I want to have the privilege of saying Happy Birthday To a wonderful friend who means so much to me. I am talking about a young lady who would Walk through the woods three times a week for my son. She would bring a half gallon of milk fresh from the cow, just as soon as milking was done. There never was a charge for the milk. Sadie did this from the goodness of her heart. Kenny was always thrilled to see her come in sight. Sometimes she would stay for an hour or more. Sadie had moved to our county about seven years before. When I was a teenager I would visit her a lot. We walked to her house, about a mile through the woods. At times she would play guitar for us. Berniece, Janette, my sister Freida and myself. Sometimes Ruth Abney and Mary Jane We would sit on her porch and she would sing for us, Through sunshine, snow or rain; we did this time and time again. Now, Sadie, this is all a thing of the past. You and I are growing old. I cannot walk to your house and I don’t need milk. But I love you as much as before.
