In case that happened, the lingam would remain fixed on that spot forever. The gods, who were unhappy at the prospect of the divine lingam being established in the enemy kingdom, which would render them powerless against their adversary, worked a trick on X. He mistakenly handed over the lingam to a brahmin, who grounded it at Y. X did his best to uproot it but beyond breaking the tip he was unsuccessful.

• X is a young 21-year-old onion farmer in a tiny village called Talegaon Rohi.

• The village is in one of the most drought-stricken areas of Maharashtra, the kind of place where farmer suicides are as routine as 45 degrees Celsius temperatures and accepted with the same weary resignation.

Indian Wildlife

• X camels from Gujarat got national recognition from scientists and experts when two breeders of Kachchh were felicitated by LIFE Network and National Biodiversity Authority.

• A booklet on the X camel was also released on the occasion. The duo got the Breed Saviour Award for breed conservation.

• The two breeders, Adam Abdreman Jat from Abdasa and Amand Varindh Jat from Bhachau in Kutch, received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a certificate from BK Joshi, director of National Bureau of Animal Genetic Research (NBAGR), Karnal.
