Professor Neil Johnson (New Zealand), in conjunction with Professor Tzeng Chii-Ruey (Taiwan), Professor Yutaka Osuga (Japan) and Dr Rohana Haththotuwa (Sri Lanka) would like to welcome you to the ASPIRE 7th Masterclass on Endometriosis to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Saturday – Sunday, 14 - 15 December 2019.

Endometriosis is a huge health problem, a�ecting almost 200 million women of reproductive age worldwide with substantial impact through pelvic pain on their quality of life. It is the most prevalent disease a�ecting women who attend fertility clinics – many estimate that 50% or more women attending fertility clinics will have endometriosis.

The World Endometriosis Society is forging a consensus around networks of expertise, as the optimal structure of care for women with endometriosis. This workshop will not only examine the latest advances in endometriosis, but will give attendees the basic tools to develop a network of expertise for managing endometriosis in their setting.

We have world leading experts in endometriosis to share their own experience, expertise and, most importantly, data with you.

Neil holds an honorary position as professor in reproductive health at the Robinson Research Institute, University of Adelaide, Australia, and holds an honorary academic position at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He is a gynaecologist with Auckland Gynaecology Group, a REI subspecialist with Repromed Auckland and has a collaborative position with FertilitySA in Adelaide. Neil is president of the World Endometriosis Society, the New Zealand representative to ASPIRE, and inaugural chairperson of the ASPIRE Endometriosis Special Interest Group.

Dr Rohana graduated from the University of Colombo and was the secretary of Sri Lanka College of O& G for a total of 13 years, notably holding the role of President in 2008. Dr Rohana was involved in forming the South Asian Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology & South Asian federation of Menopause Societies where he served as the Founder Secretary for a period of about 10 years. Dr Rohana currently holds the position of Vice President in these federation and society.

In addition to Dr Rohana’s impressive leadership roles, he is also currently a fellow member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and Honorary Fellow of the Indian College of O & G and work as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and Chairman of the Ninewells CARE mother & Baby Hospital in Colombo. Dr Rohana is also the Head of the Ninewells Fertility Center, the Secretary General of AOFOG & the Country Representative to ASPIRE.

Professor Yutaka OsugaProfessor of Department of OB/GYNUniversity of TokyoTokyo, Japan

Prof. Osuga received his MD in 1985 and PhD in 1995 from the Graduate School of Medicine of the University of Tokyo, Japan. He provides clinical services in gynecology and reproductive medicine with special expertise in laparoscopic surgery and assisted reproductive technology. His main research targets cover a wide variety of physiology and pathology of reproduction including endometriosis, implantation, folliculogenesis, and reproductive aging. He has authored over 300 research papers published in eminent peer-reviewed journals and has written and edited many textbooks. From 2013, he is the Professor of Department of OB/GYN, the University of Tokyo. He serves as an executive board member of several medical groups and associations and an editor of several international journals.

Professor Guo received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1991. He was Assistant and then Associate Research Scientist at University of Michigan, Associate Professor at University of Minnesota, and tenured full Professor at Medical College of Wisconsin. After serving a three-year term directorship at the Institute of Obstetric and Gynecologic Research, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, he has been Professor at Shanghai OB/GYN Hospital, Fudan University. He served as Associate Editor for Human Reproduction for two terms, and now is an Associate Editor for Human Reproduction Update, Reproductive Sciences, Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, Journal of Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Disorders, and Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Therapy. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the World Endometriosis Society, the Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Disorders, and the Asian Society of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis (ASEA), and a member of the WHO Expert Working Groups (EWG3A). He is ranked as one of 10 top specialists in endometriosis by ExpertScape. He is the co-founder of and the past President of ASEA (2017-2018).

Professor Tzeng is Director of Center for Reproductive Medicine at Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH) since 1994 and he was Chair of OB/GYN from 1994 to 2017 and Dean of the College of Medicine at TMU from 2004 to 2013. After he obtained a masters' degree in public health in Maternal and Child Health from Harvard University (1980-1981), he completed his fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility from 1981-1983 in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Professor Tzeng has undertaken two pioneering projects in Taiwan: the �rst test-tube baby in 1985 and the �rst autologous mitochondria transfer in 2002. He has received the Prize Poster Award at the annual meeting of European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology (ESHRE) in 2001, 2003 and 2007, respectively. He also received 2009 Gold Medal for the invention of “Diagnosis method of endometriosis by detecting biochemical markers” from Ministry of Economic A�airs, Taiwan. In 2010, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018, he obtained the STAR Award from ASRM, in appreciation of his continuous contribution for 10 more years of presentation at ASRM's Annual Meeting. In 2012, he received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from The Global Chinese Association for Reproductive Medicine (GCARM).

Professor Tzeng served as President of Paci�c Rim Society for Fertility and Sterility (PRSFS), now Paci�c Society for Reproductive Medicine (PSRM) from 2008-2014 and President of the Asia Paci�c Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE) (2016-2018). He is one of the board members of International Society for Fertility Preservation (ISFP) and World Endometriosis Society (WES), and the president of Taiwan Endometriosis Society (TES). Professor Tzeng has been invited as a guest speaker in numerous grand conferences around the world for more than 120 times. He has published over 207 peer review papers in the �eld of reproductive medicine.

Deborah has had a global in�uence on the promotion and prevention of endometriosis. In 1998 she developed the world’s �rst Menstrual Health and Endometriosis me™ programme for schools which has signi�cantly in�uenced early recognition of symptoms and timely intervention. It has been endorsed by WES as the preferred education programme world-wide.

She was instrumental in developing a Task Force with the NZ Government to develop new Clinical Pathways for endometriosis. Her private practice integrates into treatment centres o�ering multi-disciplinary expertise. Deborah’s many national and international awards re�ect her achievements and contribution to the literature.

Dr Sun Chung-Hsien Lucina Women and Children HospitalMedical Deputy Superintendent, and Director of the Center of Gynecologic Minimal Invasive SurgeryTaiwan

Dr Sun graduated from Department of Medicine, Medical College, National Taiwan University. He �nished his resident and Gynaecologic oncology training in Department of OB/GYN, Kaohsiung Veteran General Hospital, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. He has pursued a fellowship in Department of Gynaecologic Oncology, New York University Hospital, New York City, USA.

Dr Sun is the current Medical Deputy Superintendent, and Director of the Center of Gynecologic Minimal Invasive Surgery, Lucina Women and Children Hospital, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Dr Sun is also the Director of TAMIG (Taiwan Association of Minimal Invasive Gynecologic Surgery), and the Supervisor of TES (Taiwan Endometriosis Society).

Dr Sun specialises in Gynaecologic Endoscopic Surgery and Gynaecologic Oncology with a special interest in Advanced Gynaecologic Endoscopy Surgery, especially DIE surgery.

Dr Sun is also a member and specialist of APAGE (Asia-Paci�c Association of Gyanecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy), and the founding member of APGET (Asia-Paci�c Gynaecological Endoscopy Training Group).

Associate Professor M .Louise Hull is a reproductive medicine subspecialist with a biomedical background who leads the Endometriosis Group and Fertility and Conception Theme at the Robinson Institute, University of Adelaide. Her Research is focused on basic science and clinical translation of research in endometriosis, implantation disorders and miscarriage. She publishes widely, presents at international conferences, supervises PhD students and teaches reproductive medicine to medical students, registrars and reproductive medicine fellows. She has received numerous grants, fellowships and awards.

Louise sits on ASPIRE’s Scienti�c Advisory Committee, is ASPIRE’s Australian country representative and co-chairs the special interest group on Implantation. She is an international ambassador for the World Endometriosis Society, the treasurer of ANZCREI, the chair of the AGES grant committee and was an Associate Editor for Human Reproduction.

Assoc Prof Louise Hull has founded and been a board director of 2 independent IVF units and has roles as the Scienti�c Director and New Development’s Director. Dr Hull sees couples with fertility and reproductive medicine disorders at Associate Professor Louise Hull and O &G private practices and at Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.

Dr Saman Hettige Director & Senior LecturerMedicina Alternativa – The Open International University of Complementary MedicinesDepartment of Acupuncture Lavinia, Sri Lanka

I am the seventh generation Ayurveda doctor specialized in traditional Ayurveda psychiatry and belong to a well-known Sri Lankan traditional Ayurveda psychiatrist family which has a tradition of 500 years old. I have been practicing since 1997.

I studied my fundamentals in acupuncture at Medicina Alternative- The Open International University of complementary Medicines department of acupuncture at Colombo South General Government Teaching hospital under Prof Dr Sir Anton Jayasuriya in 1991. I completed my higher diploma in acupuncture at the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Centre a�liated to University of Beijing People’s republic of china in 1995. Thereafter, I started my acupuncture teaching career as a demonstrator at the Open International University for Complementary Medicines in 1997 and promoted to the position of a lecturer in 2002.

I took over as the Managing Director at Manasa Ayurveda Hospital which is the �rst Ayueveda Psychiatry in door Hospital in Sri Lanka which has been functioning since 1890. Following that, I worked as a Chainmen/Director Clinical Studies and the senior Lecturer at the SAJICA –Sir Anton Jayasuriya Institute of Acupuncture in 2015. I completed my postgraduate in Buddhist Ayurveda Psychiatry and Counselling at Nagananda University of Buddhist studies in 2017. Currently I am doing my Masters in Buddhist Ayurveda Counselling at University of Keleniya in Sri Lanka. I am also holding the positions as the director of traditional Medicines, and senior Lecturer at the Medicina Alternativa –The Open International University Of Complementary Medicines Department of Acupuncture Sri Lanka.

Mari Kitade, M.D., Ph.D. is a professor of department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Juntendo University Faculty of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. She is a clinical specialist of laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis, �broid, adenomyosis, and uterine cancer. She is a director of the Japan Society of Gynecologic and Obstetric Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy (JSGOE) and a councilor of the Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery (JSES). She also a member of guidelines committees at JSGOE and contributes to education for laparoscopic skill as an instructor at JSGOE and JSES. Her current projects are “Education of advanced laparoscopic surgery”, “Research for deep in�ltrating endometriosis (DIE)” and fertility ratio and perinatal complication of laparoscopic myomectomy”.

Professor Hemantha Senanayake ProfessorUniversity of ColomboColombo, Sri Lanka

Professor Hemantha Senanayake is the Founding President of the Sri Lanka Endometriosis Society, which will be hosting the 9th Asian Conference on Endometriosis in Colombo in November 2020. He recently retired as the Chair Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is a past President of the Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and the Perinatal Society of Sri Lanka. He is a member of the Executive Board of the Asian Society for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis.

Dr Madhuri Patil Clinical Director Dr. Patil’s Fertility & Endoscopy ClinicBangalore, India

Dr Madhuri Patil graduated from Seth GS Medical college & KEM Hospital in November 1981, Bombay University. She then joined Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital in 1982 as an intern in 1982, and completing her post-graduation in the same university in 1985. Since 1988, Dr Madhuri Patil has been in private practice. In January 1993, she started an Infertility and Endoscopy Clinic - “Ratna Infertility Clinic” at Sangli. By 2003, she relocated to Bangalore, where she opened another private clinic, “Dr. Patil’s Fertility and Endoscopy Clinic”.

Throughout her career, Dr Madhuri Patil is a founding member of various societies and have great contribution to several journals. She is the vice president and founder member of “Fertility Preservation Society India, the scienti�c coordinator and founder member of “The PCOS Society India” and founder chairperson of Karnataka Chapter of Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (KISAR), among many others. Dr Madhuri Patil is also the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Human Reproductive Sciences, Assistant Editor of Journal of Human Reproductive Sciences, Associate Editor for The Onco Fertility Journal (TOFJ). Recently, she has joined Fertility & Reproduction, the O�cial Journal of ASPIRE as an Associate Editor.

Dr Suraweera has published over 25 scienti�c papers in local and international peer reviewed journals. Her research interests are neuropsychiatry and perinatal psychiatry.
