Report on experience sharing by Mrs. Roopali Agashe Case Study of Kotak Mahindra mutual fund Name of the Guest:Mrs. Roopali Agashe madam Designation: Assistant Vice President Name of the company:Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund. Topic:Experience sharing cases of Kotak Mahindra mutual fund Date:27th Jan 2014 Time: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
SKN SINHGAD SCHOOL OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT had organized an Experience sharing
session on 27th Jan 2014.
Guest arrived at 10.45 am and welcomed by Dr. Rajashree Shinde madam and Prof. Ashok
Gandhe sir.
Guest Mrs. Roopali Agashe was feliciated by Dr. Rajashree Shinde madam with floral bouquet.
The lecture was attended by staff and about 100 students.
Speaker has opened his discussion by asking a question to the studends that 'what you guys
know about mutual funds?'.
Then she explained that Mutual funds talks about collection of funds from small investors and
invest those funds in different areas such as equity, debt, gold and many more similar areas.
Camp and karvy are two major authorities who handles the mutual fund related things in the
market.
Mrs. Roopali madam shared 2 experiences, she faced in her work…..
One day a small investor of her company came to one of the branch office to ask about
the negative returns he was getting from one of the product of kotak. As all the
employees were busy in a gathering, which is held by kotak authorities after a certain
period of time for its employees. There was no one to attend him at that point of time
from employees. Just some higher authorities including Mrs. Roopali were present
there, but this is not their duty to talk every small investor coming to them. The guy was
behaving very rudely and aggressively because of 2 reasons….
First, he was getting negative returns Second, nobody was there to attain him
He was regularly shouting and asking for a meeting from top authorities.
Mrs. Roopali handled him, talk to the fund managers and other releted people, if they
can solve the quires of that person. All the person associated with the company were
making efforts to satisfy the quires of that person.
Few mints. Later Mrs. Roopali arranged a person who can answer his all the questions.
But he did not ask any question then, and left the place.
The reason behind this was his observation, that this is not their duty
but then so all the employees of the company, either superiors or fund managers
available at that period of time were ready to discuss his small problem. All this makes
him to trust on company.
Mrs. Roopali madam concluded by saying that, in a corporate world, it is all about the
customers and their satisfaction, as they are the kings of the market. So a corporate
person must have interpersonal skills, patients, coordination skills, innovative thinking
etc. in him to sustain in his job.
and the second one was:-
One day a big corporate transfered 100cr. rs to 5 banks in short term debt funds, where
companies generally park their funds. All the banks got money before 2 pm but KOTAK
got funds at 2.03 pm. According to the guidelines provided by SEBI, it is a must to
transfer funds before 2pm otherwise it is not counted in that day and investors doesn't
get interest for the same day.
In this case with Kotak, money received a bit late in their account and the investor will
not be getting interest for that day which was around 2.5 lacs. The investor was very
engry and was saying that its not his fault its kotak's fault. As he was a big investor
attending him positively was very important. In that situation Mrs. Roopali madam
talked to the city bank office for inquiry about the matter as city bank tranfers funds to
all the banks after certain processes they have. She found out that there was a deley by
the investor only so she talked to the corporate very politely that its not their fault and
they will take care of it from next time. From that day only Mrs. Roopali mam kept on
calling to the city bank once before 1 pm that the funds get transfered at right time.So
through this patient handling they prevent themselves from lossing one big and
important customer.
Madam concluded by saying that if a person wants to work and sustain in a corporate
world he must possess some qualities such as :-
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
PATIENTS
INNOVATIVE SKILLS
COOL AND CLAM BEHAVIOUR
INTELLIGENCE and so on.
