Installation

1. Remove rider seat, left and right side fairing, fuel tank, airbox, throttle body, and throttle cable as per Factory Service Manual.

CAUTION

Fuel tank MUST be empty before beginning installation.

2. Install (No. 2) L260 throttle cable between the throttle holder and throttle tube. Install (No. 6) M12 plug into the throttle holder as shown.

3. Remove the two lower handlebar pinch bolts and insert (No. 7) D13-L10 collar.

4. Install (No. 1,2) L260 throttle cable and L425 throttle cable onto (No. 10) TPS bracket as shown. Note: Throttle cables will be in a temporary bind in the center part of the adjustment screw.

5. Install (No. 3) pulley assembly onto TPS bracket.

• M4 x 10 Socket Head Cap Bolt • M4 Spring Washer Torque: 1.5 Nm

Install throttle cable barrels onto pulley as shown. Note: With the throttle in the closed position, front pulley and L260 throttle cable barrel must be in the bottom position relative to the TPS bracket as shown.

6. Install TPS bracket to the handlebar clamp.

• M8 x 45 Socket Head Cap Bolt • M8 Spring Washer Torque: 27 Nm

If installing PRO-GRESS 1 meter, install meter onto TPS bracket.

7. Install (No. 11) TPS by turning the TPS housing clockwise against the left mounting bolt.

• M4 x 10 Socket Head Cap Bolt • M4 Spring Washer Torque: 1.5 Nm

8. Install YD-MJN carburetor. Refer to carburetor kit manual for proper installation. Verify that the throttle cables adjustment nuts are tight after completing installation. For proper calibration, throttle must be fully opened when installing.

9. Install (No. 27) TPS harness extension by connecting TPS and TPS main harness connector.

10. Install (No. 28) electrical tape onto ISC connector on the wire harness to prevent water and debri from damaging connector.

11. Install (No. 26) ignition module injector connector to the stock injector connector.

12. Install the ground wire from the ignition module to the stock ground bolt.

Place ignition module inside the stock rubber harness boot. Secure in place by using the provided L150 cable ties.

13. Disconnect terminals from ignition coil. Connect ignition module terminal connectors to ignition coil and connect the male-end ignition module terminals to the stock female-end terminals. See wiring diagram on page 2.

14. Locate the (5 pin) fuel pump connector. De-pin and remove the brown wire from the connector and mask terminal pin with electrical tape. Fold over and secure to harness with electrical tape.

Cut brown wire if terminal cannot be removed from connector and seal exposed wire using electrical tape.

15. Cut (No. 18) fuel hose to 30mm in length. Install (No. 14) D5 plug and secure using cable ties.

16. Cut (No. 17) fuel hose to 50mm in length. Install (No. 13) D9 plug and secure using provided hose clamp.

17. Connect the remaining 5mm and 10mm fuel hoses together by using (No. 15) fuel hose adapter. Install (No. 12) fuel petcock onto the 5mm hose and secure using cable ties. Connect 10mm hose using the provided hose clamp.

18. Disconnect all hoses from the bottom of the fuel tank with the exception of the fuel filter hose. Install hoses assembled in step 15 and 16 in its place.

Install 5mm hose on rear fuel nipple and secure using cable ties. Install 10mm hose on forward fuel nipple using hose clamp.

19. Re-install fuel tank and reconnect fuel pump.

CAUTION

To prevent fuel hose from coming out, use the provided cable ties and secure using the holes in the D5 plug as shown below.

Check to make sure cable ties are tight prior to operation.

20. Secure fuel petcock under the ignition coil using cable ties.

Route fuel hose connected to the petcock under the fuel tank and around the fuel filter.

Using the supplied fuel hose, connect fuel petcock to carburetor and secure using cable ties.

21. Connect the fuel hose installed in the previous step onto the lower fuel filter nipple and secure using provided hose clamp. To prevent hose from binding, secure using cable ties.

22. Secure air temperature sensor to the right side of the frame using L150 cable ties as shown.

23. Secure loose wires to frame using cable ties.

Wiring for Ignition Module Secure wires making sure they do not interfere with moving parts. (ie. tire, chain, sprocket, rear shock and etc.) Fuel Hoses Check to make sure hoses are not pinched or in a bind.

24. Assemble fairing bracket (No. 24, 25).

• M10 x 20 Socket Head Cap Bolt • M10 Spring Washer • M10 Flange Nut Torque : 25 Nm

Remove the rubber grommets from the stock airbox and install them onto the fairing bracket as shown.

If universal catch tank is installed, secure to fairing bracket without the M10 nut.

25. Install fairing bracket onto frame. Install left and right fairing to verify the correct position before torquing.

• M6 x 15 Socket Head Cap Bolt • M6 Flat Washer Torque: 12 Nm

26. Secure TPS harness extension and Throttle Cable L425 using the provided cable ties.

27. Complete assembly and re-install seat. Turn fuel petcock to the “ON” position and check for leaks.

Check for leaks between D5 and D9 plugs along with the fuel hose adapter. Check cable ties and hose clamps are secure. Start engine and check for leaks prior to riding.

28. If any problem is found, please carefully follow through the installation steps again. If problem still persists, please call Yoshimura Tech Department at (800) 634-9166 / in CA (909) 628-4722.

Loosely secure cable tie to allow for flexibility and movement.

CAUTION

Verify the following and that steering operation is not impeded at full steering lock. (Left & Right)

• TPS harness extension and throttle cable is not taught and retains slack.

• Smooth operation of throttle and handle returns properly.
