5G Alliance for Connected Industries and AutomationRelease 18 Requirements

• Many industrial requirements are included in Rel-16/17 3GPP SA1 documents (CAV studies and work items)

• no need for a(n extensive) Rel-18 study and TR in 3GPP SA1 on further industrial use cases and requirements

• traceability/tracking of vertical requirements in stage 2/3 work is needed!

Enhance-ments

5G Alliance for Connected Industries and AutomationRelease 18 Requirements

• Promote industrial requirements in Rel-18 that have not been selected in the Rel-17 SA prioritization, for instance,

• fully decentralized TSN configuration model• generalised concept for ProSe/sidelink usable in different vertical domains

• Specific further requirements based on experiences with first deployments and 5G hardware testing

• New industrial 5G use cases lead to further specific requirements for enhancements, e.g.

• Machine vision use case, with a focus on uplink video communication for, e.g. quality control

• Specific requirements based on ongoing work in 5G-ACIA, e.g.• 5G network exposure interface• Industrial 5G device• Contributions to evaluation models

• small, specific enhancements to requirements specifications

Questions for TSG Chairmen• Please indicate here your questions for the Chairmen

• Georg Mayer, TSG SA Chairman• Balazs Bertenyi, TSG RAN Chairman

Please indicate here: • Traceability/Tracking of vertical requirements through the different stages of 3GPP

specifications – what is the current status, when does it come?• How to inform about which vertical work item / set of requirements has been addressed in which

work items / 3GPP specifications in stage 2/3?• How to address functional areas of vertical industries that cover more than one

release?• How to cope better with the imbalance in vertical participation in stage 2/3 v. stage 1?• How to advance the discussion and dialogue between vertical requirements and 3GPP

technical specification? • How to better provide the flexibility, side conditions, and background information of

vertical requirements?
