It is not a traditional reading class. It is a full literacy class (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing). It is Project Based Learning and very collaborative. Students will essentially be doing mini-research projects all year about the topics that interest them so it will support all the other contents and their careers.
The English For Speakers of Other Languages program at the middle school level enrolls linguistically and culturally diverse secondary students, who require intensive structured English language instruction and orientation to a new cultural and academic environment. Students in Montgomery County Public Schools are assessed on a state-mandated test of language proficiency and placed in an appropriate level of ESOL instruction.
