Harmony Healing, LLC Presents: Gut
Health
Did you know your body contains more non-human cells thanhuman cells? That’s right, your body is covered (inside and out) withabout 30 to 50 TRILLION bacteria cells. Each type of bacteria hasa unique ‘fingerprint’ or job to do. Most of them are beneficial, andeven necessary for our survival.
Our gut biome, or the micro environment of bacteria in our gut, begins to lay the foundation during the birthing process. When weare in the womb (a sterile environment), there is no need for our tinybodies to fight off disease. The birthing process is an amazingcreation, whereby the path of exit through the vaginal canal actuallyprovides the first building blocks of gut biome. It is here where weare first introduced to friendly bacteria. This begins what should be amutually beneficial relationship between us and ‘them’.
Now, we need to remember that not ALL bacteria is good, andthere is a delicate balance. When our gut biome is thrown off, allowing one bacteria to run rampant, we can experience a varietyof symptoms including:
Isn’t that INSANE? Just one small part of our body, whichtechnically isn’t even ‘US’ can cause so many issues? When ourimmune system is down, we are not as able to fight off invaders, and get sicker even faster. What are some things that can adverselyaffect our gut biomes?
· Stress· Food allergies/sensitivities· Use of antibiotics· Eating ‘fake’ foods & sugars· Caffeine· Use of steroids· Smoking, drug usage
· Vaccines· Exposure to toxins, such as heavy metals· Exposure to environmental molds· Being born by Caesarian section· Not being breast-fed as a baby
Knowing all this, how do we combat this, or re-build the gut biome? We need to replenish the GOOD bacteria. We can do this by usinga quality LIVE probiotic. Bone broth is a great tool to repair the tightjunction function of leaky gut, and allow the gut biome to repair itself.Fermented foods (sauerkraut, pickles, etc.), yogurt and Kombuchaare great dietary resources. Detoxing the body of heavy metals, toxinsand molds. Parasite cleanses. Clean eating. Sugar reduction. Applecider vinegar. Exercise and meditation.
Being conscious of our word choices and our thoughts is animportant tool in overall health, and beneficial for gut health.
Cellular detoxes via herbs, oils or homeopathics can also help thegut release what no longer needs to be there. Cleaning out thedigestive tract via fasts or herbal remedies is wonderful. Mostimportantly, BE KIND TO YOURSELF AND YOUR JOURNEY!

Jeanne Regentin has been a Comerica
Bank employee for 24 years. She started
with Comerica in October of 1995, as a
bank teller, and has worked her way up to
managing her own banking center right here
in Waterford. Jeanne is grateful to Comerica Bank for providing
a tuition reimbursement program that allowed her to get a
Bachelors Degree in Business Management in 2005. Jeanne
has held many positions at Comerica throughout the years,
but she really enjoys her current sales leadership role. As
Assistant Vice President at the Comerica Bank Waterford
office, Jeanne leads her team to create financial solutions and
experiences that make customers keep coming back.
Comerica Bank has been providing service excellence to
Southeastern Michigan for 165 years. They have been serving
the Waterford area for at least 40 years. Comerica is a full service
financial institution that provides individuals and businesses with
a variety of options to make their banking easier.
Jeanne Regentin started her career in banking in the Waterford
area, and is pleased to be back in Waterford since 2014.
Jeanne lives with her husband, Jeremy, son Myles, and
daughter Lauren, in White Lake Township. The Regentin’s are
part of the local community and do most of their work and play
in the Waterford area. For that reason, Jeanne has given her
time to be an ambassador to the Waterford Chamber of
Commerce, to help promote new members and small
businesses in the area.

Waterford Youth Assistance President, Grant
Smith, Honored with Governor’s Service
Award – Mentor of the Year
Waterford Youth Assistance would like to
congratulate President Grant Smith for being
selected as the 2019 Governor’s Service
Award recipient for Mentor of the Year. In
2010, Grant began mentoring 11-year-old
mentee, Andrew, and his brother, Aaron,
through FOCUSS (Fostering Optimal
Collaboration to Uphold Student Success).
As a mentor, he supported and encouraged the boys to play
sports, attend career exploration programs and achieve
academically. He continued mentoring when FOCUSS merged
with Mentors Plus of Oakland County Youth Assistance in 2013.
Through mentoring children, Grant has helped provide life
changing experiences and has seen improved personal
development within his mentees. Being inspired by his
experiences with youth, Grant works to ensure other youth have
the same opportunities to be mentored. As President of Water-
ford Youth Assistance and a Mentors Plus Chairperson, he
networks with local organizations and recruits mentors to provide
resources for youth within the community. As a Mentors Plus
Advisory Committee member, he assists with interviewing
candidates to be matched with other youth who need positive
role models in their lives. He continuously strives to make positive
influences while keeping the best interest of youth in mind.
Grant’s compassion for mentoring one young man grew into
supporting a mentoring program and resulted in solidifying the
program’s viability to serve Waterford families. Congratulations
Grant Smith on receiving this distinguished award from Governor
Whitmer!
As a local office affiliate of Oakland County Youth
Assistance, Waterford Youth Assistance (WYA) has
been serving Waterford families since 1962. Our
purpose is to help strengthen and support youth and
families through citizen involvement in an effort to

provide a variety of community-based programs that are
developed and executed by volunteers who reside and work in
Waterford. To learn more about mentoring a child or other WYA

"Continuous learning is the minimum requirement forsuccess in any field."
- Brian Tracy
As we approach the 3rd quarter, it is a good time
to reflect on how we have done so far and how
we would like to finish the year. Which goals
have you accomplished? What goals are you still striving to
reach? Sometimes we are so focused on the day-to-day
operations that we don’t have the time to provide continuous
learning to ourselves and our employees.
A great upcoming event for you and your employees is the
Infused365 Business Conference. This local conference allows
you to take a step back and hear from locally and nationally
recognized speakers who will provide content rich information.
The conference is on October 25th from 7:30 a.m. - noon at
Oakland Schools in Waterford. Make sure to register early as this
event is one you don’t want to miss!
I am certain that you will leave the conference feeling energized,
refreshed and with several new takeaways. Have a great month!
