TOPIC  ONE:  MASKS:  Masks  are  accessories  that  can  be  put  on  to  hide  away  your  face.  Masks  can  be  used  in  a  covert  way,  for  example  hiding  yourself  from  geSng  caught.  Or  masks  can  be  used  in  an  obscured  way  where  they  can  be  used  to  hide  your  face  from  seeing  things  for  example  hiding  the  truth  of  a  secret  passage  way.        5  FACTS:    1.   Used  in  tradiUons  such  as  the  masquerade  ball.  2.   Greek  masks  had  mouth  pieces  which  helped  enhance  the  actors/actresses  voice  3.   Many  African  masks  depict  animals  as  they  are  said  to  be  linked  to  tribesmen  hence  

the  land  and  nature  around  them.  Some  common  masks  would  be  hawks  or  buffalo.    4.   SomeUmes  masks  would  be  worn  in  anger  during  such  as  war.  5.   Geometric  pa\erns  are  essenUal  in  the  design  of  African  masks.      5  STATISTICS  1.   According  to  the  FBI  nearly  one  every  5  seconds  does  an  arm  robbery  occur  in  the  US  

alone.  2.   Some  masks-­‐  if  very  famous  can  go  for  as  high  as  one  million  dollars.  3.   The  mask  called  Musee  de  la  bible  et  Terre  Sainte  is  known  as  the  oldest  mask  in  the  

world.  It’s  made  out  of  stone  and  it  is  from  the  Ume  of  700  BC.  4.   The  disUncUve  styles  of  masks  began  to  come  about  in  1200  BC  in  the  pre-­‐  Hispanic  

America  Umes.  5.   The  carnival  of  Venice,  a  carnival  where  everyone  is  equal  behind  their  masks  is  

dated  back  to  1268  AD.

TOPIC  ONE:  CLAUSTROPHOBIA  :  Is  the  feeling  of  no  escape  or  no  exit.  People  who  are  claustrophobic  usually  don’t  like  Ught  spaces.  Claustrophobia  is  mainly  linked  in  with  being  obscured  as  claustrophobia  is  a  fear-­‐  a  feeling  that  some  people  don’t  want  to  feel.      5  FACTS:    1.  Claustrophobia  has  two  main  fears.  A  fear  of  restric7on  or  suffoca7on.  2.  Some  people  who  get  claustrophobic  find  it  difficult  to  breath  in  such  situa7ons.    3.  Claustrophobia  is  not  only  the  fear  of  being  irritated  by  being  in  small  places  but  what  

the  out  come  could  be.  4.  The  amygdala  a  part  in  the  back  of  your  brain  is  mainly  where  claustrophobia  starts.    5.  In  vivo  exposure  is  a  method  which  involves  people  facing  their  fears  in  order  to  get  

over  them  

5  STATISTICS  1.  In  the  field  of  psychiatry  Benjamin  Ball  brought  in  the  term  claustrophobia  in  1879.    2.  Less  than  5%  of  American  suffer  from  claustrophobia.  3.  Twice  as  many  women  as  men  suffer  from  claustrophobia    4.  Claustrophobia  affects  about  10%  of  the  popula7on  in  the  UK  5.  An  experience  that  was  said  had  21  miners  who  had  been  trapped  underground  for  14  

days.  Six  miners  died  of  suffoca7on  and  aRer  being  rescued  10  miners  were  monitored  for  10  years.  One  miner  survived  as  he  was  the  leader.  However  six  of  those  developed  phobia’s.

0°07'32.16"W,  0°07'32"W  3.  MI5  was  founded  in  1909  to  protect  the  Bri7sh  realm  against  German  infiltrators.    4.  An  intelligence  officer  gains  the  salary  of  £24,  750  +  benefits      5.  In  MI6  the  re7rement  age  is  kept  a  secret
