Cab

Get comfortable

Take a good look around. You’ll notice the 6D cab offers plenty of room to stretch, to breathe and to operate comfortably during long days in the field.

6D tractors have a new cab which has been designed ergonomically. All controls are located in a right-hand side console which allows the operator to have more efficient and comfortable movements.

We also moved the exhaust pipe out of the way so front visibility is virtually unlimited. The clear view to the drawbar makes connecting implements easier.

You might think this kind of comfort and convenience is only found with the biggest, most expensive tractors. Not at all. The 6D Series brings deluxe comfort at a price you’ll find surprising.

Additionally, an optional instructional seat is offered to train new operators in a more efficient manner.

1 Optional floor-mounted, two-function mechanical joystick gives you the precise control you need.

The entire design is clean and uncluttered – no levers to straddle or trip over. We moved the exhaust pipe for wide, open views. Your view to the drawbar is also unobstructed.

The controls are simple to use and conveniently within reach. The steering wheel not only tilts, but it also telescopes – this feature is standard on all 6D Series models.

PTO power for the tools you pullBale hay. Dig post holes. Cut brush down to size. Cultivate and plant. The 6D Series has the PTO power to efficiently handle all these demanding jobs and more. 6D tractors have a fully independent PTO, which now includes a one-button electrohydraulic engagement system. This push-pull button is located in the right-hand console and it allows the operator to easily engage or disengage the PTO rapidly and smoothly.

The PTO clutch has also changed from a dry clutch to a wet clutch. This will increase the durability and reduce the maintenance and adjustment time. All tractors are equipped with an easy-to-switch 540/1000 PTO shaft as standard equipment.

PTO systems

The PTO’s dual-speed system - 540/1000 RPM - lets you operate a variety of implements such as a post hole digger, a round baler, a square baler and just about any tool you need for years of reliable operation. Ground-engaged implements require dramatically more PTO power, and the 6D Series Tractors deliver with engines that lug down for less shifting and drivelines that deliver heavy torque.


For an extra measure of protection, we’ve designed both the PTO lever neutral safety start system and the seat-activated PTO warning. Tiltable PTO shield is also standard, allowing for improved shaft hookup and visibility.

Shift gears like never beforeThe 6D Series Tractors offer four transmission options to match customer applications and needs:

The base-equipped 12F/12R PowrReverser is an easy-to-use, durable transmission. The electrohydraulic reverser adds value for an operator who is constantly shifting from forward to reverse as it minimises the need for the operator to constantly depress the clutch pedal, especially in loader applications. The 24F/12R PowrReverser Plus transmission offers additional working speeds with the use of high/low buttons.

The 12F/4R SyncShuttle transmission with a wet clutch is an economical option. This transmission is ideal for field work and light loader applications, or wherever forward/reverse shifting is not a highly repeated operation. The 24F/8R SyncShuttle transmission includes the same characteristics of the 12F/4R but offers additional working speeds with the use of the high/low buttons.

You’ll get nine forward speeds and nine reverse speeds with our PowrReverser transmission. With a top speed of 31.6 km/h operators will be able to move fast from application to application, getting more done in less time.

Just hitch and goHeavy loads are no problem. The 6D Series Tractors feature a rugged Category II 3-point hitch with plenty of muscle to handle demanding jobs. Plus, there’s a vertical offset Category II drawbar to tackle the toughest drawbar loads.Whether you’re baling, cultivating, planting or using a box blade to grade your driveway, you want your implement connections to be hassle-free. That’s why we numbered and colour-coded the rear hydraulic remotes. You can make error-free connections quickly and easily.

A redesigned 3-point hitch system has also been implemented offering a two external-cylinder system with a capacity of 3,313 kg (7,304 lb.) at 610 mm (24 in.) behind balls. This 3-point hitch has been designed to handle high load requirements.

Hydraulic versatility

Pour on the powerThe hydraulics in the 6D Series Tractors deliver 46 percent more flow to the remotes than our previous tractor model. Just the kind of power you need for demanding loader, 3-point hitch and implement work.

The hydraulic system has also been improved with a hydraulic flow of up to 72.3 Lpm. This will allow the operators to perform a wide number of tasks in a faster manner. The hydraulic system is equipped with a triple-pump design, making loader, hitch, and implement work easier.

SCVs are colour-coded to make hookups easy and fast. The pressure (extend) port is on the left and the return (retract) port on the right. Valve number one is always the lowest or bottom valve.

With 72.3 Lpm flow rate and 19,500 kPa at 2,100 engine RPM, the 6D Series Tractors are perfect for loader work.

You can easily control the hydraulics from two Selective Control Valves (SCVs). Both are within easy reach on the right-hand side. You can set the controls in a detent “float” position to allow implements to follow the contours of the ground or a “regenerative” position for faster cycle times – just the thing for loader work. Also available: a deluxe hydraulic valve option with three SCVs to provide adjustable flow and adjustable detents.

MFWD or 2WD ... the choice is yoursYour freedom of choice continues to the very front axle you want in your 6D Series Tractor.Are you looking for efficient power delivery and traction? The Caster/Action mechanical front-wheel drive axle is the ideal fit, delivering extra muscle to convert more engine torque to drawbar pull power. By accommodating higher loads, it also gives your productivity a boost. There’s less wheel slippage too. With less tractor ballasting needed, there’s less soil compaction, greater fuel economy, and longer tyre life.

Or do you need more economical power delivery? Choose the adjustable two-wheel drive (2WD) front axle option available on the 6100D and 6115D. You can count on a stable, comfortable ride over uneven terrain, thanks to the 2WD’s 20-degree axle tyre oscillation.

Both front axles are designed to withstand the stresses that go with your working routine, day in and day out.

Routine maintenance

Service is a snapAt John Deere, we know the joys of farming and a country lifestyle. We know the challenges that go with it, too. That’s why we’ve made our tractors so reliable, durable, and easy to operate. Servicing is necessary, of course, but it shouldn’t be a worry. We’ve made it fast and easy, reducing time and input costs by increasing service intervals and giving you easy access from the ground. You’ll see a few examples to the left.

1. Changing the transmission/hydraulic oil is only once every 1,000 hours.

3. Cleaning out the radiator is a breeze – the tiltable A/C compressor gives you great access.

2. Checking the oil is easy – so easy, you don’t even have to tilt the hood.

4. Replacing the air filter doesn’t require tools. Just undo the Quik-Tatch™ fastener for fast, easy servicing. The Power Core air filter removes 93 percent of dust and dirt particles before they reach the filter.
