TESTING

• EXPLORE test in mid to late October.• This test is the first in a series of ACT

prepared exams to determine readiness for the next level.• EXPLORE > PLAN > ACT

• High school uses as a guide in registering students.• Information includes career suggestions,

areas to focus for growth, and suggestions to prepare for high school.

TESTING

• State Writing Assessment in early February• Last state writing was taken in the 5th grade•Writing is on line.• Students are expected to read two text passages and write using a detailed prompt.

WHAT IS IT?

• A small learning community that is focused on a career theme.• Any 8th grade student can apply for any academy.• All academies accept application based on

interest in the career except STEM.• STEM academy uses an academic criteria as well

for selection.• Each academy has a goal of 75 students.• The hope is to have 50 students zoned for that

school with• 25 students coming from other zoned schools.
