Create a Standard Account

• Standard account is a template for account and profile

• Make all the changes to this account• Copy the account to Default• Change .Default in the Registry

• Knowledge Base is your Friend!!

Desktop Icons

• New in SP1 after SysPrep– Internet Explorer– MSN Explorer– Microsoft Media Player

• Disable by:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OemStartMenuData]

“DoDesktopCleanup”=DWord 1

Power Management

• Give Standard Admin Privs

Or

• Edit the Profile in the Registry

Using Regedit.exe

• Log on as Administrator• Select HKEY_USERS and Load Hive

Load the Standard NTUSER• Edit .Default

This is the “before a user logs in” config

Copy Standard to Default User

• Log on as Administrator• Set View Files to show all hidden and

system files• Use My Computer, Properties,

Profiles

• DON’T RUN OFFICE!

Tidy up before Imaging

• Run Disk Cleanup• Run Defrag a number of times

– Run till no fragmentation

• Clear the MRUs (Task Bar Properties)• Clear Cookies, etc• Delete the Page File after SysPrep

– Boot from WinPE

Sysprep

• Create SysPrep folder and files from Deploy.cab

• Use Setup Manager• Don’t forget to change Product ID

to Product Key• Blank out things you want to be

prompted for
