Set on the banks of one of the most romantic lakes in the world and just north of

Milan, the Villa was built in 1568 as the summer residence of Cardinal Tolomeo

Gallio. The property comprises 25 acres of gardens, whose statues and land-

scape have been photographed for centuries. The favourite playground of an

Empress, an English queen and aristocrats, it was transformed into a luxury

hotel in 1873.

Continuously renovated and updated, without sacrificing any of its old-world

charm, it offers today 152 rooms, all-different in decor but linked by the superior

standards of hospitality that you expect from one of Europe’s truly legendary

resorts.

Set on the shores of Lake Como, the Hotel is located in one of the most important

crossroads between Italy and Northern Europe.

The design of the lower part of the villa’s gardens is from the Renaissance peri-

od. The two most outstanding landmarks are the 500 year old plane tree and the

16th century Mosaic with its Nympheum. Apart from the topiary hedges and the

bushes of bamboo, azaleas, camellias, oleanders, rhododendrons, hydrangeas,

there are roses and jasmine bushes. The trees range from chestnut, magnolia,

oleafragrans, wisteria, palm, cypress, pine, ilex, privet, mediar to many others.

AccomodationsThe Villa, which has become Grand Hotel in 1873, it’s a complex of two beautiful

palaces: The Cardinal building and Queen’s Pavilion. The 152 rooms, equipped

with every comfort, are all differently and elegantly furnished with antiques,

paintings and vintage prints, silks, brocades, velvets of rare preciousness and

luxurious marble bathrooms. Terraces, balconies and large windows take in the

magnificent views of Como Lake, which, along with Villa‘s park and gardens, is

the main protagonist of the beauty that surrounds guests.

Outdoor wedding ceremonies take place in the Gardens facing the

spectacular 16th Century Mosaic and Nympheum. The Mosaic is one

of the Garden’s most ancient features and a very fine example of Ro-

man Baroque, majestic backdrop for a memorable, luxurious wedding

ceremony.

Wedding receptions here instead, can take place in the elegant Col-

onne Hall or in the sumptuous Impero Hall. The Colonne Hall, ideal for

wedding parties up to 60 guests... is located in the Cardinal Building, at

the heart of the property. The Colonne Hall opens onto the lake front

terrace where the wedding guests enjoy the welcome cocktail and the

cutting of the cake with a firework display on the lake. The Colonne Hall

is a charming example of the true Italian style, with its marble floors,

crystal chandeliers and precious frescoes.

The Impero Hall, majestic and sumptuous, can accommodate up to 210

seated guests and is a perfect setting for extraordinary wedding recep-

tions and gala dinners. Situated in the Cardinal Building, the Impero Hall

fascinates for its unique elegance and glamorous, timeless atmosphere.
