Mission Statement

The Catholic Community of St. Timothy serves the areas of Norwood, Walpole, Westwood, and all who come to our door. The serenity of our waterfront church property is a natural re-minder of all the gifts that God has given us.

It is our vision, as a Eucharistic people, to come to know and love Christ, to proclaim his teachings through word and deed, to worship together and to minister to one another. We strive to form a supportive and generous faith-filled community. We seek to bear witness to Christ's presence and compassion to all by our service to our sisters and brothers.

Jesus himself, gives the mission to us. “Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Fa-ther, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20)

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Breaking Open the Word Suggested text for faith sharing: Today’s Gospel

Question for Children: Who needs Jesus’ love this week? How can you show them his love?

Question for Adults: How is love of others connected to love for God?

May 6 ~ Sixth Sunday of Easter Today’s Scriptures give us a message that is loud and clear: “Let us love one another. . .” and “This is my commandment, love one another.” The love that we share is not our own, but rather it is the love God has for us. Love is a powerful means of evangelization. The love of a faithful disciple draws people to Jesus Christ. So, let’s take the scripture to heart this week and extend the love of God to others.

A Message from our Pastor

Training for Bakers of Eucharistic Bread

One of the unique attributes of St. Timothy’s is that at our 9:30am and 11am Masses each Sunday, we use home-baked bread for our Eucharist. This is a very special ministry at St. Timothy’s, one which enhances our worship in a very special way. We have a team of dedicated parishioners who rotate the responsibility of reverently baking the bread each week. If you love baking and would like to contribute to our weekly worship by baking the bread we use at Mass, we invite you to a training session on Wednesday, May 16 from 7pm-8pm in the Church Hall. At the meeting we will teach you exactly how to bake the bread, what ingredients to use, and how to offer this task to God as an offering of time and talent. If you can attend the training, please call the office to RSVP by Tuesday, May 15. Also, if you are interested but cannot attend this training, or if you have any questions, please contact Janet or Colleen in the main office at 781-769-2522.

This is a weekend of joyful celebration for our parish communi-ty as 101 girls and boys receive their First Communion during four Masses over the two days. What a blessing for the parish family as these young people enter more closely into relation-ship with the Lord. It is a graced moment for them and their families who have nurtured them in their faith.

We are also grateful to those who have been part of their faith journey: For their parents and grandparents who choose to share faith with their children; for Mrs. Mary Ganley, our Faith For-mation Coordinator; for all of the Catechists who have walked with these children in their classes over the last two years; and for all the staff and volunteers who help to make the program possible throughout the school year, to all of you we offer our thanks and appreciation.

We are also very grateful to the wider parish community for your generosity that makes our Faith Formation Program possi-ble. Without your faithful financial support, it would not be possible to operate our program. As a parish, we place great importance on Faith Formation at all phases of life, but espe-cially for the youth of the community. As a community, we show our support for the program with our time, talent and fi-nancial contributions that make it all possible.

May all of us experience in some way the blessings and grace of this wonderful celebration and gift of God’s presence and love for us.

****SAFETY is in OUR HANDS!**** Each month we feature information to help build our awareness of safety-related issues and our ability to be strong advocates. Eve-ry member of our community can contribute to creating a warm, welcoming, safe environment for our students and those at risk. Parents, guardians, and adults who care for children face constant challenges when trying to help keep children safer in today’s fast-paced world. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) offers easy-to-use safety resources to help address these challenges. NCMEC’s Web site offers a range of practical information for parents and guardians that will help keep children safe from harm. The site also features an interactive quiz on child safety designed for both adults and children. To take the quiz, visit the NCMEC Web site and click on “Child Safety”: www.missingkids.com. We celebrate our students’ light and faith and ask you to keep them in your prayers, especially those preparing for First Eucharist and Confirmation.

Good and gracious God, we ask your blessing on our First Eucharist and Confirmation students. May your Holy Spirit support and guide them throughout their final preparation to receive God's generous love and grace. Help them to open themselves to discipleship, following in Jesus' footsteps as people who love and include everyone. Grant them an untroubled heart and a joyful spirit. May they feel supported by the prayers and love of St. Timothy's Parish family. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen

Congratulations to our Second graders who celebrate their First Holy Communion this weekend! God Bless you!!
