyed the brief but lovely Summer we have just had – I guess that’s it for the year now as the light days start to descend towards those long, cold, dark nights of the Winter months. This edition of the Newsletter features the Sparkle festival in July which, if you haven’t been hibernating, you will know that we at Transpose organised the Miss Sparkle Pageant 2012 which was absolutely fantastic, if I do say so myself. Tilly will go into detail (as she usually does) about the Pageant and for some of you, those words, screeched from Tilly’s lips “YOU, GET IN LINE!!” will come flooding back.

We only managed to get to Sparkle on the Saturday but the rain kept off and the day was a resounding success so I must publicly thank Bella Jay and all the Sparkle team for organising the festival and the ongoing work that goes on behind the scenes.

Dave was there with his camera documenting the day and of course, the Miss Sparkle Pageant itself. There was a VERY high calibre of contestants this year and thank you all who participated and all who spectated. If anyone would like a copy of the DVD with all the pictures Dave took on the day, a copy is yours for £2.50 – details in the Newsletter.

Love from Me,

Teela-Janexxxxx

The next few pages are dedicated to Sparkle 2012 and the Miss Sparkle Pageant.

What a fantastic day, the Sparkle Saturday was and so many turned out to join in the fun and festivities. We took our wellies and brollies but luck was on our side and it didn’t rain a drop that day.

Dave was in the park with his camera and captured the day in his unique way. Although hundreds of photos were taken, we could only include just a few. Pics of all the contestants on the catwalk were taken and also during the registration and run through at the Icon Bar, earlier in the day. If anyone would like a copy on DVD of all the photos for £2.50, please email [email protected] for details.

Ladies ladies how fabulous was Sparkle this year?! Firstly Teela and I would like to thank

all those girls who took part in and made the beauty pageant such a success you were all fantastic and we hope you all had as much fun as we did.

The sun shined on the event and was very well attended I must say. Teela, as usual, was deluged by re-quests for her fantastic makeup skills which unfortunately she was not able to attend to due to the pag-eant but it just shows how popular she is and how well Transpose is known. Maybe next year girls…..who knows.

Most of you were looking a little ol-ive this year – someone had some sun……..or are we just better at fak-ing it! lol Apparently summer is on the horizon so remember tanned arms and white shoulders hmmm oh dear! This is where the need for self tans can become quite urgent.

I have often waxed lyrical over the necessary process of body scrubbing before applying fake tans so wont go over it again but I will, for those of you who are new to it give you some pointers on the use and application of the dreaded fake tan!

We all have our favourites, some of us like the ‘instant’ tans, some like the infused body lotions, and of course, the traditional ‘slap it on and wait 3 hours’ stuff. Whichever prod-uct you choose try to match to your skin – by that I mean don’t pick a really thick cream if your skin is oily, much better to use a lighter lotion and apply it a couple of times.

I have trialled, as you would expect, a myriad of tans (half empty bottle are available on request!!), creams, lotions, and sprays that take any-where from an instant to 4 hours to ‘take’ and last from next wash to a week. I must say there is no ideal and although most have lost that old fashioned pongy smell unfortunately the ones that last the longest still re-tain a slightly sour odour. There are also some really good ‘Imitation Va-cation’ products which wipe on and wash off for a particular event.

Applying self tan can be a bit of an art (and not one I have always been good at – have done the ‘tango’, streak and blob effect a number of times, particularly when trialling them) and I can tell you through my trialling I have applied different makes to different areas and forgot which went where resulting in long sleeves on hot days – DON’T DO IT!

Try to choose a product in a large enough container that will do all the areas you need to do, legs in odd shades is not a good look in daylight, this is really important when you are looking at the spray versions. Un-happily most of my sprays ended up all over my white bathroom tiles – not very good at judging the dis-tance it needed to be from my skin and in an effort not to ‘overspray’ onto legs etc., managed to get pass-able effect on legs but at a cost of 2/3rd s of the product up the wall – plus you do need to be a bit of a contortionist to get to some places – hmmmm that maybe just me!

My favourites are the lotions, and al-though I have very dry skin I prefer to use a little, often, rather than wal-lop a ton of cream on and strike

a kind of warlord pose in the bed-room/bathroom for 20 mins while it soaked in a little, but the choice is yours – whatever floats your boat! Most of the larger department stores and chemist type places (no plugs!) have samples you can try and I would suggest where there are sa-chets try these first to gauge what colour they will end up eventually before ladling it on for a special oc-casion, particularly if you are trying to match arms and shoulders.

Another really important tip – make sure you wash your hands thorough-ly after you have applied creams / lotions as they are really difficult to see before they ‘take’ and orange hands is also another ‘not good look’ – oh and don’t dry them on light towels as it can be difficult to wash off.

Reliable brands I have come across in the body lotion category which develop over a couple of hours are Johnsons Holiday Skin, probably the most famous of gradual tanners, has a fresh aroma making it a joy to use (it said on the bottle!). Garnier lo-tion which comes in 3 shades and Teela has used Dove with some suc

A warm Transpose welcome to Gail and Kaye – another one of our couples who tried the Double Trouble photoshoot. Gail searched and searched the web looking for a studio that would take both her cross dressing partner and herself and thankfully, came across Transpose. Gail loved the website and all the pics of girls in the Gallery, got in touch and came along but not before putting her partner, Kaye, on a diet.

We had a fabulous day and they were so pleased with the results and the photos that they booked another photoshoot there and then! Looking forward to having them both back – they were great company. See you both in December!!!

cess. St Tropez tan intensifier goes on with a colour but there’s no need to wash this off, other than from your hands. Blends well and leaves a brown rather than yellow-based colour that’s ideal for medium to dark skin tones or for enriching an existing tan

In the spray range L’Oreal Sub-lime spray mist, how easy is this? Spray a fine veil of mist for an even colour. It dries instantly, but give eyebrows a quick wipe, if us-ing face version, to prevent clog-ging. Repeat if you want a deeper result.

And for the ‘instant’ tanners, Marks & Spencer Sun Formula Healthy Glow Self Tan wipes are £5 for pack of 10 (lol prices accu-rate at time of print!!) are lightly fragranced and non-greasy, these wipes, which can also be used on your face, make application a doddle. Keep wiping thoroughly and only skim over knees and elbows at the end to ensure an even, golden, streak-free tan.

This application goes for which-ever type of tan you use.

I could go on and fill pages with different products but these will give you the gist of what’s out there, there are of course many ‘own brands’ within the super-markets which I am sure will work but it really is trial and hopefully not too much error to find the one that suits both your needs and your skin tones.

See you all soon.

Lots love Tilly xxx
