AMO Background InformationOverall Score

• 2014-15 Overall Score/Classification is determined by adding the sum of the Learners Score (77%) and the Program Review (23%)

• 2014-15 AMO was determined by adding Learners Score and Program Review score to obtain both an AMO and classification.

Overall Score (high school example continued)Overall Score = 48.356 (77% of Learners) + 22.908 (23% of Program Review)

71.3 (rounded to 1 decimal place) Proficient

For this example; the Overall Score of 71.3 is proficient so the amount of increase would be 0.5.

New AMO (high school example continued)

Total points for Learners + Amount of increase determined by classification (0.5 or 1.0)

62.8 + 0.5 (Proficient) New AMO = 63.3

Meeting the AMO is determined by increasing scores obtained from the Next Generation Learners results.

Graduation Rate (4 Year)

• Four year graduation rate is used to set new annual target.

• A new goal is set annually for Kentucky high schools and districts that measures progress toward the state-wide goal of 98% by 2024. The end goal changed from 2022.

• The 4-year Graduation Rate goal is computed by dividing by 10, the difference between the 2014 baseline percent and the goal for 2024 (98%).

Example:98% (2024 goal)83% (2014 baseline)

2016 Target (86%)

KDE:OAA:DSR:cw,ko 12/15/2015

98 – 83 = 15

15/10 = 1.5

(1.5 x 2) + 83 = 86

Note: 1.5 is multiplied by 2 because this is

the second year of the target.

Assistance Enter Focus District

• District that has a non-duplicated student gap group score in the bottom 10% percent of non-duplicated student gap group scores for all districts for all districts. • Non-duplicated student gap groups

shall have at least 10 students in order for the subject area calculation.

Enter Focus School

• Schools in the lowest 10% of non-duplicated student gap group scores by level (minimum 10 students);• Individual student subgroup by level and

subject that falls below bottom 5% cut scores (minimum 25 students); or• High schools that have a graduation rate

that has been less than 80% for two (2) consecutive years (because the 4 yr. goal increased to 80%).
