1. Warmup: Review quiz from yesterday
2. Finish the Functions task card activity
3. Start reading the examples about realworld scenarios and the functions that can represent them. We can compare functions using graphs, tables, equations, and verbal descriptions.
4. Desmos Graphing Stories activity!
5. iXL skills for this week: Z.1, Z.2, Z.3, and I.1 due tonight.

When done with Quizizz, please go to desmos.com
Click on Start Graphing Please graph y=4x and y= x Copy the 2 equations on your paper. Which one is steeper? Look at the coefficient or constant of proportionality or k value for both. What do you notice?
Relate the k value to the steepness. Write:
The steeper the slope, ______________________
Note how the lines go on forever in both directions.
1)
2) Erase previous graphs and graph
y=4x and y= x^2 (This is how you enter y=x ) Copy the 2 functions on your paper. Which one is linear?
Note the curve of the parabola. When you are finishing your task activity, revisit your graphs for parabolas. There should be no sharp angles in your drawings.
3) Erase previous graphs and graph
y= + 2 Is it linear? Where does it intersect the yaxis?
What is the slope or rate of change?
4) Erase previous and graph:
y = 3
This is an exponential functions that represents the spread of the corona virus, given a basic reproduction number of 3 (1 person infects 3), and wave number x.
If 28000 have been infected as of 2/6/20, what is x?

A rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
Independent variable variable of choice, that can change
Dependent variable depends on or responds to the independent variable
Controlled variable quantities that we keep constant during an experiment
