Model 7002 & 8002 Series Accelerometers
7002 + 8002 Series Accelerometers use a MASTER SEAL® silicon sealingwasher. This unique washer automatically seals off the center holemounting bolt assembly to prevent the migration and collection of anypotentially harmful corrosive or contaminating fluids in the sensor housingthreaded interface.
The diagram provides a visual illustration of the proper washer appear-ance during installation. Over-tightening can damage the outer edgeof the washer. This will not affect the performance of the accelerom-eter but may affect the sealing properties of the washer if the sensoris continually mounted and removed. If the sensor is being used withportable meter and long term sealing is not a concern, the MASTERSEAL washer can be replaced with a conventional flat washer if re-quired.
CAUTION: Please note that the mounting torque remains the same at 15-20 inch-lbs.
INSUFFICIENT TIGHTENINGLikely to cause leakage under seal and around fastener.
EXCESSIVE TORQUECauses reverse dishing.Leakage under seal possible.
CORRECT INSTALLATIONTight against surface. Seal flowsinward to seal minor fastenerdiameter and surface voids.

Accelerometer Mounting1. Hole perpendicular to mounting
surface within .00082. Mounting surface flatness to be
.0008 T.I.R.3. Mounting surface roughness to be
32µ in RMS4. Torque to be 2 in-lb (2.2 N-m)
5. Surface preparation for units: addlight film of grease on surface.
6. For more surface preparationinformation , refer to the VMSensor Installation Guide
Accelerometer Mounting Pad (Puck)
1. Clean machine surface thoroughlywhere puck is to be mounted.
2. Attach puck to surface with appropriate epoxy. For recommended epoxiessee VM Sensor Installation Guide.
3. Apply a thin film of grease betweenaccelerometer and puck.
4. Mount accelerometer with propertorque.
Cable Extension and Heat Shrink Sealing1. To seal BNC interconnection and
electrically insulate connector frommachinery surface, use moistureresistant heat shrink tubing withepoxy sealant (P/N 9356594). This willoptimize accelerometer operationand prevent ground loops.
For field customized cable lengths:1. Cable Extension Kit (CEK) complete
with cable, 50 mating BNC connec-tors, 50 pieces heat shrink, 50 tiewraps, crimp tool and carrying case.P/N 9356687-050
2. Switchbox Installation Kit (SIK)complete with gland fittings, pigtailing parts, labels for 50 cablesand carrying case. P/N 9356683-002
Standard RG58 Cable Extensions:BNC female to BNC male - 6 and 15 footBNC female to pigtail - 6 and 15 footFor other lengths, consult factory
