Friday, May 4, 2018
Auditorium at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau
380 Washington Avenue, Roosevelt, NY
“Through the Years “ —Song Dedicated to CP Nassau
www.cpnassau.org
I can’t remember when you weren’t there So many people care
To make this a better place. Even though we have some obstacles
We achieve our goals And it’s all because of you.
Through the years you never let us down You turned our lives around
The best times that we’ve had have been right here Through the years the laughter and the tears
You’ve helped us calm our fears And learn so many things
We did it all through the years. I can’t remember what I used to do
Everything was blue Before I came to you
Now I’m stronger than I ever knew It’s all because of you
The things I’ve learned I’ve learned at CPN.

The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County
CP Nassau is an independent, non-profit health agency serving over 1,500
children and adults with cerebral palsy, developmental and other
disabilities. The association, founded in 1948, operates a comprehensive
Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Roosevelt, NY that has earned
international recognition for innovative and high-quality programs. CP
Nassau is a total therapeutic community meeting the needs of individuals
with disabilities from birth through their senior years.
MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Education) at CLC
You can witness many exciting examples of progress at CLC in the Mobility
Opportunities Via Education (MOVE) curriculum.
MOVE's Mission is to improve the overall quality of an individual's life
regardless of age or disability; to provide for fuller participation at home,
school, work and community environments and to promote the
belief that movement is the foundation of learning that lays the
cornerstone in building an individual's personal dignity.
Think about this from a student's perspective, participation in
MOVE means:
•I have the ability to move about rather than sit in my wheelchair.
•I have choices of daily activities that I can actively participate in.
•I can effectively communicate and interact with staff and my peers.
I can look them in the eye!

Hope You Got to See our 70 Day Video Countdown! It Started on February 24, 2018 In celebration of the CP Nassau 70th anniversary, we wanted to share info with our community and the world about the programs and people in our Agency and progress that CP Nassau has helped bring about since 1948. Agency history was visited and new, innovative programs such as MOVE were featured. A selection of personal interviews were included too. You can view the videos here today and they will be repeated on our Facebook page along with lots of new footage about the latest happen-ings at CP Nassau. If you have not done so already, please LIKE us on Facebook! www.Facebook.com/cpnassau
Check Out the Decorated ANNIVERSARY Doors in the Adult Day Services Area and Vote for Your Favorite Participants and staff have been working hard and using all their creativity to decorate the doors in their area! The Door Decorating contest between all Adult Day Services (ADS) Programs: Group Site-Based Day Hab (GSBDH), Life Options (LO), Oceanside, and Wantagh Hub.
17 Doors will be judged in 6 categories, with a winner in each category. All guests today are invited to vote for “People’s Choice. “
Choose your favorite door and drop a voting slip in the voting bag located outside the door you choose. Results to be announced 5/7.
CLC Classrooms as well as program offices are being very creative with a music/art/television theme through the decades on the doors and hallways. (School is not part of the voting though!)
ROCK Scroll of Honor:
We are grateful to these schools
for the sharing of time and talents in decorating rocks:
Babylon Memorial Grade School, Babylon
Freeport High School, Freeport
Garden City High School, Garden City
John F. Kennedy High School, Bellmore
Valley Stream Central High School, Valley Stream
Walt Whitman High School, South Huntington
Zucker Medical School/Hofstra University
Hempstead
Many people worked on a commemoration of CP Nassau’s 70th
anniversary in a fun, creative way: by painting and decorating a
collection of inspirational rocks to celebrate the solid foundation so
many have helped build over these seven decades!!
Staff, program participants, students, volunteers and other friends of
the Agency synergized to make a unique collection of over 500 rocks!
Seven local schools shared their time and talents! Make sure to pick
one up during your visit today as a unique souvenir of our 70th
Anniversary Celebration.
A ROCK SOLID COMMUNITY!
Our GIANT Starfish:
As you may know, we have adopted the “Starfish Story” as our philosophy here. The premise of this story by Loren Eisley is that everyone can make a difference one person at a time! With great thanks and appreciation to John Seery, CP Nassau Board Member and owner of Old Mill Nurseries, we now have a 10 foot starfish created entirely of rocks at the entrance to our building! (Photo on cover!)
Thank you so much John!
