Staff• ECOS Institute Staff are carefully

interviewed, referenced andfingerprinted.

• Staff are certified in first aid and CPR.• They receive ongoing training and

evaluation.• They enjoy working with children.• The act as teachers, supervisors and

supporting adult for your child whileattending ECOS.

AccomodationsStudents stay in cabins with central heating, electricityand bathrooms with running water.They sleep on bunk beds and shower daily.Students clean their cabins daily.Boys and girls live in separate cabins.Instructors live in the cabins with the students.

Food• Meals are prepared on site by food

service professionals.• Meals meet USDA guidelines for the

National School Lunch and BreakfastProgram.

• Seconds are available for most items.• A salad bar and fresh fruit are available.• A vegetarian option is available upon

request.

• Students, teachers and staff enjoy theirmeals together.

• Table manners and polite conversationare emphasized.

• Most students who become homesick overcome it andhave a successful week.

• If your child becomes homesick, the staff will encouragehim/her to work through it.

• If he/she continues to have trouble adjusting, you will becontacted.

Health Care• A nurse is in charge of all health care related issues,

including administering medications, if needed.• Minor illnesses or injuries will be treated on site.• If your child has something more serious, such as a

fever, you will be contacted and may be asked to pickup your child.

Health Care (Cont.)• In case of a medical emergency, you will be contacted

and your child’s transport to a nearby medical facilitywill be arranged.

• Due to distance and possible severe weather, transportto a medical facility could take over an hour.

• If your child wets the bed, please note it on the StudentRegistration form (confidential) and send extrabedding. If this occurs, it is handled discreetly.

Prescription MedicationPrescription Medications•Must have written doctor’s orders and parent’s writtenrequest.•Must not be EXPIRED•Must be in original Rx container•Label must match written orders EXACTLY•Send only the amount needed + 3 doses in case ofemergency Over-the-Counter Medications on a Schedule•(Same rules as for Prescription Meds)

• Students love to receive mail!• Mail will be distributed daily at camp.

• Turn in cards or letters for your child to the school officethe week before camp.

• There will be a manila envelope for each day the students are atcamp (Mon,Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri).

• Write your child’s name & teacher’s name on the front of theenvelope. Put your letter in the appropriate manila envelope (in theschool office) to be given to your child.

• This will ensure that your child will receive mail and you can saveon stamps.

• A reminder notice will be posted on the Green Sheet.

~ $400 depending on the number ofstudents attending

•This includes science camp fees, transportation and staffstipends (Golden teachers attending).

•A payment plan is available for families who wish to breakup the cost over time.

The Memory Book is a special section of the yearbook dedicatedto 6th grade students.We need these items for ALL 6th graders:

•Baby photo•Kindergarten photo•Pictures of your child & friends through the years(class parties, field trips, school events, etc.)

•Student questionnaire (Favorite book, movie, teacher, etc.)•Family dedicationsReminders will be placed on the Green Sheet. Forms to becompleted will be posted on the website under Forms sectionMake sure your child is not left out!

Jog-a-thon will be our one and only fundraiser this year!We encourage all families to participate and donate asmuch as possible. A portion of your donation will help fund6th grade end-of-year activities.A voluntary donation of $20 per child will be collectedseparately for end-of-year activities. This donation willcover the following additional expenses- pizza party,softball game, pancake breakfast, CSUF party andPromotion Ceremony.

Help your 6th graders have a great end of the year & promotioncelebration. We need volunteers for:

• Memory Book Assistants – work with Memory BookCoordinator to collect photos and memories

• Pizza Party - picks up pizza, ice, and volunteers the day of theevent.

• Pancake Breakfast- volunteers the day of the event.• Bowling/Game Party –prep, transportation and volunteers for
