From researching into the indie/folk genre we realise that the artists are usually young white females. They usually have blonde or brown hair and have a look of youthfulness and innocence about them. Therefore we knew that this is the image of the artist that we are searching for. We realised that the outfits a majority of them wore are skirts and dresses with tights, therefore we know that when casting we have to choose someone that is comfortable wearing this kind of clothing. Additionally, we realised that it is conventional for most of the indie folk singers to play a guitar in their music videos, so in casting we have to sure that they are able to do this. The song we had chosen has elements of country pop in we then decided to look at artists from this genre also such as Taylor Swift and Carly Jae Repsen. Whilst researching, I realised that they were similar to indie pop singers, however the biggest difference was that they had a bit more edge to them, and were more bolder. This was shown through their clothing and the use of accessories such as top hats and jewellery. We are aware that it may be difficult to cast our main singer to have all of these traits, therefore we are happy that we can adjust her image with different props and costumes to suit these conventions.
