H.E. Dr. Peter Ramsauer Federal Minister ret. / President, Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Germany Dr. Peter Ramsauer was born on the 10th February 1954. He graduated from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich with a degree in business administration in 1979, and was awarded a doctorate in governance and public policy in 1985. Additionally he passed the journeyman’s examination in 1977 and the master craftsman’s examination in 1980. Dr. Ramsauer has been Member of the German Bundestag since 1990 and from 1998 to 2005 he was Chief Whip of the CSU parliamentary group and from 2005 to 2009 Leader of the CSU parliamentary group. In the former period from 2009 to 2013 he was Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Development. Currently Dr. Ramsauer is Chairman of the German Bundestag’s Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy, and since June 2014 President of the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Dr. Ramsauer is married and has four children.

H.E. Nael Al Kabariti President / Chairman, Union of Arab Chambers / Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Jordan H.E. Na’el Raja Al Kabariti, born on the 28th February 1956 holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology from the USA. He is Jordan’s Chamber of Commerce’s and Aqaba Chamber of Commerce’s Chairman. He currently is a member of the Higher Councils of Science and Technology as well as of the Civil Defense Higher Council. H.E. is a Board member of Euro – Jordan Advanced Business Institute (EJABI), a member of the National youth and sport Fund, and of the Advisory Council with the Ministry of Industry and Trade between the Public and Private sectors. He furthermore is Honorary Consul of Turkey in Jordan. Besides his activities as a Counselor on various scientific and economic issues, H.E. also operates as the CEO of numerous enterprises in the sectors of construction, financial brokerage, Logistic Services and Real Estate Investment. To his former occupations count activities as a member of the Jordan senate, the Financial and Economic affairs committee in the Jordanian senate, and as a member of the External Affairs committee in the Jordanian senate.

H.E. Ali Abdulla Al Ahmed Ambassador, Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, Germany H.E Ali Al Ahmed is the UAE Ambassador to Germany and non-resident Ambassador to Croatia. Before that he was the Director of the European Affairs department in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs looking after bilateral relations between the UAE and European countries. Prior to joining the diplomacy work, he held some major positions in the field of Media and Communications. He was the Chief Strategy and planning Officer to Etisalat, the biggest Telecommunication Company in the UAE, where he supported in developing its strategy to enter the African and Asian markets. Also he was Abu Dhabi TV General Manager, where he overlooked a range of different channels. H.E Ali Al Ahmed graduated from Eastern Washington University in the field of Business Administration and in 2014 he received his master degree in Strategies and Security studies from the National Defense College in the UAE.

Dietmar Siersdorfer Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Middle East Limited / LLC, UAE Dietmar Siersdorfer is CEO of Siemens Middle East and CEO of Siemens LLC United Arab Emirates since December 2013. Based in the United Arab Emirates, Siersdorfer joined Siemens in 1987 in Mannheim, Germany, as an electrical engineer and held various managerial positions in the Industry and Energy sectors during his tenure at the company. For two years, starting 1997, he was located at the Siemens Southeast Asia headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, promoting the Industry Sector’s business in the region. In 2001, Siersdorfer took over the global responsibility for manufacturing execution systems within Siemens AG in Erlangen, Germany. His position covered a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, food and beverage, power generation, chemicals, automotive, and manufacturing on a global scale and particularly in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Adolf Feizlmayr Co-founder and Senior Partner, ILF Group Holding GmbH, Germany 1937 – Linz, Austria studied petroleum engineering at the University of Leoben. Austria. After working for the design department of Rohölgewinnungs AG (RAG) in Vienna he moved to Innsbruck and started working for Transalpine Ölleitung in Österreich GmbH in 1965. During the implementation of the Transalpine Pipeline (TAL) project, he was seconded to the engineering company Bechtel to work as assistant to the project manager for the Austrian section. From 1967 to 1969, the year when ILF was founded, Adolf Feizlmayr was the technical director of the TAL company in Austria. In the following years he and Pius Lässer jointly established and managed ILF. As an engineer, he played a major role (and he continues to do so) in all large-scale projects of ILF in his field of expertise and presented a number of publications on various engineering issues related to pipelines, tunnel ventilation and water transmission. In 2007 he became member of to the Advisory Board and in 2016 he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the ILF Group. Since 2012 he is engaged in subjects connected to the Energiewende in Germany. In 1978 he was awarded the Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria, in 2003 he was given an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Leoben and in 2007 he received the Ring of Honour from Munich’s University of Technology.

Andreas Feicht Vice-President for Energy, German Association of Local Public Utilities, Germany Andreas Feicht began his professional career in 1993 at Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG as chief of the board office. Thereafter, he worked with Technische Werke Dresden, being responsible for strategic corporate development. In 2000 Mr. Feicht was involved in founding the consultancy Berliner Beratungsdienste, later to officiate as executive partner of BBD Verkehrsconsult GmbH. As of October 2005, Mr. Feicht was co-managing director of BSL Management Consultants: In 2007, Andreas Feicht became Chairman of the Wuppertaler Stadtwerke AG. With the restructuring of the company Mr Feicht assumed responsibility as CEO of WSW Energie & Wasser AG and chairs the managing boards of WSW mobil GmbH and WSW Wuppertaler Stadtwerke GmbH simultaneously. In 2013, Mr Feicht was elected vice president energy of Verband kommunaler Unternehmen (VKU). Andreas Feicht was born in southern Germany in 1971. With his wife and daughter lives in Wuppertal.

Session 1 The Power System in Transition

Paul van Son CEO of Dii / Chairman MENAT of Innogy, UAE Paul van Son joined RWE in January 2015 and as of September 2016 RWE’s renewables, grid and retail arm, innogy, as its Country Chairman for MENA and Turkey from its basis in Dubai, UAE. Paul has been active for over 35 years in various supervisory board, executive and operations management positions in the international (renewable) electricity and gas business. His leadership experience includes a series of predominantly pioneering positions, such as: control system development at Siemens AG (Germany), system operator of the unbundled Dutch national power system at SEP/TenneT and power system control center consultancy at DNV/KEMA. From 1998 onward he was Managing Director of Essent Sustainable Energy (Nl), CEO of Essent Energy Trading, and Chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Essent GmbH in Düsseldorf, building up these innovative and international key activities of Essent N.V. (the largest Dutch energy company). In 2009 Mr. van Son was appointed CEO of Dii GmbH (Munich), an international industry consortium for facilitating a market for renewable energy in the deserts of MENA. Presently, besides his role as innogy / RWE Country Chairman for MENA &Turkey, he is leading the transition of Dii into a regional industry network in Dubai, focusing on solving financial, technical and regulatory challenges for renewable energy projects and interconnected grid integration. Mr. van Son is the founder and honorary President of the European Federation of Energy Traders (www.efet.org). He is Chairman of the Energy4All Foundation (www.energy4all.org ), a non-profit organization promoting decentralized energy systems in Africa. He is among others member of the Board of DEWA and innogy’s Joint Venture in Dubai. He graduated as an electrical engineer at the Technical University Delft and on corporate governance at Nyenrode University, Netherlands.

He has experience in thermal, reverse osmosis and wastewater systems and has served in various roles in all the major desalination developments in the Middle East. Dr. Sommariva joined ILF in 2009 after working nine years with Mott MacDonald where led the desalination and water treatment group as Managing Director of generation Middle East. In his early career, Dr Sommariva worked in Ansaldo Energia and Italimpianti in various roles. Roman has 15 years of varied experience in laboratory work, research & development, environmental contracting, engineering, project/programme and company management. He has 8 years of experience working in environmental contracting, principally in the field of contaminated land, sediment and sludge investigation and remediation, water treatment, engineered wetlands and business development. He has developed a patent for the treatment of produced water by means of engineered wetland technology, which has been successfully applied in large scale in the Middle East. He was also awarded the Global Water Award in 2011 for the same. He has excellent variety of experience in contaminated land remediation, mainly working for oil, gas and governmental clients. A highly experienced regional director, Roman has managed projects and portfolios for clients including Petroleum Development Oman, Shell, Exxon, Ministry of Environment in Oman & Qatar. Ibrahim Elwan Chairman, Tanqia FZC, UAE Mr. Elwan is the Chairman of Elwan Group, established in 1995 to develop, own, and operate infrastructure and real estate projects. In beginning 2009 Bungo Ezawa moved to the Energy Divisions Branch Office in Istanbul/Turkey as Country Manager. Since 2012 he is active as Project Director Wind Energy in Morocco. His team supervised the construction of 600 MW of wind farms in Morocco. Since 2014 the team provided design services for successful IPP bids of more than 1 GW of wind farms in Egypt and Morocco. Fred Wendt Head of Business Development, ILF Consulting Engineers, Germany Fred Wendt was born in 1970. Education: University of the German Armed Forces, Germany, degree in Electrical Engineering (Dipl.-Ing. M.Sc.), 1996Fred Wendt is the Head of Business Development of ILF Germany responsible for Energy. He is a member of the board of directors since 2011.
