In keeping with the spirit of the Hippocra-
tic Oath, the primary objective of a hospi-
tal today is still to promote the well-being
of its patients. This responsibility requi-
res every clinic to safeguard and impro-
ve its quality, regardless of, or precisely
because of, increasing cost pressure
and ever higher demands. In particular
in the area of communication technology
it is necessary to provide access to new
media such as the Internet or Intranet at
the patients bedside. Patients, nursing

services and medical services will be
dependent on the availability of these
new services in the near future.
Through new technologies in telecom-
munications, systems grow into complex
communication networks. Thus commu-
nication in the various departments of a
hospital becomes increasingly extensi-
ve and has a major influence on the over-
all quality and economic efficiency of the
institution.

the patient is not possible or desirable.
The clino phon system with its two-way
intercom feature, greatly reduces the
load on the staff. The nurses cannot only
ask the patient for the reason of the call
and estimate the urgency, but also direc-
tly contact other members of staff. A
prompt response to the call also reassu-
res the patient.
With clino com, Ackermann offers world-
wide an unique, integrated multimedia
communication system that, in addition
to the services telephony and TV, provi-
des the patient with Internet access at
the patients bedside. It also offers the
Nursing, medical and technical staff, as
well as administration and service em-
ployees, are increasingly being integra-
ted into a complex process based on the
division of labour. The necessary quality
can only be ensured by an extensive
exchange of information between the
parties involved. Communication sy-
stems from Ackermann offer the ideal so-
lution.
The clino opt and clino phon call systems
establish direct contact between the pa-
tients and the nursing staff. clino opt, the
call system with visual and acoustic sig-
nalling, is used where voice contact with
hospital or clinic the possibility of inte-
grating these new services into the effi-
cient accounting system. In addition, the
connection to the clinics own Intranet
oppens up new possibilities.
These call systems are supplemented
by the coupling with wireless paging or
DECT- Systems.This provides a decisive
advantage in that it enables contact to
be established with a specific person - a
registered nurse, the senior 0physician,
or the technical service department. Par-
ticularly in large institutions which may
consist of several buildings, it is impera-
tive that people be reachable throughout
the entire complex.
With the wireless DECT system the staff
are also equipped with mobile telepho-
nes.
Systems that connect.

clino opt:
Always well informed.
The nurse call system clino opt provides
the staff with prompt and clear informati-
on as to which resident called from
where, or whether additional assistance
is required from other members of staff.
Alphanumerical displays in the resi-
dents rooms, in the corridor and, of
course in the duty room, provide instant
information on the location and identity
of the person who has called for assi-
stance. There is an ideal call unit for every
resident, whatever state of health.
From the simple push button all the way
to the handset with integrated radio and
TV-control - every device has been spe-
cially designed to meet the needs of the
elderly.
Naturally, when designing the systems,
emphasis was placed on ensuring that
installation of the call system does not
effect the homely character of an institu-
tion. This, however, in no way impairs the
safety aspect of these systems.

clino phon:
Instant contact.
The convenient clino phon call system
enables the nursing staff to talk to resi-
dents directly. In addition, the option of
consulting with other members of staff,
e.g. to request a second nurse, is an ef-
fective way to facilite daily nursing care.
The call system can be linked to
existing computer systems, thus making
it possible to keep very effective records
and to supplement calls with essential
information for the nursing staff.
A graphic display of the different zones
gives the nursing staff a quick and infor-
mative overview. Calls, staff availability
and, for example, the occupancy of the
apartments, room, etc can be seen at a
glance.

clino com 21:
Multimedia in the patient room.
The clino com 21 as the overall concept
for communication in hospitals and cli-
nics, eanables to bring together different
transmission and communication media
in one system. This includes, on the one
hand, nurse call, telephony, intranet and
internet access, radio, television and
entertainment and, on the other hand,
accounting for the available chargeable
sevices. With this system the whole
range of hardware, from conception to
use, is covered, whereby, for example,
modern transmission technologies and
software solutions with a guaranteed fu-
ture offer every institution security as far
as investment and useful life are concer-
ned.
Thanks to the most modern equipment
and the low installation and maintenan-
ce costs, clino com 21 ranks as one of
the most flexible and economic commu-
nication systems for hospitals and cli-
nics. The operating devices are charac-
terised by the easy-to-operate touch-
screen technology.

In addition, it is possible to adapt the
functions to new requirements at any
time thanks to loadable software.
clino com 21 already meets the basic
requirements for the future: customer
ties, patient amenities, electronic patient
files, user-group controlled accounting
and multimedia at the patients bedside
are no longer just a vision. Open interfa-
ces facilitate the connection to modern
PABX-systems and existing computer in-
frastructures, which makes clino com 21
particularly suitable for partially renova-
ted buildings. Thus, a bit-by-bit integrati-
on of the new system concept can also
be realised within the framework of a gra-
dual modernisation.

clino call:
Reachable everywhere.
The various paging receivers can be
optimally adapted to internal organisa-
tional structures and nursing methods -
e.g. to the application of integral nursing
concepts where each resident calls
his/her assigned carer.
Alphanumerical displays on the recei-
vers are just as normal today as the inte-
gration of information transmission on
mobile telephones according to DECT
standards.
The reachability of the entire staff is of
decisive importance, particularly in to-
days increasingly extensive care facilities.
A wireless paging system offers the ideal
addition to our clino opt and clino phon
call systems to meet this, and many
other requirements. In addition, it is a
great advantage to be able to contact
the manager or the technical depart-
ment of the institution at any time.
