All Saints Day November 1, 2015

Revelation 7:2-4. 9-14. 1 John 3:1-3. Mathew 5:1-12a. OUR TRUE HOME IS HEAVEN Today solemnity of All Saint’s Day celebrate all the unknown saints in heaven. By honoring them this day, we are remind-ed that our true home is heaven and that we, too, can be-come saints. For this to come about we must love Jesus above all things, pray all things, pray daily be nourished by the graces of the sacraments, live according to the teachings of Jesus and persevere in faith. The first reading from the Book of Revelation offers a majes-tic vision of the great multitude of the saints in heaven. The second reading tells of the great love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we may be called the children of God. The Gospel, Jesus teaches the eight beatitudes, which out-line the essential virtues necessary for living a life of authen-tic disciples. The beatitudes are the marks of a true disciple of Jesus. They are the standards by which we measure holiness. The things the beatitudes stand for are very beautiful and very precious – things such as peace, goodness, joy, love, gentle-ness, compassion, mercy, integrity… The beatitudes are not much about holiness as about good-ness. But there is no holiness without goodness. In fact goodness is holiness. A person who lives according to the beatitudes is already living in the Kingdom of heaven. Apocalipsis 7: 2-4. 09.14. 1 Juan 3: 1-3. Mateo 5: 1-12a.
