the shoot
Baronscourt has a long established history of shooting dating back to the
mid 1800’s. The Baronscourt Shoot provides one of the best sporting experiences
in Ireland and has developed an enviable reputation in shooting circles.

The game birds are all released to the woods in midsummer and are well feathered before the start of the season. All of the pheasants are reared on the Estate, with careful attention paid to favouring only the most vigorous and challenging flyers.
Driven game shooting takes place over the Estate’s 5,500 acres. The twenty drives provide a variation of shooting experiences from ancient woodland thoughtfully combined with strategically located game crops of kale or artichoke. Several of the drives take place against the stunning backdrop of the three lakes located in the Baronscourt valley, each offering some of the most challenging birds in Ireland.
Eight guns shooting in the field is the ideal number. Bag size is normally around 300-400 birds per day in October and November, and in December the average size is 200-250. We can offer two or four back to back shooting days.On the shoot all the guns are transported in our shootbus, experienced loaders are provided for each gun andammunition is supplied by the Estate.
The Estate is also home to a herd of wild Japanese Sika deer, and our management of the herd was recognised with the Laurent Perrier Award for Wild Game Conservation. In 2015 our venison won the prestigious Golden Fork Award for Northern Ireland in the Great Taste Awards, and has been in the Top 50 Foods for two years running, out of 10,000 entries in the UK.
Our highly experienced team of gamekeepers have been with the Estate for many years and continually strive to improve and develop the sporting experience for our guests.

The house has been sensitively decorated over the years
by the Duchess much with the assistance of renowned
interior designer, the late David Hicks. There are eight
double bedrooms all with their own bathrooms. The house
is well heated by a dedicated woodchip boiler with all of
the woodchip produced on the Estate from its sustainably
managed forests. Wifi is available throughout the house.
The shooting package includes all meals and drinks. A pre-
agreed menu is thoughtfully created by our chef prior to
arrival using the fi nest locally sourced supplies, much of
which comes from the Estate such as wild salmon and our
award-winning wild venison. Our seafood, beef and lamb
are all sourced from only the very best suppliers in Northern
Ireland. The Duke has an excellent cellar with wines
carefully selected with the assistance of Michel Roux, the 3
star Michelin chef and proprietor of the famous Waterside
Inn which overlooks the Thames.
We hope that you will enjoy our friendliness and warm hospitality. Barons Court is one of the fi nest examples of Georgian architecture still in private hands in Ireland.
