Weekly Plan and Standards:  Math: 5.NBT.B.6 Find whole-number quotients of whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. 5.0A.A.1 Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols. 5.0A.A.2 Write simple expressions that record calculations with numbers, and interpret numerical expressions without evaluating them. 

This week we will:  ● Use a simpler problem to solve problems. ● Introduced to numerical expressions. ● Write numerical expressions.

Reading:  RL5.2 Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas. 

This week we will:  ● Identify how the main character responds to challenges by tracking their thoughts 

words and actions.  ● Determine the theme by asking: What lessons did the main character learn? And 

what message did the reader learn?  ● Summarize the text by using somebody wanted but so.  ● Write a summary statement by combining the somebody wanted but so in a 

meaningful way.

Writing: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.  

This week we will: ● Working on our rough drafts for our fanfiction topics  

 Tips: Use the anchor chart below to help mould students writing pieces. 

   

Social Studies -Explain the elements of culture (language, norms,values, beliefs, etc.).major world religion. (5-1,5-3,5-6 and 5-7) 

This week we will wrap up our 4 week cycle by consolidating: ● Cultural aspects. ● Primary and Secondary sources. 

Tips: Please make use of class notes on the above mentioned topics to help consolidate concepts taught.

Science  ● Develop a model to describe that matter is made of particles too small to be seen. ● Measure and graph quantities to provide evidence that regardless of the type of change that 

occurs when heating, cooling, or mixing substances, the total weight of matter is conserved. ● Make observations and measurements to identify materials based on their properties. ● Conduct an investigation to determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in 

new substances. (5-2,5-4,5-5 and 5-8) 

This week we will conduct experiments in the following topics:  ● Observe Matter ● Model Matter ● Properties of matter
