7th & 8th grade
Students in 7th and 8th grade must have one semester of PE during those two years
(presuming two semesters were completed in 6th grade).
*apply basic concepts of wellness
*maintain an adequate level of physical fitness
*perform a variety of physical activities
*practice appropriate social skills in a physical education setting
*have fun!
Students will also take part in the Presidential Fitness Test in the spring
semester. Students in 7th and 8th grade are required
to dress out daily. Proper dress-out clothing consists of blue shorts, gold, white, or previous sport spirit t-shirt, socks, and
tennis shoes.
Athletic PE class is offered only to 7th and 8th graders. This class will be different from regular PE classes. Concentration will
be on specific sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, and track. During a particular sport, the class will consist of drills, conditioning, and skills specific to that sport. Students will be required to
dress out and work out daily. If a student becomes ineligible for a sport, he/she will
still be required to dress out and work out. Students may choose by semester.
7th & 8th grade concert band traditionally presents
Christmas and end-of-year concerts, plays at several pep
rallies, performs with the Kelly High School Band at a football
game, and participates in other events as they arise.
St. Anne is the only private school band in Southeast Texas that regularly competes in UIL competitions with public school
students and whose students are selected to play in the
All-Region Band.
Students are required to either rent or purchase their
own instrument. There is a $40 band fee.

This course is for students that are
interested in three dimensional modeling
and printing. Students use Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
skills to create objects in Tinkercad.
Assignments consists of projects for
Catholic Schools Week, keychains, coffee
cups, family member objects, and
Playdough cookie cutters for our PreK3
class where they will enjoy collaborating
with them on using their new cookie
cutters. Students also have the opportunity
to print their creations using our two state-
of-the-art Dremel 3D40 Printers. This
course would be beneficial for any student
with an interest in careers related to
engineering, architecture, robotics
and the like.
Students will practice and master their keyboard-ing skills using Learning.com software. Research and safe search skills will be learned along with courses in digital literacy and cyber safety. In depth courses learning spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing using Microsoft and Google products will be taught along with using Google Drive for saving in the Cloud. Additionally, students will learn digital storytelling while using iPad minis to complete movie trailers about their favorite novel. Students will also learn programming and coding with a software called Scratch and Tynker. This course will focus on student collaboration and creativity using the tools that will prepare them for high school and college.
7thgrade
This course is designed to provide students with additional learning time
and instruction that aligns with the 7th grade curriculum. Students will be
taught to assimilate large amounts of text, prepare study materials that
match their specific learning style, and review for upcoming tests. The
elective will be an active, participatory class that reviews concepts al-
ready taught utilizing varying teaching methods. Students will be placed
in this class based on teacher or administrative recommendation.
8th grade—Same as above but aligns with 8th grade curriculum.
7th/8th Grade
Students’ singing and aural skills will be
developed in order to best facilitate the
highest level of music literacy and
performance, and also to bring the most
enjoyment from the music experience.
Students will be exposed to and perform
music from a multitude of genres, time
periods, cultures, languages, and themes
including but not limited to: religious, folk,
pop, rock, indie, art songs, cannons, and
patriotic music. This group is the top singing
group at St. Anne and will also participate in
mass, religious events, and other
performances such as a Christmas concert,
a spring concert, and/or a musical.
Junior High art students have the
opportunity to experience hands-on
studio projects while practicing the
elements and principles of design
each morning for a semester.

A two semester minimum of Fine Arts
is required by completion of eighth grade.
Spanish I will be offered to 8th grade students who are serious about earning a high school credit.
Requirement: students must have a yearly average of 86 or better in both English and literature.
Students will take Spanish I for the entire year.
Students will have the opportunity to take the MKCHS Spanish placement test at the end of the year to place out of Spanish I at Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School.
