with protective end caps. The globe pattern valves MYshown on page 0 are the only globe pattern valves which canbe used with protective end caps.

Dip TubesDip tubes provide a vapor space o the specifed volume incylinders containing liquefed gases, allowing the liquid toexpand as the temperature increases. Without adequate vaporspace, a small temperature increase can cause the liquid toexpand, increasing the pressure dramatically.

Reer to local regulations and other appropriate guidelines orsae cylinder flling limits or your application.

Dip tubes may be ordered in outages o 0, 0 and 0% toprovide a respective flled capacity o 0, 0 or 0%. A 0%outage tube would dip into a cylinder to a point equivalentto the liquid level o a cylinder flled to 0% o its capacity.Dip tubes in other outages can also be ordered, contact theactory.

To ensure leak-tight perormance, dip tubes must be properlywelded to a ftting, valve, or relie device.

When ordering dip tubes on valves without cylinders, thecylinder model number or capacity must be identifed.

Safety Relief DevicesSa-tee relie devices can be used with Hoke samplingcylinders as an inexpensive saety device or as a pipe sizeadapter or connecting valves in the make-up o cylinderassemblies.

Two basic models are available to satisy most pressure ranges.Spring relie models are recommended or applications wherere-closure is required.

Rupture Disc models are supplied with a pre-bulged rupturedisc which provides excellent resistance to a broad range ohold-down plug and rupture disc to prevent damage dueto torque transmission during assembly. A saety screenminimizes ragment release through the plug vents. Themaximum operating system pressure should be limited to 0%o the nominal rating o the rupture disc or static operatingpressure and ambient temperature. It should be limited to 0%i pressure pulsations occur or used at elevated temperature.

The burst tolerance is within the ASME code guidelines.

How to Collect Samples from Process LinesIt is oten di cult to obtain pure samples o process uidsor laboratory analysis. To insure accuracy and saety o yoursample, DOT regulations, elimination o contaminates, costand simplicity o operation must be considered.

Here are our methods o collecting samples which we asmanuacturers and suppliers o sampling cylinders and valveshave seen successully used.

Method I: Water DisplacementUse a double-ended Hoke cylinder (either the LD or HD.styles depending upon pressure requirements) withsu cient capacity and equip it with suitable Hoke valves.Fill the cylinder with water so that all contaminates in the.cylinder are removed by displacement.Attach cylinder to process line and open process line stop.valve.Open both valves on sampling cylinder, the inlet valve wider.than the outlet and allow the process uid to displace thewater in cylinder.When cylinder is flled (this is indicated when process uid.begins owing out cylinder outlet valve), close outlet valveand then both inlet and stop valves and remove cylinderrom process line.

Transport cylinder to laboratory and bleed o samples as. required.

Method II: Evacuate Cylinder by VacuumUse either a double or single ended cylinder with valves,.preerably packless type. Helium leak tested to insure leaktightness.Evacuate the cylinder to remove contaminates..Attach cylinder to process line..Open inlet valve and draw o desired sample..Close valve and remove cylinder rom process line..Draw samples rom cylinder as required on mass.spectrometer.

Method III: In Line By-pass o Process Line

Establish by-pass line or parallel line to main process line. with acilities to insert sampling cylinder.Insert double-ended cylinder in by-pass line..Open both inlet and outlet cylinder valves wide and allow.process uid to ow through by-pass line and cylinder.Permit ow to continue running until accurate sample is.established.Close valves and remove cylinder rom process line..Draw sample rom cylinder when required..

Method IV: Positive DisplacementUse a double-ended cylinder equipped with suitable valves..Attach one end o the cylinder to the process line and.the other to a positive displacement pump which drawsuniormly over a period o time.Open process line and cylinder valves and begin drawing o.a uniorm sample over an established period o time.When time period is completed, close valves and remove.cylinder rom process line.Sample gathered is an example o uid passed through.process line over a given period.
