Dear Parents and Guardians,
It’s hard to believe we only have three more days left of school. This year has flown by and the end of the year is upon us. We have a couple more activities planned next week and a great summer opportunity for all families, but I wanted to make sure I first said thank you to all of you that were involved in the good work we did this year. When schools have strong partnerships with parents, it is the students that benefit, and the community here at Prairieview is an excellent example of that. So thank you for taking the time to email, call, attend school events, and/or volunteer your time. Your involvement is what makes Prairieview a great place for kids.
Next week, on June 5th, Prairieview will have its annual field day. This is a day where students get to put into action all of the skills they learned in PE this year, and hopefully have a little fun in the process. Students will be outside for approximately 1 ½ hours to 2 hours so please have them dress for the weather. This includes sunscreen, which should be applied before students get to school. Finally, it is a good idea if all students have a water bottle, as they will be running around and want to remain hydrated.
Finally we have an exciting summer opportunity in which to invite families. As I am sure you have heard, through the joint effort of our dedicated teachers and fabulous PTO we have expanded our Outdoor Classroom to include 6 giant planter boxes. We have spent the last couple weeks of school planting a variety of things and we need your help maintaining those boxes over the summer. Below you will see a link to a Sign-Up Genius that allows families to pick a week and grade level over the summer. We ask that if you are able and sign up, you come to school and water that garden at least 3-4 times that week. This could be fun for our students to see how our planting is progressing over the summer and will ensure we have a full, healthy garden in the fall. Everything you will need to take care of the gardens will be provided and our school offices will be open Monday through Thursday during the summer, should you have any questions.

Estimados padres y guardianes,
Update on Late Starts for 2018
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I have had a couple of parents request that we survey parents regarding support forearly release versus late start. I initially thought that an early release was possible, butafter doing some research, I am finding that an early release would not allow the districtto continue the collaborative grade level work.
Our K-4 buildings would release at 1:00 and our 5-8 and Park Campus would release at2:00. This would prevent staff from working together. In addition, we have manystudents who participate in after-school activities. We would need supervision for thosestudents for over an hour.
When we chose late start, one of our deciding factors was the High School schedule. They have late starts each week, on Wednesdays. Parents requested that we follow thesame schedule to allow the older siblings to provide support for the younger ones.
We are continuing to look at options. However, at this time, the district will continue thelate start schedule.
Sincerely,Ellen Correll Ellen CorrellSuperintendent
