5G - a brave new world Join the IET Rered Engineers Group for a presentaon on the expected benefits of a 5G network. Wednesday 4 April, 12:15pm - 2:00pm Engineers Australia, Level 11, 108 King William Street, Adelaide REGISTER NOW engineersaustralia.org.au TICKETS Each generaon of network technology has delivered a step change in how it enables users to communicate, conduct business, access services and entertainment. The move to 5G though will go beyond this and change how machines talk to machines, how cars talk to traffic lights and how drones become a delivery mechanism. This might sound futurisc – but the future is here. SPEAKER Channa Seneviratne Execuve Director - Network and Infrastructure Engineering-Telstra Channa will outline how 5G will deliver Enhanced, ultra-high bandwidth mobile broadband, Massive machine type communicaon (IoT) and Ultra-reliable low latency communicaon. He will talk through the steps Telstra is taking to get there including collaborang with technology vendors, start-ups and enterprise customers to help conduct field trials and test use cases throughout 2018. He’ll also discuss the underlying infrastructure to support our trials with the sub 6 frequency (3.4-3.6 GHz) and mm Wave in 2018, leading up to our start-up network in 2018. Telstra is already achieving speeds in excess of 3Gbps and latency of 6 milliseconds between Gold Coast and Brisbane in 5G trials. Come and hear the reasons we get in early and test the technology, including understand propagaon, configuraons, and capability so we can rollout an opmised network. A light lunch will be served at 12:15pm followed by a 1:00pm presentaon. EA, IET REG, IET, IEEE & TelSoc Member $10 EA Student Member $10 Society Member Rate $40 Non-member $40

TICKETSEach generation of network technology has delivered a step change in how it enables users to communicate, conduct business, access services and entertainment. The move to 5G though will go beyond this and change how machines talk to machines, how cars talk to traffic lights and how drones become a delivery mechanism. This might sound futuristic – but the future is here.

SPEAKER Channa Seneviratne Executive Director - Network and Infrastructure Engineering-Telstra

Channa will outline how 5G will deliver Enhanced, ultra-high bandwidth mobile broadband, Massive machine type communication (IoT) and Ultra-reliable low latency communication. He will talk through the steps Telstra is taking to get there including collaborating with technology vendors, start-ups and enterprise customers to help conduct field trials and test use cases throughout 2018.

Come and hear the reasons we get in early and test the technology, including understand propagation, configurations, and capability so we can rollout an optimised network.

A light lunch will be served at 12:15pm followed by a 1:00pm presentation.
