Production Process Evaluation

Research• The research helped with the layout of my magazine because I had to get already

existing ones that were about the same topics as mine. On these I did annotations to them to understand why certain things are put on a magazine this helped so I put similar touches on mine. The research PowerPoint also helped find out specifics about the audience for example:

This price I changed not so long after too the price of £4.25 which is still in the price range and is very reasonable.

Planning

This is the layout plan which is what I similarly base my final cover off of I took the layout just not the similar image styles and genre of game. I think this layout is great and could not be improved any more.

The style sheet is where I decided the colour scheme I was going with and the fonts I was going to choose for some of my text. However o did not choose any fonts of this page for my final product

The mind map is where I first decided on some of the information and details I wanted to include in the magazine and I took of the rest of the project from here. This was a great choice which I do not regret.

The mood board is where I got lots of images of already existing entertainment magazines and I based my ideas of off them.

Time Management• My time was managed very well. I created a rough timetable of what I was going to

do each day whilst making this magazine. I stuck to this timetable building each thing everyday and I finished all of my work on time. My work could have been improved with more time of coarse. If I had more time I would have done more work on productions by making my double page stand out more and maybe create a couple more pages.

Technical Qualities

There is not as many different colours on the existing magazine however it is a much brighter magazine but it is only too do with movies where as mine is movies and games which is why some of mine is dark but some is lighter.

The double articles have the same decent amount of images and text. However this entertainment magazine is only on movies specifically the hobbit.

Both magazines talk about what is included in the magazine. And they both clearly state what you are going to be getting about.

The article has more of a story mine has movie and games list, reviews and the newest console coming out.

Aesthetic QualitiesMy magazine is good looking. The whole visual layout plan is very good on both the front cover and double page, however I feel like there is something missing on the double page which makes it feel a little bit plain and not very interesting. The images are of good quality and good looking relating to the magazine genre. I like how my images have layers and go over and over one another. The edges of this had too be cut off otherwise the image would have looked terrible.

The text on the masthead is pixelated which graphically was a good choice because pixels relate to games in a huge way so you can almost straight away tell what it is about

I think that having these blue boxes which have the same colour and 1 movie and 1 games works really well and it separates these facts from the rest of the article.

The front cover is not all dark there are some other colours which contrast very well with the darker theme.

Audience Appeal

These images are of games and movies that are rated for teenagers at the age of 15 so they appeal to the specific age range audience.

There is a lot more content which is too do with males rather than females. The movies are and in general more male people play games consoles than female.

My magazine appeals to the middle class because it costs a reasonable price of £4.25.

Peer Feedback

Feedback 1

• What did you like about the product?– On the front cover all the images used were all

placed neatly and on the double page spread there is lots of information and images.

• What improvements could have been made to the product?– Could use brighter colours on the front cover to

make it more eye catching.

Page 11: 7. evaluation(3)

Feedback 2

• What did you like about the product?I like the wide range of imagery on the double page article. I also like how the magazine is about entertainment as a whole and not one specific part of the entertainment genre.

• What improvements could have been made to the product?I don’t like like the large blocks of colour on the front cover and I believe the fonts could have been improved.

Peer Feedback Summary

• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?– I agree with how the double article looks a bit plain

and doesn't’t really catch the eye• What do you disagree with from your peer

feedback?• The squares on the front need to be thier otherwise it

would be text on background which you wouldn't’t be able to read and if you changed the colour it would look out of place.

Peer Feedback SummaryWith my feedback I am going to improve a couple of things on the front cover and the double page. These will include making the page and text different colour and font so it does not look so plain anymore these will be some big improvements.
