T-Shirt Color Policy
Teams are required to wear color-coordinated shirts for their athletic contests
Scrimmage vests will be given out if two teams are wearing the same color
Roster Form Rosters will be accessed on IMleagues.com Captains can manager their rosters from their team site All participants must create an account on IMleagues Teammates can be added to the roster at game time Make sure all contact information is correct!
If we cannot contact a team representative you may miss important information and subject to forfeiture
Insurance
Students are required to have health insurance in order to participate in Intramurals
Proper Attire No jewelry of any kind!
This includes necklaces, earrings, watches, bracelets, rubber bands, nose rings, belly rings, etc.
Jewelry cannot be taped down
Only plastic spikes can be worn on the Lion’s Stadium turf No bare feet, flip flops, or open-toed shoes
Soft casts are permitted Knee braces are permitted with protective covering and
approved by the on-site Intramural Supervisor
Proper Attire No hats/caps (exception: wool hats for cold weather) Towels may not be attached to a player’s waist
Can place under ball at snap or take off field Playbooks are allowed provided they are pliable but must be
taken off the field or kept on the players body (waistband or wrist)
NO shorts/pants with pockets, belt loops, zippers, or exposed drawstrings will be allowed. Pockets cannot be taped or turned inside out!!
Captain’s Responsibilities Inform team of intramural rules

Team schedules, standings, rules, rankings, updates, photos, announcements will be available on website
Team captains will be emailed or called for special circumstances (cancellations, forfeits, etc.)
Will be posted online first, so check before calling WEATHER CANCELLATIONS CAPTAINS WILL BE NOTIFIED
Leagues Men’s A (Competitive) Men’s B (Recreational) Women’s Co-Recreational (Co-ed)
Participants can only play on one (1) like gender-team and a Co-Rec team Ex. Male can only play on a Men’s A team and a Co-Rec team, not on
both a Men’s A and Men’s B teams
Flag Football Season Season will start Monday, September 24th
Games will be played Monday through Thursday, 6-10pm All games played at Lion’s Stadium Teams may play 1-2 games per week Captains will be notified and emailed when schedule is
available Please arrive 15-20 minutes early to sign in for your game When warming up, please do so outside of the stadium!
Forfeits Entry fees ($25) can be turned tonight at the Captain’s
meeting No Cash! Checks payable to The College of New Jersey Teams who forfeit will be charged a $10, which must be paid
before the next game!
EligibilityAll students, faculty, and staff may participate in the Intramural program. A student is defined as a person enrolled in The College of New Jersey that is paying a student activity fee.
All part-time students and non-matriculated students who have been assessed an activity fee are eligible to participate.
Faculty/Staff members may organize their own teams. However, they may play on the same team with students as well.
Eligibility Ex-Varsity players will be permitted to participate in
intramurals under the following guidelines: An ex-Varsity player is defined as any player who won a varsity
letter In the A-league only 3 ex-Varsity players will be allowed per team Players who participated in varsity sports more than 5 years ago
are not considered varsity athletes any more Individuals who are participating in a collegiate sport for the current
season will be ineligible to participate in that intramural sport
Teams using illegal players will be suspended!
ProtestsPROTESTS INVOLVING JUDGEMENT CALLS BY AN
OFFICIAL WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED!
A protest can only be made based on rule interpretation or player eligibility. All rules can be found on the Intramural webpage.
Protest must be put into writing and sent to Intramural Director and Assistant within 24 hours of the contest.
Player Ejection Participants who are ejected from their contest must meet
with the Intramural Director and Assistant Coordinator before they are allowed to play in another contest
Penalty can range from sitting out halves/games and suspension of a specified date
Referees Remember they are students too! They don’t deserved to be
abused!
Judgment calls can’t be argued or protested!
Without student officials we wouldn’t be playing!
Flag Football Rules
NIRSA flag football rules govern all play not covered in intramural rules
Teams consist of seven players (eight for coed) Need at least 5 to start (6 for Co-Rec) Offense must have 4 players on the line of scrimmage (5 for
Co-Rec) Always in Shotgun Formation (No Direct Snaps) LINE JUDGE WILL ASSIST YOU WITH LINE OF
SCRIMMAGE
Flag Football Rules
Size of footballs (IM Department will provide balls; offense is responsible to retrieve football on incomplete passes) Men: Regular size Women/Co-Rec: Regular, Youth, Intermediate, Junior sizes
Two 18 minute halves running clock Clock stops last 2 minutes of each half 2 Time-outs per half Mercy Rule: Team up by 50 at or after half
At 2 minutes or anytime after: 19 ≤ for M and W, 25 ≤ for Co-Rec
Flag Football Scoring Touchdowns are worth 6 points (9 for Females in Co-Rec) The player who scored must report to the closest official to
check their flag belt after the score Extra point try
1 point from 3 yard line 2 points from 10 yard line 3 points from 20 yard line
An intercepted try-for-point
cannot be returned for points.
Ball is dead when intercepted.
Flag Football vs. Tackle Football
THERE ARE NO FUMBLES! BALL IS DEAD IMMEDIATELY If the clip breaks on flag belt, it is considered a tackle If a flag belt inadvertently falls to the ground during a
down, a one-hand tag between the shoulders and the knees constitutes the ball being dead
On 4th down, captain decides to punt or go. There are NO quick kicks or fake punts
To change decision, a timeout must be used or there must have been a penalty enforced (i.e. offsides)
Neither team may cross the line of scrimmage before the ball is kicked
New Punt Rules Receiving team CANNOT signal Fair Catch
10 yard penalty: unfair act
Once ball breaks the goal line it is a Touchback. Ball cannot be advanced down field.
Blocking and Player Conduct Offensive players may “screen” block without contact
The screen blocker shall have their hands and arms at their side or behind their back
Any use of the arms, elbows, or legs to initiate contact while screen blocking is illegal
Defensive players must go around the offensive player’s screen block
The arms and hands may not be used to contact an opponent except when capturing a flag belt or tagging a ball carrier without a belt
No bull rushing or swim move. Spinning is allowed.
Illegal Activities Illegal Activities include:
Attempting to steal or bat the ball from a player with possession Holding, pushing, or tackling a ball carrier
Flag guarding Unintentionally as well (elbow swings down while running)
Stiff-arming Hurdling an opponent
Diving without making contact with opponent is permitted
Deliberately driving or running into an opponent Lowering of the head and shoulders

Co-Rec Rules Teams are only allowed these combinations: 4M / 4W, 4M / 3W, 4M/2W, 2M/4W, 3M / 4W, 3M / 3W Male cannot advance the ball across the original line of
scrimmage Male QB cannot run past line of scrimmage Male receiver catches ball behind line, cannot advance Line of scrimmage is a pane of glass, can only be broken by
either a pass or a female. Once broken, anyone can cross it
Co-Rec Rules There cannot be 2 consecutive legal forward pass
completions from male passer to male receiver on downs Referee will indicated “open” play, where any player is
eligible to receive the ball Referee will indicate “closed” play after a male catches a
ball, and a female must be involved in a play to be legal Female must be involved with catching or passing for positive
yardage past the line of scrimmage A female QB cannot simply rush the ball for positive yards
Co-Rec Scoring When a female is involved in the play, the score will be worth
9 points Female QB pass to male or female for TD is 9 points Male QB pass to female who scores is 9 points Female run play for TD is 9 points Male to Male TD is 6 points
Weather Issues The Intramural Department will email and text team captains
by 4pm via IMLeagues.com of any cancellations. Games will be rescheduled on a time-permitting basis.
If inclement weather develops during your game (i.e. lighting), the game will be delayed 30 minutes before being deemed safe to continue.
On-site Intramural Supervisor will make the final decision…no exceptions!
