January Shout Out/Reflection
Happy New Year Y’all! The year 2015 has been a wonderful year of new beginnings for our youth ministry as we established a new name of Generation 412 and made a transi-tion from Wednesday to Sunday nights for our mid-week services, so we can continue to keep Wednesday nights as our prayer meetings. Our youth-group attendance went from having an average of about 4 to 15! It is a JOY to see how God has been, and continues to be, at work! As your youth pastor, one of my goals is to create a loving environ-ment where all students feel accepted, wanted, and comfortable enough to invite their friends along. With the team of young adult leaders that we are blessed with here at CBC, I feel that we create just that (shout out to y’all!)! Also I need to give a double shout out to many people (you know who you are) in our church family that were willing to open up their homes for G412 On-the-Move, pray continuously for us, and those of you that stepped up with little notice sometimes, to sponsor an event! I am truly grateful to you ALL! Without everyone’s help, none of this would have happened! God has given this church so many different gifts and talents which have all compli-mented each other well! To Him be the glory!! Bring on 2016! Pastor Travis

The End is the Beginning As Becky and I drove home after the cantata it was a somewhat surreal experience. Both of us had realized individually that the cantata had been part of our lives the entire time we’ve been in our new positions at the church. We actually picked it the week after the church voted to call us and there hadn’t been a moment without it since. It was truly a unique blessing for me to be a part of it the whole process, from selection to production, for the first time. As I reflected on it and our time so far, I was struck with a wave of thankfulness for everyone it takes to make the music ministry what it is. I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you:
To Becky – For being willing to leave the job you’ve had since you were a teenager and be my right arm in this ministry. Undoubtedly, I couldn’t do this without you. To the Musicians – I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you and your willingness to take on addi‐tional requests of your time and talents. I’m thankful for Kelly taking up the lion’s share of the work on piano and learning how we all operate, which is difficult when many of us have been together for a long time. I’m thankful for Brendan covering on a regular basis and putting up with my late requests to cover certain weeks. I’m very thankful for Karen’s willingness to be on piano or organ
whenever she’s needed. It’s a blessing. And I’m very thankful for Ryan. The reason he learned to play the bass and why he sings is simply because we asked him. He has filled gaps of need without hesitation and he also has helped me im‐mensely through the years with music for the youth as well. To the Vocalists – This has been a new thing, but it’s been a huge blessing to get to work with this rotation each week. You are all critical to what we do and add so much to the atmosphere of worship each week. You are very much appre‐ciated.
To the Technicians & Support crew – I have a soft spot for these folks because it’s something I’ve done for a long time. I’m very thankful for the new wave of folks that are helping us each week. I would, however, be remiss if I didn’t say a special thank you to John Davis, Jay Gordon, and Roger Davis for covering everything for a few months as we were trying to expand our team. You guys have been critical components of this ministry. I am also very thankful for Judy’s hard
work in keeping up the music library so things are where I need them when I need them. To the Choir(s) – You all have a skill that I do not possess! I am so thankful for you sharing that with all of us with a heart for worship more than performance. I could not be more proud of the job that you did with the cantata, and am extremely thankful for how much time and energy you invest in that as well as our other choir efforts. To the Child Care workers – Becky and I literally could not do this without your willingness to take care of our children and the children of those that help us. It is incredibly selfless and worth more than I can convey.
To the Children’s Musical crew – I’m excited for when everyone gets to see the fruits of all of your labor. I have listened to the musical a lot as the kids sing along as we drive around town, and I know the church is going to be blessed by it. Thank you for all you are investing in these children.
To the Church – Thank you for all of the encouragement. It has been a blessing to be encouraged so much as we have been finding our way getting into a rhythm when it comes to planning the musical portions of our worship services. So, the end of this cantata and this year is simply the beginning of the next chapter and the next year with much more to do, and I am truly blessed to get to do it with all of you. In Christ Alone, Jamie *Note: For this or any past ‘Different Notes’ you can find them at: https://cbcoadn.wordpress.com/
Children’s Musical We are having a blast learning our music and what it means to be Rock Solid in our faith. On Dec 29‐30th, Becky and I are hosting the first ever Children's lock in! We will go from 5pm to 9 am. We will feed them dinner, snacks and breakfast. NO COST! They will need to bring their sleep‐ing bags, pjs, toothbrush, and pillow. When it comes to bedtime, we will split the kids into various
rooms‐‐preschool for those younger ones who go to bed earlier, and grade school (girls will have 2 rooms and boys 2 rooms).
We will have a few surprises on this night as well. (Shhhhhh.......we have a Chris‐tian magician coming is one surprise) and another guest appearance is pending. We will also be having tryouts for solos and speaking parts and we will be prac‐ticing our music for Rock Solid. If you would like to stay and help for the whole night or part of the night, please tell Becky or me.
This will be the last opportunity to invite friends to join us to do this musical! Here’s the remaining Children's Choir schedule: Dec 29‐30‐‐‐5:00pm‐9:00am Christmas Break Lock‐in at the church

I have recently had the privilege of attending a good friend’s graduation. You all know him—Pastor Orvin Feliciano. He is now Doctor Feliciano, having earned
a DMin (Doctor of Ministry) degree from Midwestern Baptist Theologi-cal Seminary. I am proud of my friend and the work he has done to earn this degree. It's another chapter in his life. Through this endeavor he has been able to grow in his ministry. It's the continuing process of maturing. Each year we all face a somewhat similar point of evaluation in each of our lives. We come to the end of another calendar year. We have the opportunity to look back and evaluate the past year as we plan for and anticipate what the new year holds in store
for us. God’s word speaks to this very issue in our lives in Hebrews: “About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” — Hebrews 5:11-14 ESV
The next verse, Hebrews 6:1, talks about going on to maturity. I pray we all have the desire to do this, because God has not merely recorded this for our consideration, He has commanded us to it for His glory. By Grace Alone,

Deadline is coming soon! January 18th is the last date for early bird regis‐tration at $25/person for the Women & Girl’s “Trust God In Everything/Get Real” Conference! Price changes to $35 per person on the 19th!
The conference will be held on March 5‐6, 2016 at Tan‐Tar‐A Resort in Osage Beach, MO. The conference is for both adult women & girls in grades 3‐12. The girls will be broken down by age groups for the ses‐sions. Moms, if you are also interested in going, I have a few spots open. Go to http://mobaptist.org/womens‐ministry/events/ to regis‐ter online directly or sign up in the foyer and I will register us
all together. I would need your deposit of $25 by January 15th if you don’t register/pay online.
I am looking into other lodging options and trying to keep the total cost at no more than $60 per person, which includes ho‐tel and registration. I am hoping to include two meals in this as well.

Our Deacon Family Ministry here at Claycomo is one of the ministries that we want to make sure you are all aware of. The purpose of this ministry is so that as things arise in your life, you have someone who you can call who is committed to praying for you and supporting you. Each deacon has a list of member families that they have committed to praying for and supporting. We wanted to share the 2016 list with everyone as we start off this year. (Note: If your family's name is missing from this list, please let Mark Foltz know, and he will get it corrected.)
