these may catch fire. Never try to extin-guish a fire with water! in this event dis-connect the device and cover the flameswith a lid, a plate or a blanket.

Do not store any object on thecooking areas of the stovetop. Preventa possible fire hazard.

Do not place metal objects, such asknives, forks, spoons or lids on the surfa-ce of the hob, as they may get very hot.

The induction generator complieswith all current European standards.Nonetheless, we recommend that peo-ple with heart devices, with such asartificial pacemakers, consult with theirdoctor or, if in doubt, refrain from usingthe induction zones.

It is advisable not to use theinduction hob during the pyrolitic clea-ning function in the case of the pyroliticovens, due to the high temperature rea-ched by this appliance.

When finished, turn off the coo-king zone by using the touch controls.Otherwise an undesired operationcould occur if a pan is accidentally pla-ced on the cooking zone during thenext three minutes. Avoid possibleaccidents!

The size of the base of the cook-ware to be used should be largeenough to completely cover the coo-king zone drawn on the glass. Depen-ding on the type of cookware (materialand size), the induction zones maywork with smaller cookware.

Please remember that in order towork, the induction elements need tobe used with cookware that has a ferro-magnetic base (material attracted by a

magnet).

Always use cookware with a flat, smooth base on the induction ele-ments. Using cookware with a defor-med, concave or curved base can leadto overheating that can damage theglass or the cookware.

Please take into account that thecookware that you use can greatlyaffect the how well the induction ele-ment works. You may find cookware onthe market that, although marked asbeing suitable for induction hobs, doesnot work very well or is not easilyrecognised by the induction elementdue to the little amount or poor qualityof the ferromagnetic material that thecookware has in its base.

INSTALLATION AND SETUP SHOULDBE CARRIED OUT BY AN AUTHORISEDTECHNICIAN ACCORDING TOCURRENT INSTALLATION STANDARDS.

Positioning the hobs

To install these models, an opening withthe dimensions shown in figure 1 shouldbe cut into the unit's worktop.

The system for fixing the hob is intendedfor use with kitchen units with a thicknessof 20, 30 and 40 mm.

The minimum distance between the surfa-ce of the hob and the lower part of the kit-chen unit or the hood located above thehob should be 650 mm. If the hood's insta-llation instructions recommend that thegap is greater than this, you should followthis advice.

The unit where the hob and oven will belocated should be suitably fixed.

INSTALLATION WITH A CUTLERYDRAWER OR LOW CUPBOARD

If you wish to install a silverware drawerunder the countertop, you should install acover or spacer, located at least 60 mmfrom the back of the countertop, to avoidblocking the countertop fans with objectsplaced in the drawer. In this way, potentialrisks can be avoided due to inflammableobjects that may be stored in the drawer.

INSTALLATION WITH A THERMOVENTI-LATED OVEN UNDER THE HOB

The oven should be installed according tothe corresponding manual.

If the countertop is installed with an ovenunderneath, it is recommended that thesame be a BEKO brand thermo-ventilated

oven, to ensure good operation of thecountertop.

A space should be left in front of the furni-ture for evacuation of hot air. The openingshould be at least 5 mm high. Its lengthshould be the width of the furniture.

An opening of 20 mm should be made inthe back part of the furniture to allow inta-ke of cold air (see figure 1).

When hobs are handled beforebeing installed, care should be taken incase there is any protruding part orsharp edge which could cause injury.

When installing units or applian-ces above the hob, the hob should beprotected by a board so that the glasscannot be damaged by accidentalblows or heavy weight.

The glues used in manufacturingthe kitchen unit and on the decorativelaminates and on the laminates that arepart of the worktop surface should bemade to tolerate temperatures of up to100ºC.

BEKO does not assume any res-ponsibility for any malfunction ordamage caused by faulty installation.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE GUA-RANTEE DOES NOT COVER THEGLASS IF IT SUFFERS A VIOLENTBLOW OR IF IT IS USED IMPROPERLY.

Fixing the hob

When the gap has been properly sized, the gasket should be put on the lower sideof the glass. Silicone should not beapplied between the glass and the unitworktop because if it becomes neces-sary to remove the hob from its posi-

tion, the glass could break when tryingto detach it.

To attach the cooking countertop to the fur-niture, a set of clamps are supplied thatshould be fastened in the existing holes inthe lower part of the framework. There aretwo possible ways to position the clips, ascan be seen in figure 2.

Depending on the thickness of the worktop,it is possible to use the self-tapping screwsthat are provided as a fastening accessoryby putting them into the clip's round hole. This hole will be threaded as the screw isinserted into it. This should be done beforefixing the clip to the worktop.

Connecting the electricity

The electric connection is made using anomnipolar switch or plug, where accessi-ble, that is suitable for the intensity to betolerated and that has a minimum gap of 3mm between its contacts. This will ensuredisconnection in case of emergency orwhen cleaning the hob.

The connection should include correct ear-thing, in compliance with current norms. If the flexible supply cable fitted to theappliance ever needs to be changed, itshould be replaced by BEKO's official tech-

TURNING THE APPLIANCE ON

The first time the cooktop is plugged in (orafter a power outage), the Block functionwill appear as activated (pilot light 10 on).In this case, you must deactivate the blockfunction in order to turn the cooktop on. Todo this, push sensor (6) until pilot (10)turns off.

1 Touch sensor (1) for at least onesecond.

Touch Control is now activated and a 0appears in all power indicators (3). If acooking zone is hot, the correspondingindicator will show an H and a 0 alternati-vely.

Once the Control is on, you must activatea plate within 10 seconds, otherwise theTouch Control will automatically turn off.

While the touch control is activated, it canbe disconnected at any moment by tou-ching the general on/off sensor (1)even if it has been blocked (see section"Blocking cooktop sensors"). Sensor(1) always has priority in disconnecting thetouch control.

ACTIVATING PLATES

Once the Touch Control is activated withsensor (1), any plate can be turned onby following these steps:

1 Select the plate by using the correspon-ding sensor (3). In other words, presswith your finger the NUMBER INDICA-TOR. If the glass is hot, the said indica-tor will go from showing an H to showinglevel 0. The decimal point to the bottomright of the number lights up, indicatingthat the plate has been selected.

2 Use the cursor slider (2) to choose acooking level between 0 and 9.

As long as the plate is selected, in otherwords, with the decimal point lit up, itspower level can be modified.

TURNING A PLATE OFF

A plate can be turned off by decreasing itscooking level to 0. In order to do this, theplate must have been previously selected(decimal point lit up).

Once a plate has been turned off, an H willappear on the corresponding power indi-

cator if the glass surface of the cookingarea reaches an elevated temperature.Burn risk exists. When the temperaturedecreases, the indicator turns off (if thecooktop is disconnected), or it will show a0 if it is still on.

TURNING ALL PLATES OFF

All plates can be simultaneously discon-nected by using the general on/off sensor

(1). All plate indicators will turn off.

Pan detector

Induction cooking zones have a built-inpan detector. This way, the plate will stopworking if there is no pan present or if thepan is not suitable.

The power indicator will show a symbol todesignate "there is no pan" if, while thezone is on, no pan is detected or the panis not suitable.

If a pan is taken off the zone while it is run-ning, the plate will automatically stopsupplying energy and it will show thesymbol for "there is no pan". When a panis once again placed on the cooking zone, energy supply will resume at the samepower level previously selected.

The time for pan detection is 3 minutes. Ifa pan is not placed within this time period,or the pan is unsuitable, the cooking zoneshuts off. The power indicator will go fromshowing the symbol "there is no pan" toshowing 0.

When finished, turn off the coo-king zone by using the touch controls.Otherwise an undesired operationcould occur if a pan is accidentally pla-ced on the cooking zone during thenext three minutes. Avoid possibleaccidents!

Blocking cooktop sensors

BLOCK FUNCTION

With the Block Function, you can block theother sensors, except for the on/off sensor

(1), in order to avoid undesired opera-tions. This function is useful as a childpro-of safety.

To activate this function, touch sensor(6) for at least one second. Once you havedone so, the pilot (10) turns on indicatingthat the control panel is blocked. To deac-tivate the function, simply touch sensor(6) again.

If the on/off sensor (1) is used to turnoff the appliance while the block function isactivated, it won't be possible to turn thecooktop on again until it unblocks.

Stop Function

This function puts the cooking process onpause. The timer will also be paused if it isactivated.

Activating the Stop function

Touch the Stop sensor (7) for onesecond. The pilot (11) lights up and thepower indicators will show the symbolto indicate cooking has been paused.

Deactivating the Stop function

Touch Stop sensor (7) again. The pilot(11) turns off and cooking resumes underthe same power and timer settings thatwere established before the pause.

Heat Sustainment Function

This function makes it possible to keepwarm food that is in the pan placed on the

cooking area.

This function is independently available foreach one of the plates.

To activate it, select the plate. The decimalpoint will light up. Then push sensor(13). The symbol "A" will appear in theindicator and the corresponding pilot (8)will turn on.

To disconnect this function, all you have todo is modify the power of the plate ordirectly turn it off.

Power Function

This function supplies "extra" power to theplate, above the nominal value. Saidpower depends on the size of the plate,(see values specified with * in the presen-tation section), with the possibility of rea-ching the maximum value permitted by thegenerator.

1 Select the desired plate with the corres-ponding sensor (3). The decimal pointwill light up.

2 On the cursor Slider, push directly onposition (5). The power level indica-tor will show the symbol P, and the platewill start to supply extra power.

The Power function has a maximum dura-tion as specified in table 1. After this time, the power level will automatically adjust to9.

Boil Control Function

This innovative function is of an enormoushelp if you want to cook pasta, rice, eggs,or boil any kind of food. This functionallows you to perform this cooking method"almost" automatically.

This function is available only in the plateswhere this symbol appears

Pot requirements

For properly using boil control, the potmust have the following characteristics:

- Bottom size as close as possible to thediameter of the plate.

- NO COVER.- Filled more than halfway of its capacity

with room temperature water (neveruse lukewarm or hot water).

Not fulfilling these requirements will resultin inadequate control of boiling.

WARNING: do not use this func-tion for cooking methods other thanboiling water. Never use oil. It can over-heat and create flames.

Activating the function:

Select the proper plate. The decimal pointlights up.

Push sensor (12). An A will appear onthe plate indicator and the pilot (9) will turnon. In the timer for this plate, a movingsegment will appear which indicates thatthe system has started to monitor cooking.

When the system detects that it is about toboil, an initial beep will go off. Take thistime to prepare the food you want to boil orcook.

After 30 seconds, a second beep will gooff. If you haven't done it already, now istime to put the food into the pot.

After the second beep, the system will acti-vate the timer as a chronometer so thatyou can control how long the food hasbeen boiling.

A few seconds after the chronometer isactivated, a third beep will go off indicatingthat, from this moment on, the system willreduce the energy supplied in order tomaintain a gentle and steady boil. Thechronometer will remain active until coo-king has finished.

If desired, the chronometer can be deacti-vated and you can set a time for the count-down to occur and the plate to automati-cally turn off (see section Timer Function).

Deactivating the function

You can cancel the function at any time bysimply turning off the plate or modifyingthe power level.

Safety shut off

MAXIMUM TIME RUNNING

If one or more plates have been acciden-tally left on, they will automatically shut offafter a certain amount of time which startsto count from the moment the last actionwas taken on the plate. (See table 1).

When the "safety shut off" has occurred, the power indicator of the correspondingplate will show an H if there exists a burnrisk. Otherwise, a 0 will be shown.

COVERED SENSORS SAFETY

The touch control is equipped with a func-tion to detect when an object (pan, cloth orcertain liquids) covers the panel sensorsfor more than 10 seconds.

This, therefore, prevents the object frombeing able to activate or deactivate a platewithout you realising it.

When the touch control detects that anobject is covering the sensors, it starts tobeep until the object covering the controlpanel is removed. If the touch control wason, it automatically shuts off for safety rea-sons.

If after a few minutes the object coveringthe sensors has still not been removed, the beeping will cease.

Keep in mind that this safetyfunction turns on even when the touchcontrol is off!

Take precaution and do not placeobjects on the touch control!

Timer function (countdown clock)

This function facilitates cooking given thatyou don't have to be present: You can seta timer for a plate, and it will turn off oncethe desired time is up.

For these models, you can simultaneouslyprogram each plate for durations rangingfrom 1 to 90 minutes.

Setting a timer on a plate

To set a timer on a plate, you should takethe following steps.

1 Select the desired plate by directly tou-ching its corresponding indicator (3) andchoose a power level with the cursor sli-der (2).

2 The two digits of the timer for the plateselected will turn on, showing "- - ". Youcan set the amount of time desired withsensors (14) and (15).

3 After a few seconds, the countdownbegins. When there is less than oneminute left, the clock will begin to countdown in seconds.

Once the countdown has finished, thetimed plate will turn off and a series ofbeeps will be heard. They can be stoppedby touching either of the sensors (14)or (15) associated with theclock.

Disconnecting the clock

If you wish to stop the clock before the pro-grammed time is up, this can be done atany time by simply adjusting its value to '--'.

1 Select the plate you wish to stop thetimer on by directly touching its corres-ponding indicator (3).

2 Adjust the value of the clock to "--" byusing the "less" sensor (14). This canalso be done more quickly by pushingthe "less" and "more" sensors (14)and (15) at the same time.

Total Zone Function

By using this function it is possible toachieve that two plates, as shown in thescreen, function at the same time, both forselecting a power level as well as for acti-vating the timer function.

To activate this function you should pressthe sensor or (17). Upon doing so,the decimal points (16) of the plates lightup and both turn to power level 5.

The timer (4) of the lower plate will turn off,and from then on it will be the upper onethat indicates the values of the clock forboth.

To deactivate this function you shouldpress the sensor again or (17).

Overheating safety

Induction zones are protected against theelectrical system overheating, which coulddamage it.

The internal fan automatically turns on andoff depending on the temperature of theelectronic system. Therefore, when the fanis on and you turn the cooktop off, the fanwill continue to run for a few minutes inorder to cool the electronics.

Power surges in the network

The touch control can bear cer-tain variations in voltage supply admis-sible by electric distribution networks.Abnormally high power surges cancause the control system to breakdown (just like with any other electricdevice).

Suggestions and recommendations

To get the best use out of your hob, youshould follow the following suggestionsand recommendations:

* Utilize receptacles with completely flatbottoms, given that the larger the con-tact surface is between the glass andthe receptacle, so much the better willthe plate performance be. In order toprevent denting the bases of the cook-ware, recommend using cookware withthick bases. Figure 5 shows how cook-ware that is dented or concave has asmaller contact surface.

* Make sure that cookware is well-centredon the drawings that indicate the heatingzone.

* Dry the bases of cookware before pla-cing them on the hob.

* Do not leave any plastic object or utensilor any aluminium foil lying on the vitro-ceramic hob.

* Do not drag over the glass cookware withcorners or edges that could damage theglass.

* The glass will withstand bangs from largecookware that does not have sharpedges. Please be careful with impactsfrom small, sharp utensils.

* Please be careful not to let sugar or pro-ducts containing sugar fall on the glass, since they may react with the glasswhen the glass is hot and damage thesurface.

If you cannot turn off the heatingelement due to an overflow of creams, soups or similar foods, use a wet rag toremove the food from the touch controlpanel and keep the rag on the on/offsensor button so that the touch controlpanel turns off.

Cleaning and care

To maintain the vitroceramic hob in goodcondition, it should be cleaned with suitableproducts and instruments. The vitroceramichob should be cleaned each time it is used, when it is either lukewarm or cool. Thismakes cleaning easier and prevents dirt fromaccumulating through repeated use.

Never use aggressive cleaning products orproducts that can scratch the surfaces (thetable below shows various common pro-ducts that may be used). The hob shouldalso not be cleaned using steam-basedappliances.

CLEANING AND CARING FOR THEGLASS

Light soiling

Light, non-sticky, soiling can be cleaned witha damp cloth and a mild detergent or warm, soapy water.

Heavy soiling

Serious spots and grease should be clea-ned using a cleaning agent especiallymade for vitroceramic hobs following themanufacturer's instructions.

Sticky stains that have been burned in canbe removed by using a scraper with arazor blade.

Rainbow colouring: caused by cookwarethat has dry bits of grease on its base orwhen grease gets between the glass andthe cookware while cooking. It can beremoved from the surface of the glassusing a nickel scouring pad with water orwith a special vitroceramic cleaner.

Plastic objects, sugar or food with a highsugar content that are melted onto the hobshould be removed immediately while hotby using a scraper.

When the colour of the glass changes

This does not affect the effectiveness orstability of the hob and is generally causedby inadequate cleaning or by poor-qualitycookware.

Metallic sheens are caused by metal cook-ware sliding over the glass. They can beremoved by thorough cleaning with a spe-cial, vitroceramic cleaning agent, althoughit may be that the cleaning needs to berepeated more than once.

Worn trim is the result of using abrasivecleaning products or cookware with une-ven bases which wear down the seri-graphy.

Attention:

Take great care when using theglass scraper. The blade can causeinjury!

If the scraper is used inappropria-tely, the blade can break and a fragmentcan become incrusted between thelateral trim and the glass. If this hap-

pens, do not try and remove the frag-ments with your hands; carefully usetweezers or a knife with a sharp tip (Seefig. 6).

Only use the blade on the vitroce-ramic surface. Make sure that the bodyof the scraper does not come into con-tact with the glass, since this couldscratch the vitroceramic glass.

Only use blades that are in perfectconditions. Replace the blade immedia-tely when it shows any signs of wear.

After using the scraper, pull in andprotect the blade. (See fig. 7)

Cookware may become stuck tothe glass if something has melted bet-ween the base of the cookware and theglass. Do not attempt to unstick thecookware when it is cold - you couldbreak the glass ceramic.

Do not stand or lean on the glass. It could break and cause injury. Do notkeep any objects on the glass.

If something doesn't work

Before calling the Technical Service, please check the following possible causesand solutions:

Problem Possible cause Solution

The cookware is inadequate(it doesn't have a ferromagne-

tic base or it is too small).

Make sure that the base ofthe cookware is attracted bya magnet or use larger cook-

ware.

The induction zones don't get hot

Cookware is not thick enoughor it is not one piece. Thebuzzing is caused by thetransmission of energy

directly to the base of thecookware.

This buzzing is not a defect. However, if you want to pre-

vent it, slightly reduce thechosen power level or use

cookware with a thicker baseand/or that is one piece.

There is a buzzing sound at the beginning of cooking in the induction zones

The lock is activated. Deactivate the lock.

The touch control panel doesn't go on or, if it's on, it doesn't respond

The sound of a fan can be heard when cooking and the sound continuesafter the cooker has been turned off.

The induction zones have afan that cools the electronic

system.

The fan only works when thetemperature of the electronicsystem is high; when the tem-perature decreases, the fanturns off automatically regar-dless of whether or not the

cooker is activated.

When frying or cooking stew, it seems as though the energy of theinduction zones decreases ("the induction element heats less")

If the temperature of the glassor of the electronic system

becomes too high while coo-king, an auto-protection

system will begin workingwhich regulates the power ofthe heating elements so that

the temperature does not con-tinue increasing.

Excess temperature problemsduring cooking only occur inextreme situations (an exten-ded period of time cooking atmaximum power) or when ins-

tallation is inadequate.Verify that installation has

been done in accordance withthe indications in the instruc-

tions manual.

The glass is too hot. Remove the cookware andlet the glass cool down.

A heating element goes off and the message C appears

There is a container, clothor liquid covering the Touch

Control.

Remove any object thatmight be covering the

Touch Control.

The hotplate had not beenset correctly.

Make sure that the timewas set following the ins-

tructions manual.

The hob (or any of the hotplates) powers off during cooking

A timed hotplate failed to power off at the end of the set time

There is a cloth, containeror liquid on the Touch Con-

trol.

Remove any object coveringthe Touch Control and/or

clean any liquid that mighthave been spilt on it.

The hob suddenly starts to bleep

The timer was activatedand the preset time has

finished.

Touch the clock sensor todeactivate the bleep.

One or several of the hot-plates has overheated.

Allow the overheated hot-plates to cool down for afew minutes before powe-

ring them up again.

Fault Possible cause Possible solution

When cooking at a level below 9, there are fluctuations in the power

The induction generator ofthe cooker turns on and offalternately in order to keepthe chosen cooking level.

This is not a defect.
