Reputation, Relationships, Growth –these are the three powerful driving forces

behind everything Rishiroop. Today, this family-owned Group has three generations in the business, but the core values remain the same over six decades of its existence.

Founder and Chariman of Rishiroop, Mr Ma-hendra Kumar Kapoor, is one of the oldest and most respected members of the All In-dia Rubber Industries Association(AIRIA). The Indian Rubber Expo itself began under the guidance & tutelage of Mr Kapoor when he was the President of the Association. Known for his single-minded dedication and unrelenting commitment, he has built time-tested relationships and goodwill with all members of the Indian rubber industry, big or small.

Humble beginningsFrom humble beginnings as a small local rubber trading company, the group has di-versified into manufacturing products for the rubber industry, international distribu-tion of polymers, specialty chemical dis-tribution and even distribution of food ad-ditives and ingredients. Over a span of 60 years, Rishiroop has emerged as one of the leading partners in the Rubber & Chemical Industry of the region. The group has under-taken two joint ventures with Japanese and American partners which are considered to be prime examples of how transparency and trust form the backbone of a successful joint venture implementation.

Rishiroop was the pioneer for NBR / PVC, Factice and Chlorinated Rubber production in India under the brand names Vinoprene, Vinoplast, Vulcanol and Chlorub (respec-tively), using their own in-house technology. These products are quoted in some of the educational publications for university stu-dents and till date remain the benchmarks in their respective industries.

Over the last three decades, Rishiroop has earned the trust and support of several glob-al partners and today the Group represents over thirty international leading companies such as Kumho Petrochemicals, Kumho Polychem, Dow Corning, Momentive, Kra-ton & Eastman. With transparency and trust ingrained in all business practices and their focus on long-term relationships, Rishiroop continues to add complimentary product lines from reputable international partners to their basket of offerings every year.

Expanding footprintHeadquartered in India’s bustling financial capital, Mumbai, Rishiroop has expanded their footprint with offices and representa-tives in Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmed-abad and Kolkatta. In 2005, they ventured into international territories for the first time when the doors to their Dubai office opened to cater to business for the Middle East and North African territories. Rishi-roop has six manufacturing facilities in Na-shik, Vapi and Ankleshwar, and a technical applications laboratory for the coatings in-dustry in Mumbai.

Having a never ending appetite for growth, both organic and through new ventures or diversification, Rishiroop does not hesi-tate to reinvest into its businesses or new

projects. With an implicit faith and belief in relationships through partnership, Rishi-roop genuinely believe themselves to be the “Gateway to India” for global companies through partnership in distribution, out-sourced production or join ventures.

A focus on Research & Development and belief in their product have materialized in Puneet Polymers (one of the Group com-panies), being one of the only manufactur-ers of vulcanized vegetable oils (factice), under the brand name Vulcanol, globally to add additional capacity and reinvest in the business.

Honours and awardsRishiroop began manufacturing Chlorinat-ed Rubber under the brand name Chlorub in 1972. In 1979, the Government of India honored Rishiroop by bestowing upon it the Import Substitution Award for their in-house technology to produce chlorinated rubber. In 1990, Mr Arvind Kapoor decided to buy out the Hercules chlorinated rubber facility in USA, disassemble the plant, ship it to India and modernize and modify the plant to suit Rishiroop’s technology. This momentous occasion marked Rishiroop’s first venture into acquisition as well as its first public offering.

storage and use are critical requirements. It is commonly used in elastic threads, carpet backing, foamed rubber mat-tresses, gloves, baby bottle teats, medical products, hot water bottles, automotive components, electronic appliance hous-ings and paper coatings.

Rishiroop offers the widest tyre oil portfolio from the world’s leading Naphthenic Spe-ciality Oil company, Nynas. Nytex oils have been developed with a focus on meeting the European legislation which is in force since 2010 on HSE, and more recently, since Nov 2012, on tyre performance labelling. Nynas tyre oils have been proven to significantly reduce Rolling Resistance which helps to improve fuel economy & reduce carbon footprints thereby contributing to the green tyre revolution.

New partnershipAt IRE 2013, Rishiroop is announcing their new partnership with Showa Denko, Japan, a reputed producer of Polychloroprene rubber. Polychloroprene rubbers possess

exceptional resistance to weather, sun, ozone and abrasion and exhibit good re-silience, gas permeability, flame / heat / oil resistance. Their products are commonly used in the wire & cable, hose, belts, adhe-sives and molded / extruded / dipped goods industries.

Rishiroop will also be offering cobalt based salts from another new supplier, EGE Kimya, Turkey, under their brand - EGEBond. EGE Kimya has been a trusted manufacturer of rubber additives and various chemicals since 1955. Their cobalt based adhesion promoters (Cobalt Borodecanoates, Cobalt Neodecanoates and Cobalt Stearates) are ideally suited for steel belted radial tyres and steel reinforced conveyor belts and hoses.

Rishiroop remains committed to its part-ners (both suppliers and customers), with a promise to deliver quality products from leading companies worldwide, on time. Their strong emphasis on transparency with suppliers, customer centric focus and time tested relationships, whilst remembering their roots and core values, have served as their engine for growth.

fundamental of Rishiroop and has been acknowledged in national and global audi-ences for their efforts to maintain growth. For the second year in a row (2011 & 2012), Puneet Resins Ltd. was honored and award-ed by Forbes as being one of Asia’s Top 200 Companies titled “Best Under a Billion Dol-lars”. Each year Forbes magazine selects 200 companies in their list based on growth, performance, debt, etc, and in November last Mr Aditya Kapoor received the award on behalf of Puneet Resins Ltd. Puneet Res-ins Ltd. manufactures rubber compounds, including NBR / PVC blends under the brand names Vinoprene & Vinoplast.

Relationships. RishiChem began as a joint venture for specialty chemical distribution between Rishiroop and Chemcentral (later acquired by Univar). Today it is fully owned and controlled by Rishiroop and supplies specialty chemicals to a wide range of indus-tries (coatings, inks, adhesives, plastics, rub-ber, personal care, pharmaceuticals, etc).

New product offeringsAfter their recent plant expansion at the

end of 2012, Kumho Petrochemicals has increased its capacity to manufacture Carboxylated Styrene Butadiene Latex & Carboxylated Acrylonitrile Butadiene Latex.

SB Latex is used in carpet backing due to its excellent friction strength, as a binder for fabrics, sandpapers & non woven fab-rics, and paper industry. Kumho also of-fers a hot polymerized range of SB Latex which is used as a binder to strengthen the adhesion between fabric and rubber. These grades have excellent adhesion character-istics, heat resistance, and stability, which make them suitable for tyre chord dipping. SB Latex when used in cement mortar appli-cations helps improve water repellency and impact strength.

NB Latex is designed for nitrile gloves by coagulant dipping processes. Kumho’s NB Latex gives high tensile strength, high tear strength & good modulus properties, and is excellent for strong, thin and soft gloves.

Rishiroop is now also offering specialty grades of Ethylene Propylene Diene Rub-bers (EPDM) from Kumho Polychem, Ko-rea. Kumho Polychem, after their recently completed plant expansion and scheduled expansions in the next year, aims to be the largest producer of EPDM in Asia and the largest single site producer of EPDM in the world. EPDM has excellent weather ability & chemical resistance and allows for high filler loadings into its compounds. Key applications for EPDM are weather strips, tyre tubes, hoses, belts, electrical wires, etc.
