5th Sunday of Lent
March 21 & 22, 2015
Ezekiel 37:12-14 I will put my spirit
in you that you
may live
Psalm 130 “With the Lord
there is mercy and
fullness of
redemption.
Romans 8:8-11 The Spirit of the
One who raised
Jesus from the
dead dwells in you.
John 11:1-45 or 11:3-7 I am the resurrection
17, 20-27,33b-45 and the life.
Today’s Gospel is one of the most dramatic in the New. Testament.
Yet what Jesus does for Lazarus is what God wants to do for each
and every one of us. As we listen to these sacred scriptures today,
let us reflect on where we have been dead in our own lives, and
where we need to be unbound and raised up in God’s redeeming
grace.
Palm Sunday
March 28 & 29 2015
Isaiah 50:4-7
Psalm 22
Philippians 2:6-11
Mark 14:1-15:47 or 15:1-39
Stations of the Cross
Thank you to all the ministries who have signed up to
help lead us in prayer!

Pro-Life Reflections
Do you reject Satan? And all his empty promises? ~Sacramentary Renewal of Baptismal Promise
Reflection. Lent is a time to pray for the catechumens of
the Church who are preparing to be baptized at the Easter
Vigil. The rest of us will renew our Baptismal Promises.
In these vows, we reject the empty promises of the devil.
One of those empty promises is abortion.
Prayer. Thank you, Lord, for the power of baptism in my
life by which I am able to affirm life each day against the
power of death!
Jesus tells us today that we are to be a dying grain of wheat,
producing much good fruit. What does this mean for us today?
Not that we are supposed to become doormats, letting the
world walk allover us Nor does it mean we are to actively
seek out suffering, to “play the martyr” and tell everyone
around us about all the sacrifices we are making Not even
Jesus wanted to suffer!
Today’s Gospel provides an absolutely core message for us
about being Christians. Yet, this message is rarely discussed
in “polite circles.” The message? If we follow Jesus, we will
still suffer. (Anticlimactic, right? Think about it some more
and you’ll see it is actually pretty deep.) Following Jesus or
not, we are still goint to have heartache, pain, death.
That said, Holy Week and today’s Gospel also tells us this:
though we will suffer, God promises to transform. We will
grow, become. And God will also transform others through
our sufferings. Die and know that God brings forth new life,
through you.
